I hope when it comes to updating us on these, uh, updates - those that are specifically not Switch 2 Editions - I really do hope they come in waves/batches.
I know Switch 2 Editions are going to be a way for Nintendo to make a little more money on the side as it's the closest thing on Switch 2 they have to the Wii U ports on Switch so far, but there are so many games that just seem ripe for these updates where all they do is take more advantage of the power of the Switch 2. I've actually managed to hold off on picking up more games ahead of launch purely because I want to hear what other games are getting dedicated updates, and of course see what games just get a natural boost from the new hardware.
If there's a Direct held some time over the summer, if not in June as is the norm, I really hope that we get the next wave of updates announced then!
Yep, count me in as another who is absolutely down for Xenoblade Chronicles updates. I really loved the first game and have put off the second for too long.
I think Fortnite is a perfectly companion game to pretty much anything and should absolutely be seeing a big performance boost on Switch 2. I think I remember around the time of the Switch 2 Direct reading that a pretty accurate leaker when it comes to Fortnite was saying it'll be 1080p/120fps handheld and 4K docked, obviously combined with the Mouse-Con support that was purportedly leaked a little while ago, it sounds like Fortnite is essentially getting a Switch 2 Edition of its own – and, of course, it's free.
I think you're right to mention it, because Rocket League is another perfect candidate, too!
I'm really curious to see what other big online games make their way to Switch 2. MMOs in handheld would be damn near perfect for the thing, Mouse-Con too!
AHEM Final Fantasy XIV AHEM
Although it has got me thinking; have they ever tried a Zelda-esque single player puzzle kind of thing? That franchise has a lot of small puzzles using bombs, I imagine you can make something out of that.
It might sound funny but aside from Mario Kart, the main game I am looking forward to play on Switch 2 is Fortnite.
Because of the way Fortnite has evolved and updated over since it first came to the Switch in 2018, it can struggle at times and almost looks like a different game when you compare it to the PS5/Xbox Series and PC versions.
Hopefully it's fully working on day 1.
I also hope Rocket League gets a Switch 2 update.
