i've finally decided i have to buy myself a ds. basically i was just thinking that i'm going to buy the labarador nintendogs pack, kirby canvas curse and wario ware touched. i don't think i'd be able to spend any more money than that (£140) but do you think it's a good selection of games or should i be going for anything else instead?

It's a good selection if you lik that kind of games. All the games you mentioned got good reviews. You could also concider Meteos and Advance Wars DS, or one of the upcoming games, Sonic Rush, Mario Kart or... Well, you've got plenty of choice.

What kind of games do you like?

They're all good games (well I haven't played Nintendogs but I'm buying it). Wario ware is great when you first get the DS because you get used to the controls, and all the mini games will last you quite a while. I haven't played Kirby that much yet, but there's a lot to unlock and different courses and modes.

There are other good games to choose from, but those 3 should keep you entertained for a while. Pac-pix is good and you can find it under £20 in quite a few places.

Great selection, though when is Kirby actually out?

Im selling wario ware on ebay which is going for 10.50 at the min so you could get a bargain there. Thers a link on sale board.

Nintendogs is an amazing game - part Tamagotchi, part Seamen (an old rare dreamcast game) with lots of new stuff.
Wario Ware is classic though you'll burn through it.

But like the guy said, fdepends what games you like - Yoshi, Zookeeper and by all accounts Meteos are great highscore type games!!

And you have to buy Mario Kart and join the RE online league :)

Seamen....I believe I have a review for that in one of my Dreamcast official mags. Yes, I collected them.

Offtopic : Seaman is awesome. I've heard that a true sequel is under developement for ps2. With a Seaman gamepad with it. (Looks great.)

Ontopic :
Castlevania is also looking good. Honestly, you have a lot of good games to choose between. Maybe not too many fighting games yet, but in the puzzle genre, you can choose between several good games.

i am also gonna get a blue DS on friday with nintendodogs!

i will probably get fifa for the multiplayer aspect aswell

i could also stretch to maybe another game or two and wondered what i should buy...wario ware seems like a good choice and maybe castlevania, or should one save the pennies for mario kart...

Erm, I REALLY wouldnt get Fifa if I were you - get bomberman if you want a good multiplayer game.

As for other games, I personally cant recomend Zookeeper enough, but Im in the minority of one on that one. Wario Ware is great, Yoshis is also amazing, but again I shout alne on that one I think (I love highscore games what can I say!), Feel the magic is also excellent, though only worth buying if you think playing through thr same game on HARD mode is okay.

Though if buying an extra game means you WONT be buying Mario Kart then for the love of God you must save those hard earned pennies!!

well i played fifa and liked it especially multiplayer! 1 player is a bit touch and go but multiplayer is a lot of fun!!

and dont worry getting more games doesnt mean ill miss out on mario kart, i have lots of pennies to spend, just dont wanna buy too many games at the start as i wont have enough time to play them all!

i dont really fancy bomberman, used to play that 10 years ago and still do on the snes, so dont really want it on the DS, the same goes for mario 64 DS ill prolly not get that as ive played and completed that many years ago...

hmm for now it looks like ill get nintendodogs, fifa and warioware

Kerby is a great game. It'll last you 5-7 hours (but when you finish you'll probably only have 35ish percent of the game done) and Warioware only lasts about 2-4 hours but you'll be playing it like crazy for months (it's so addicting).

The new Castlevania looks good though, and is getting great reviews.

I honestly don't think you could go wrong with any of those games.

You probably won't even need to pick up 2 extras if your getting Nintendogs, because that game should keep you pretty occupied as it is.

Funny that because Fifa hasn't exactly changed much over the past 10 years either.

If you're up for the challenge and have got time to spare, get advance wars!!! It's by far the best thing on the ds so far, till friday i guess. Although controlling advance wars with the standard buttons is easier than with the stylus :) So if you want DS functionality games, wario, kirby, nintendogs would do fine.

I like Zookeeper too (in spite of the fact that the stupid boss robs you if you make a tiny mistake in Quest mode)! ;)

If you like music-based games, there are two absolute gems on the DS - "Daigassou! Band Brothers" and "Osu! Tatakae! Ouedan!" (both unfortunately only available on Japanese import, but very very user friendly for non-speakers). These are far and away the two most-played games on my DS, and I think they are absolutely wonderful, particularly if you can occasionally round up a few friends to do one-cart multiplayer on Band Bros.

"Project Rub" is another fantastic DS game IMO; very stylish and enjoyable, and was the game that I used to show off the DS when I got my US one. Not hugely long, but the characters, (vague) story and crazy minigames kept me hooked. I think its pretty cheap to buy now as well, which is always a bonus.

One game that I actually quite enjoyed was the unpopular "Sprung!" Its basically just a kind of dating sim, in which you choose either a male or female character and play through a winter they spend working at a ski lodge; you will have to maintain old friendships, make new ones, and endure the trials and tribulations of relationships. I think the thing that really appealed to me was the fact that the characters were actually very entertaining and lovable; think something like "That 70s Show" and you'll get an idea of the ragtag group. Probably not worth spending more than a tenner on, but I thoroughly enjoyed the game until I got stuck on a night out with my drinking buddies trying to get three pairs of underwear from patrons of the nightclub (sadly in-game).
