You can't convert them if they're protected though (ie. bought from Napster). You can also drag WMA's into iTunes and it can convert them, AAC is standard but you can change that in the options.

If you have DRM encoded WMA files, just burn them to CD and rip them back as MP3 or whatever format you like.

As shaq365 says lossy to lossy isn't the best thing. If you are gonna convert them to mp3 do it at a highish bitrate (192+) to minimise the effect of the conversion.

That's far from true.
However most stupid questions can be resolved with wikipedia or google.
