Ermmm he does actually say something at the end of pretty much all his lines, but, it's really nothing like "Believe it!" Infact it means nothing really..... Oh and ermm as far as I can remember no one ever makes fun of it. o.o So yeah that's something nice added in for you guys or something. lol

Anyway that's not really my main problem with the dub..... It's a mass gathering of crapness that annoys me..... Believe it!

Ohhhh that's addicting.... =P

I didn't? Ermmmmmmm well I've been told it's into the chuunin exam now, so, the episode kinda matches up........... It could be up to 60ish..... Probably more though........ The chuunin exam saga is so amazing... But yeah...... I really have no way of telling you........ Unless I actually check around, but, i really have no idea where to get hold of the dubs.... I watched 3 eps with the dubs before I stoped....

As for AMV Hell, I've watched all of them and it's actually where I discovered Dokuro Chan.... I think... I found a couple of others with it as well. ^^;

Ok so this isn't a post about an anime, but, all of you anime loving guys and girls should love this J-Drama......... Densha Otoko..... Everyone should go and download this....... It's about an Otaku who saves a girl on a train and when she takes his address and sends him a gift he decides to try to change himself to become the kind of guy she would like...... Of course to take on such a task he will need a loyal group of friends which he finds on a single mans internet forum..........

Basically, it's a really funny show with a cool story I'm sure you'll all like it. :)

Oh and I have a little special relation to it as it reminds me about how and my current girlfriend got together. rofl

EDIT: Hmmmm just got a message from Shorty on msn saying "aw" but when I saw it he was offline. lol Wonder if theres a connection. lol

my fullmetal alchemist boxet came in the post today from ebay. considering one disc was going for £20, and theres 6, i think £30 for all 6 was a bargain.
gonna watch them all through at the weekend then gonna watch the movie

I'm just recording it off Rapture TV with my new dvd recorder, same with wolfs rain the bitch about that is it's reached the point of the 4 recap eps (2 down 2 to go), was hoping Rapture would skip those, well it'll save space on my dvds i guess. I'd say that must have really been a bitch to anyone who bought the dvd with those recap eps:hmm:

I don't think there is many Original Anime boxsets around.
The originals usually come in several "volumes" with 3 episodes or so on it.

The fakes are better value for around the same quality. I have no loyalties to Japan's anime industry, so it doesn't kill my soul to own bootlegs. Bootleg away my little friend. Bootleg away.

Buying a Anime series in volumes cost way too much so I suggest you buy these "fake" boxsets or download them and watch them.

I'd buy the originals if they were officially available to me without the need of performing some terrible voodoo on my DVD player. I have the original Evangelion releases on VHS and DVD in several forms, but bootlegs are just so much more tempting with their knocked down prices and low space consumption.

You see a series you like? Buy the proper versions. Want to try something out before wasting nearly £100 on a few episodes of animation? Hoist the jolly roger and set sail for bootleg bay.

well most series now it seems that after all volumes have been released individually a boxset will come out after a few more months. Its actually a kick in the face of those who bought the volumes as the boxset will always cost less than the combination of all individual volume.

But i guess its down to if you can wait long enough for the boxset and not get volumes, or if you want to see the episodes as soon as you can.

Personally i'd prefer to wait for the boxsets, although i only have one (anime) boxset at the moment (mainly due to lack of funding).

wow i didnt know they werent real, are they not? anyway im just glad ive got it, i tested out the first disk and it was fine, tested a couple more and they were fine so im not othered if its not real, it works and looks nice with ninja scroll and akira.

yeah its the first 51 episodes and theres 7or 8 on each disk at 25 minutes each. im glad anyway ive got them

i went over to malaysia on holidays and bought about 80 anime dvds all bootleg for a price that would have taken me years to save up for. i got no problems buying them and no guilty verdict on other people that do.
i also have 50 original anime dvds so i do not just buy bootleg.

Just bought Howls Moing Castle; Had no intention of ever picking this up, but I saw the HMV exclusive slip cover and I caved.

Complete BS; the quality is dmatically worse in bootlegs, there are no dubs, and you are also harming the industry. American Linencee's now part fund the shows you love; if that stops, anime production will slow, and quality will drop due to lack of mass funding.

How To Spot a Bootleg

1. Advertised as Region 0: Little to no anime dvd's are released this way.

2. Japanese/Mandarin Dub with English/Chinese subtitles: Again, Little or no anime DVD's are released in this manner.

3. 26 episodes on 3 discs: Never happens. visually quality is weaker in bootlegs because of this.

4. Digipak packaging with Disc Art designs: A boxset that has the same artwork on the discs as it does with the pic behind the disc holder is more than likely a boot.

5. Subtitle Inaccuracies: Most bootlegs are created in the East. This means English is not there first language, and it creates a lot of glaringly obvious grammar/spelling errors, and sometimes the show does not make sense, and you lose the true idea behind the show.

6. Price: Think logically. £15 for a series is not gonna be legit.

7. R2 versions mostly appear on dvd's with 2 episodes per disc. If someone is trying to sell you a 3 disc 'R2' with 13 episodes, they are more than likely ripping you off; it should be 6 discs.

Anime is not a right, it is a privelige. You have no right to demand show x or show y. You should be happy that we get the shows in the first place. ANime titles are more expensive due to the fact the companies who release them need to make their money back, and due to the market not being enormous, inflated prices are to be expected. If everyone bought legit titles all the time, instead of fansubs/bootlegs, then the fanbase buying would be large enough to allow cheaper prices.

I'm afraid that is not an excuse. I do not download licensed anime. Unlicensed, yes, but as soon as it is licensed, then I give my cash to whoever releases them. Infact, I have just stopped downloading Bleach due to the fact it is now licensed. I now download 0 fansubs.

That is the basis of fansubs. You will see that most fansubbers implore you to buy the legit products once it is licensed. However, the amount that dl and enjoy compared to teh amount that download, enjoy then buy legit is very small.

Guy has a point, i never actually buy anime DVD's because they are incredibly over priced. For someone without a monster internet connection boot legs are the cheap alternatives and are usually pretty good.

Price is no excuse tbh. However, you guys can do what you want. I won't try and stop you. Tbh, I couldn't even if I tried.

I pay for the privilege of watching them. If you aren't willing to pay, you shouldn't get to watch them, much like everything else in life.

There is no difference between illegally dl'ing anime and buy copies/downloading copies of games. And I'm sure if i was extremely open about buying these, where I get them from....I'd be in trouble.

By downloading it I'm just pretending I recorded it and I'm watching it later.... Fair enough really if you ask me.........

Just finished watching the last Rurouni Kenshin OVA, and i can't believe how moving it was. An amazing series i mean granted the arc after the whole Shishio arc doesn't really compare, but watching the OVAs really added to the entire experience. The only thing i got to do now is collect the mangas that explored Tomoe's brothers attempt at retribution seeing as that was cut from the anime, that could have easily have replaced the whole Catholic samurai arc and been a lot better imo. But great series one of my all time favs, check it out an amazing cast and the visuals will blow you away. Probably been mentioned already countless times but i thought i'd just further give it more praise.

There is so much crap out there it is unbelievable....... Even when I download some crap I feel kinda dirty.... Now imagine I had actually paid for that.... ewww....... I think the moral ground for importing stuff is also pretty dubious, as you're not supposed to be able to play region 1 DVDs.

Right, regarding Owen:

You two are similar. Owen is a lad who frequently posts on these forums under the same name. His usual haunts are the game boards, however. Owen seems as equally enthused about the Xbox 360 as you do about anime, and boasts a comprehensive collection of titles in his chosen field of enthusiasm quite similar to yourself.

I also believe there's a financial link between you and Owen. He has very little appreciation for money in that he buys almost every new game to be released, and you seem to be unable to appreciate that some of us aren't SUPER RICH and can't afford to spend countless pounds and pennies importing something.

Money is a privilage, anime isn't. It's someone's RIGHT to do what they want with their money. Most people like to pay as little as possible for something, so I think we can all see where bootleggers like myself get off.

I also only spend around £100 a month on anime. It is my only vice(apart from partying and drinking). There are people on here who spend so much more on gaming and music cd's....oh, and your comparison with owen misses one thing. I don't really understand the fuss about the legalities of downloading anime. I mean... the show goes on television. If I wanted to watch Naruto, I could tune into Cartoon Network - I wouldn't be giving the makers any money then, would I?

When you watch television you (in theory) add to the ratings (its complicated), advertisers pay for advertising space, so networks make money this way. If a show has a higher rating its gonna cost more to advertise during it (eg the cost of advertising during the Friends finale was $2 million or something silly). Ergo, when you watch you do give money to the makers.

Well im sure advertisers still pay to advertise between programs, so nope. Unless you wish the pay the lisence fee and advertising fees (which would be in the thousands at a guess), then I'd imagine the BBC would let you go wild. But as you'd be the only one who has paid, nobody could legally host them.

i watched howl;s moving castle again last night and imo im still amazed by the film. i just realised(i think) Christian Bale was the voice of Howl. i didnt think of him having a part in a movie like this, i was suprised when i watched the first bit of the credits.
to think he did batman aswell...am i right?

I've been disappointed with this series, i mean i can't think of one memorable fight so far, all the fights have ended in no time whatsoever, i mean compared to Hime this series flopped.....actually compared to most series this series flopped. And i loathe arika, she must be the first ever animated character i actually despise funny how the minute mai enters the series just gets so much better. I'm hoping she'll fight....otherwise they just wasted a good character in my eyes. Get rid of this lameass gem crap and bring back the slaves; Kagatsuchi how i loved you so!

It actually got better after episode 15. Not when Mai came in, just because an old favourite character comes in it doesn't mean the series turns for the better she's been in one episode and at the end of episode 24.

Also it can't always be about the best fights, they've been some decent fights but no outstanding ones so far I agree apart from episode 22 but they've concentrated on alot of storyline after episode 15.
Not to say this is a flawless series but I've enjoyed it, I haven't seen Mai Hime yet but I've seen plenty of quality anime series' already to judge it properly.

Mai HiME is now licenced... you'll have to buy the DVD's if you wanna see it (well there are ways around this!).

HiME has infinatly better than Otome has been, bar the ending that is. We shall see how well that turns out on Friday.

One Piece's downright weirdness kinda put me off, I heard that it's the case with a lot of people and in order to enjoy it - you have to stick it through for a few eps and get engrossed in the story, but the couple of times I did try to watch it, I wasn't hooked enough to keep going....

Just watched the last two eps of Mai Otome and it wasn't nearly as good as Mai Hime's. :-/ I mean I did like the ending, just it was never as serious as in Hime. Another thing that got to me is that like no one died..... How can such a massive and important battle take place without anyone dying? v.v;; That's just me being strange though maybe.

Oh well, very good series in general. :)

I agree with you there, the show wasn't really serious enough for you to care that much about the characters; the only death with any impact was Aoi, and then she turned out to be alive...

You know, the other day, I watched some HiME episodes, and I couldn't belive how much younger the characters looked, especially Shizuru.

Just a heads up, rumor has it that the first Mai Otome OVA will be focused on the other 25 coral classed Otome students that were not seen in the series. Known as the Moon Corals (ones in the series were Star Corals).

I hope this isn't true, i'd rather have some character building of Nina and Sergay as well as some more stuff into Mai and Mikoto.

I'm watching Fruits Basket at the moment. I bought the whole set on HKDVD. It's a funny series, certainly light hearted and easily watchable for both sexes. I'm watching it with my mate Carly at the moment and we are both enjoying it.

Speaking of the fillers the star arc ended (finally) on the last episode. And just as i thought that was the end of the fillers (as they were meant to end a few episodes back), it turns out they have fillers lined up til episode 186...:cry: on top of that some people are talking about the possibility of another season of fillers. I'm coming close to breaking now and just reading the mangas....but then that'll take away all the surprise of the anime show. So as a result i've resorted to reading the bleach mangas up to its current point, seeing as i rinsed the naruto mangas up to the last point the show stopped at. But they need to hurry up, can't wait for the new season.

Did ye guys know that Naruto is finally coming to UK tv?

Thats (some of) the good news...the bad news is, is gonna be on Jetix so expect it to be heavily edited, it starts July 22nd and shows everyday at 6.30pm and 9pm.

But better news is that the Manga is also coming sometime in the summer on a monthly basis, published by Gollancz.

And Manga Entertainment will be bringing the series out on DVD and its expected (though not yet confirmed) that it will be unedited and also contain the orginal Japanese dub with English subs, Manga Entertainment hope to have the first volume (at least) out in time for Xmas 2006.

This was in the new issue of Neo Magazine and also contains a nice 5 page feature (two of which are an interview american voice actor of Naruto and one page on the video games) on the series

Yeah i wish Rapture would have been able to get it, they would have shown it intact, but because Jetix have a much younger target audiance a lot things might be "inapropriate", i mean look how badly they (as Fox Kids) and Cartoon Network raped shows like Sailor Moon, Vision of Escaflone, Dragonball Z and a few others (its late, i tired, brain not work too good to think of more), all were edited to suit the channels "young" audience.

At least when Manga Entertainment release the DVDs it will/should be all intact and with the original Japanese dub:hehe:

Just picked up Naruto Vol 1 and 2 ( 3 is on pre-order ) on US DVD. I thought I would give it a look as everyone was going on about. Naruto himself is pretty annoying but Sasuke ( sp? ) is awesome. So far I have really enjoyed it.

There are 4 epsidoes on each DVD and only the first 2 are out. They are fighting a Ninja who uses water clones and they are just about to free their sensei who has been caught in a water bubble. Sorry if I dont know all the names yet, I have just started watching it.

.. it was really the last episode (14), with Yuki is developing emotions aka watching Kyon and putting her own coat over Kyon first and other little hints in this episode like Haruhi doing "something" when alone with sleeping Kyon. :P

Nah I know that the Jap anime episodes are always better but I cant be bothered to read the subs. Plus I have never seen the Jap ones so I dont know how much better they are...ignorance is bliss :grin:

Japanese Naruto is MUCH better than english Naruto, that goes for all anime too. The original japanese episodes with english subtitles is the best option. Just wait 'till you see Itachi, he's much stronger and cooler than Sasuke.

I guess that for those who born speaking english, it might be a little unusual. Here, it's of general knowledge that a movie or a series in it's native thong it's of superior quality than a dubbed one, doesn't matter the quality of the dub, it would even be weird to see a series like lost or 24 dubbed.

As for animes, in my opinion it doesn't matter how good they're dubbed it always has that feeling of morning cartoons.

I'm having a real difficulity picking favourite anime males and females. I'm tempted to say Neon Genesis Evangelion characters, but it's impossible to pick favourites from that.

I think for the minute for the anime male, I'm going to pick:

Consistently funny, a hilarious character design and always entertaining to watch.

It's a toss up between Brock, Shinji Ikari, Vash the Stampede and Son Goku. Whilst I can acknowledge Vash and Goku's awesomeness, I also acknowledge that Shinji is too flawed a person to be a first-choice favourite. Then there's Keitaro from the Love Hina Manga, who showed real growth from a loser into a most admirable person. It's hard to decide, so Brock it remains... for now.

For the anime female, I have absolutely no idea. I don't really have many anime females I can truly consider a favourite. Sure, they're designed to be beautiful with immense boobs and trim figures but none really cry out to me instantly as a favourite. If you demand an answer, just pick either Rei or Asuka from Evangelion.

Completely forgot bout Neji even though he's my fav genin, but that being said all the guys from Naruto have their moments - kakashi and gai are too other great characters. Mugan from Samurai Champloo was my fav dude from that show, still got to get the last 3 episodes from my mate on that note. Always liked Kenshin and Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X). I again want to say that NO ONE should watch the naruto fillers, and if you do, ignore everything you watched in the end of the episode. So please don't lose the respect to that character. Remember, the fillers don't count. They'r void of any meaning.

Whoops sorry about that i thought everyone was up to date atleast up till the fillers. Well i could put spoiler tags around it but now that you've quoted it it seems a bit pointless eh?

Yeh i know i shouldn't lose respectin him because it was a filler but still that, (highlight for small spoiler) Image of him laughing for ages really gets stuck in your mind. And you get to see the bottome of his face which i think ruins it and put him out of character.

Please, its far more deeper than that.
Haruhi Suzumiya is incredibly complex at its core but the fact is it doesn't reveal that till episode 4.

It also has some really loveable characters and a great supporting cast. Plus the order is all over the place which makes it alot more entertaining.

Theres only 4 episodes left anyway.

Well, i've just seen 3 eps, but i like the animation, the randomness of the episode order, the fact that the story is told 1st person and the fact that it's crazy.:p

Some points:
The main character is Haruhi, but done from Kyon's POV. Very strange.

The first episode, is infact the last (apparently, however an episode mid series talks about this film again). Its a piss take, a film for their school.
