I have mixed interests in Higurashi, one part of my brain acts like the BBFC and censors me from watching it, another part of it is curious about its plot and story.
What to do, what to do...
I'm downloading GITS: SAC Solid State Society-i hope it's good!
Also on my list is the entirety or Gravitation, Pokemon series 1 and Higurashi.

It's not a bad idea to do that ('that' being the idea of compiling lists of recommended anime or creating a second thread) for this board but to be honest... the anime fanbase on these boards isn't huge. There's only about 5-10 of us that come back to this thread regularly and it occasionally drops to page 2. It never hurts when people ask for recommendations to simply discuss with them the series they might like. I personally don't care if that topic comes up repeatedly, this is a discussion thread for anime after all, and people can't be expected to search through it every time. Also even if they look at a list, no matter how complete you try to make it, there will be suggestions and disagreements and thus the conversation will continue to spread anyway.
I appreciate the gesture and the hard work you've offered to put in. If you want to do it anyway, go ahead, but personally for this quaint anime fanbase we have here, I'm not sure how necessary it is. After all, there are plenty of lists out there of shonen and shoujo etc that people can find new suggestions from anyway. I prefer our personal touch :) I myself have found more than one new series thanks to asking you guys (as soon as my new iPod arrives, I'll be getting on the train with episodes 10-20 of Hikaru no Go :D)Which should i start watching first Bleach or Eureka 7? Eureka Seven, you can watch the whole thing (50 episodes) before you get lost in Bleach (129 episodes and counting) ;)

Although you have to wait Shadow you'll have a great dvd set of the series with all the limited edition stuff.

I find it on the whole awesome, plus most of bad stuff is referred to rather than shown. But yeah, it's more about story and mystery than violence.
Also, I reckon an N-E anime recommendation wiki would be cool. I'd add to it.

Well, I don't think they should be ordered. Just a database with comments and maybe ratings from those who have watched... perhaps you could rank them with average ratings though.

Indeed, however a wiki, if made, will probably be deleted. So a thread on here seems the best or only way of going about it.

I think it should just be alphabetically ordered.
Maybe have the name, then underneath it a brief over view of what it's about. Even a little summary of each episode what people thought of it.
I would'nt say put any rating. I thought of this to be only for someone to go have a look, scroll down through the list, looking at the name, reading what it's about, what other forumites think of it. If they lik the sound of it and someone else liked it then they could give it a try. Not basing it on a rating.
On another note, Pani Poni Dash finally finished and I've also got all Bleach episodes. Now to watch Bleach and get up to date on another anime.

A nice thing to add would be a "Users that have watched it" below every anime, and it would list... well, all of the users that have watched it. It would be a good way to see the popularity of the anime or to know of an anime seen by a user you know that has similar tastes.

I've got a nice template page as well, that gives you code for the basic page.
It's going to include headings for:
Genre
Sum it up in a sentence
Main Description
If you liked this you may like
Personal Opinions
Links
Anything else you guys think should be added?
EDIT: Also, what genres should there be, I was thinking:
* Action
* Comedy
* Drama
* Fantasy
* Horror
* Mystery
* Romance
* Sci-Fi
* Sports
Obviously it could be in more than one.

I'm not familiar with any sort of coding language, I'm so baffled as what to do but I want to kind of create one.
I've done this (http://www.twozzok.com/neanime/index.php?title=Fullmetal_Alchemist), putting in the name of the anime.
I copied the template in the page it says to copy the template but it didn't look right.
Edit: I just realised I could see the coding Sanchez has done, much easier just to use that :heh:
Maybe add Adventure to the list of Genres?
I started watching Death Note, just watched episode 2 and so far it is probably the one of the best animes I've seen so far.
Can someone just fill me in on how many episodes there are and if it is still running. Also where does the film fit into the series?
Thanks very much!

Done a Fullmetal Alchemist (http://www.twozzok.com/neanime/index.php?title=Fullmetal_Alchemist) one. Needs more added. Oh and I uploaded an image, and then read something about copyright, is there any way to get rid of it? I just get worried about those things.

Apparently, they're only in second year of highschool. Which is still the first volume of the manga. Nest year apparently starts the second volume, and just for that year they've released 3 volumes. Now while they could just end it when they graduate from high school, they do have plenty of material. So it's amazing.

OK WTF, did anyone else know Anime Network is showing on Sky?
They got a 2 hour slot every sunday on channel 195,
It started 3 weeks ago, how did I miss it, damned, means i've missed the first 3 eps of the shows they are showing.
Coyote Ragtime, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Guyver: Bio Boosted Armour and Elfen Lied.
I've actually not heard of Coyote Ragtime before, but I would love to see Eva seeing as i never did see it fully (just a few eps here and there and the two movies i got on DVD), the new Guyver i've been really looking forward too, i've been planning on saving for the DVDs, so great that i can now see it on TV (although i've missed the first 3 eps).
And Elfen Lied i've already seen in full, which i absaloutely loved, will be interesting to watch it with the english dub as i have it subbed on my comp.
Hopefuully if they get more ratings they'll push for a bigger time slot and get even more shows on. The downside is they don't repeat during the week so if you miss an ep there's no second chance :heh:

It's so incredibly worth it though, then you also have the OVA's for the last part of the story which haven't all been released yet. So it's more liekly ro be over 200 episodes.
As I said, I personally think it's worth it though some of the matches do drag on for a tad too long.

I decided to watch it, Evangelion was great, but thats probably because of the decent Dub. Coyote and Guyver seemed piss poor (Guyver especially reminded me of a pretencious love child of power rangers and DBZ)
Elfen Lied, ill probably watch that on the internet in Japanese, as i watched quite a bit of it in English but because the show is fully comprised of women, the voice acting just wasnt doing anything for my sanity. LOVE the opening to E.L though.
My rating:
Cowboy thing - Stuck with it for 5 mins, was dreadful 1/10
Evangelion - Wonderful, such a non-atmospheric episode, which i wierdly thought worked 9/10
Guyver - *farts* 0/10
Elfen lied - has whet my curiosity, will continue watching it. 6/10
Presenters though? They seem Genuine and quite normal, no Ant and Dec though :heh:

I'm on episode 35 I think,got 15 left to watch which i'm trying to save for DVD but temptation is always there.
So to get rid of the urge I read the manga that I get with it,man Lincks funny it.I've got first 6 volumes on DVD which is up to episode 26.
I remember some episodes where astounding and left me :eek:
Also about Noein.Just watched the extras on it,2 alternate intros are cool,second one is my favorite I think.And there are cut outs of episodes and they change the dialogue so funny.
Bit where Yuu and Haruka is in the cab car and Karasu is holding them and Yuu goes "Oh no it's Crispen Freeman!" and when Yuu covers his head when Karasu shouts at him he goes "Don't hurt me Crispen".There's more Crispen ones but that's for later.
Also when Haruka and Ai leave that girl with glasses house and her mums with her,her mum goes you choose your bitches well.
After graveyard seen(I think) when Yuus mum takes him home,she moans and says "Haruka was there aswell wasn't she ,I can't believe her mum lets her f*** around with you" then you hear groaning from Yuu.
It's one of these things you have to watch,try youtube or something.Also there's a tour with the director and Harukas VA around Hakodate where Noeins set,looks like a lovely place.So worth £6.

When Giovanni said he only went to the bank on the 25th of each month (year?) he only went once. He went to the bank to go and write Takada's name in the Death Note. Going to the bank twice was unusual for him.
Damnit it was in my head a minute ago and now it's gone.
Takada's name had been written down in the notebook a minute after Light had already done so. Damnit I can't remember.
Totally not the ending I expected. I was in two minds at which way I wanted it to go, but I suppose the way it went was good.
Is there an anime out there thats similar to the Dragon Ball /z/gt series???

The Death Note anime endding is different to the manga's ending.
After trying to continue writing Near's name with his blood and finger, Matsuda shoots him again, blowing away the paper and immobilizing him. Light begs Mikami to kill everyone, but Mikami cries out that Light is not a god, and that his stupidity caused this situation. Light then calls out to Misa to kill everyone, but Near reminds him that Misa is at a hotel. Light then calls out to Takada, but Near reminds him that Takada is dead.
In a last ditch effort to eliminate his opposition, Light begs Ryuk to write their names down in his Death Note. Ryuk announces that he is going to write "it" in the notebook. Everyone shoots at Ryuk, but the bullets go straight through him. Light shouts out in glee that he has won. However, Ryuk says that he is not writing their names in his Death Note, but rather Light's. He says that Light's situation is hopeless and that if Light needs Ryuk's help, he's already lost. Light remembers what Ryuk said about Heaven and Hell; there is no Heaven and Hell; there is only one place everyone goes to when they die, and that is Mu, or nothingness. Light pleads for his life to no avail as Near and the rest watch him die. Mikami dies ten days later after going insane in prison.
Thereafter, Near becomes the new L. A year later, through fate, L and Light's former colleagues work together to stop a ring of normal drug dealers in the same warehouse they had their meeting in a year earlier. The world realizes that Kira is gone, and crime increases again.
Misa fell into despair after learning of Light's death through Matsuda and committed suicide a year later, on February 14, 2011.
Matsuda questions the situation that took place a year earlier. He questions the fact that Mikami, being the careful perfectionist that he was, would have checked to see if the Death Note was the real one and tested it before he set out to the warehouse to eliminate the SPK.
He suspects that Near may have used the Death Note to control Mikami and stop him from testing it. Because Near burned both of the real Death Notes at the scene, any evidence that could implicate him would have been destroyed. The fact that Mikami died ten days later only solidifies Matsuda's theory. However, Ide (another member of the taskforce) tells Matsuda that even if his theory were true, there is no evidence, and if Near had lost to Kira, none of them would be alive today.
Followers of Kira continue to exist thereafter and worship his ideals of justice.

While the intro is nothing like them, at 7 seconds (that shout with he jumpy riff) it's classic System. Though they'll generally do a little fill before starting the shout again. At 19 seconds, it's sound like Violent Pornography, i was expecting a high pitch woohoo, in there somewhere. 24 Seconds, it goes higher pitch and louder, Just like system do on a couple of songs.

Death Note special is going to air sometime this summer during Golden Time (Japan's equivalent of prime-time, a.k.a. NOT at the usual Tuesday at 2am). What will happen during it? Presumably we'll find out what happened to all the characters after the final episode.
People need to watch ghost in the shell, the Deathnote phenomenon has swept all other anime out of discussion.

Well I though it was pretty gripping actually...
especially Matsuda losing his self control, and the ending sequence where Ryuk writes Light in his Death Note causing him to die.

good point, maybe i was just not in a sentimental mood this afternoon.
It was gripping but I didn't find it sad. I pitied Light in the end especally seeing him act like that when he was finaly revealed to everyone. He turned his back on everyone who trusted and believed in him and in the end he died alone. Strangly enough something he has in common with L.

I loved all of those films(ok urotsukodoji:legend of the demon womb was so violent it was funny:)). Grave of the fire flies was very emotional i thought it was great. My favourites are priness mononoke and akira
Yea, Mononoke hime rocks. I didn't quite get Akira...even though I have it on dvd and have watched it a couple times...

You've been hearing a lot about Death Note because it IS the latest cool one. It's the best anime ever to me, and if you'd watch it I don't think your opinion of it will be much different. It's not too long either, 37 episodes. And if you still can't get enough there are two live action Death Note movies, and a third one on the way (so I hear).

There's only 238 episodes of Naruto i'm pretty sure. It wasn't that hard to watch them all and catch up. It took ages but it was worth it.
Catching up with Bleach is damn awesome aswell. Don't miss out on these.

I know this sounds very vague but this has been driving me insane the past few days.
I´m trying to remember a name of an anime i saw when i was about maybe 5-6 not really sure. I remember very little of it except it was a children's anime had robots (human sized) and had something to do with fairy tails, the robots where transported or something into different worlds (i think the fairy tails was just one part) to stop some other robots and it was in full length.
Just want to see it again to see if i only enjoyed because i was so young :Þ

That would be because the correct name of the series is actually 舞-HiME, which can be romanised in a variety of ways. Using Hepburn, it comes out as Mai-HiME, which I prefer as it preserves all but one of the puns in the name. However, both Sunrise and the official translation go with My-HiME as the romanisation, which gives the remaining pun.

Zero no Tsukaima ~Futazuki no Kishi~: In the world of Zero no Tsukaima, everyone who can use magic is a mage or noble. Everyone else is a commoner and is treated less equally. Louise can never use her magic the way she wants to and every time she uses it there always seems to be an explosion (but there might be something hidden inside of her). Louise attends an academy for mages and is always getting into trouble and has been dubbed the name "Louise the Zero", because she cannot use any of the four elements, which are fire, water, earth, air/wind. There also is a fifth element called Void that has become nothing but a legend. On the day of summoning their familiars (a special day where a mage summons their eternal protector/partner, which usually is some sort of creature) Louise summons a human from planet Earth. Louise is totally humiliated. She treats "Saito" her human familiar as any other creature, making him sleep on the floor and eat leftovers (upon other actions). One day Saito challenges a noble who thinks he is better than commoners to a duel. Saito is beaten bad at the beginning, but once a sword was put in Saito's hands he gains amazing powers and wields the sword with great ability. Louise and Saito during the course of the story face many mysteries and uncover unexpected truths.
MoeTan: Otaku learn English.
July 12
Mononoke: Spin-off of the story from the anime Ayakashi.
July 19
Shigurui: Beautiful and ultra violent samurai manga gets an anime adaptation by MadHouse and the director of TexHolyze.
July 26
Baccano!: Baccano is Italian for noise, but Narita translates it as "stupid commotion." Each of the stories in the series involves several unrelated plots intersecting and crossing each other as events spiral farther and farther out of control. Immortal alchemists, mafia operated speakeasies, and many other elements of pulp fiction mashed together for a world straight out of the movies.
ZOMBIE-LOAN & Baccano! for me. :)

Some of those pictures looks good, but I can't figure out which picture is with which title because I don't read that language and I don't think its in order. I like the look of Zombie Loans though.
Sorry about bumping this thread, but I didn't think posting a seperate topic would go down well :P
Funimation announced the VA cast for their OP dub and here's the lineup:
Luffy: Colleen Clinkenbeard
Robin: Stephanie Young
Sanji: Eric Veil
Usop: Sonny Straight
Nami: Lucy Christian
Zorro: Christopher Sabat
Not suprised about Sabat playing Zolo (or Zoro apparently FUNI is going to call him Zoro in the uncut dub).
Sonny as Usopp is lol (Krillen from DBZ).
As for the other actors I'm not sure as I've never really heard them before. Nami I like. Luffy I'm unsure about though I'm glad they are using a female to voice him. Sanji unfortunatly I don't like. And Chopper. Robin is a massive improvement though :P
Funimation will be dubbing the original intro's (:() and they will be dubbing Movie 8.
I hope they include the Japanese dub on the DVD's as I like them better overall.
