I find this very interesting, but it kinda put me off a little. 'This is an event you must not miss. Wii promise'
Wasnt that the main focus of the GC event, proving the wii's promise? Any ways, it seems NOE are going full throttle with this event, maybe their excited because it'd actually be the best thing they report for a long time?

Its gotta be announced this month if they plan to launch in this quatre, they need to start the hype-mobile going and making every one aware.
But the fact NOE are teasing so much puts me off, as they are absolutely useless at pleasing the european crowd, I wish they'd prove me wrong, but the only decent thing i've seen them do is get the DS out within 3 months.

Not officially, few sources say we will hear what we're dying to hear at these events, but those sources arent Nintendo.

This is the show. This is when the release date gets announced. There's no other way they could announce as Nintendo seems to give the TGS a pass. So there.

There wouldn't be a seperate European event if the launch details weren't announced, because that's regional information.

At the very least we'll get in-depth information about various launch games, but stop worrying everyone, something will happen this event and i'd be willing to bet money (if I have any) that Nintendo will announce launch details this week.

Because NOE are totally unreliable and they are building up the hype train for this event. Again, im hoping they prove me wrong.

I'm just worried. All the conferences (except E3's) have been a total let-down. This isn't E3, so it's still not 100% certain we'll get a launch date, we may get everything else though.

I'm not worried about the conferences, they have to be about the Wii's launch. What else could they be about? Remember when the Gamecube release date was announced? That had it's own conference too and this seems like the same kind of promotion. I'm not worried at all - roll on 14th and 15th!! :grin:

Come on! You think Nintendo would have three almost simultanious events worldwide for nothing? We will know all the launch details and a lot of games will be playable. We know it's comming out in Q4, even in Europe. That means the have to say something now in september, so retailers can prepare for launch. And we know they wont be at TGS...

Do you think that these 3 conferences can be symbolic? As in symbolic to the Wii's launch? The launch of the Wii will be on the same day in Japan and the USA (just like the conference) with Europe see the Wii released the next day?

Or it couldn't be down to the time difference between the countries, why else would Nintendo decide to host Europe's conference on the 15th instead of the 14th, its not impossible.

Anyway, thats my rant over. I'm 99.9999999% sure that we will know everything on Friday, shame that I will be working on the friday (1:45 pm to 2am) so I won't find out until when I get back :(

oh this is definitely it alright... and all this talk of NOE letting us down, we all thought that with the GDC but in hindsight they proved the promise they set out last year, and it was just the net that hyped it up, even the magazines didn't hype it, so i'm not worried at all.

so can anyone tell us what time (british time that is) the japan and US conferences start? i have no idea how far ahead/behind japan is, and i forget about new york's difference...

and is there a live stream for them all that anyone knows about...?

I have no worries about the conference thing. You don't invite several members of the press to an event just to fob them off with trivialities. Imagine the write-ups:

Nintendo touts new colour Wii to yawns of approval
Nintendo Reveals Nada
etc...

I think it's going to be big. With hopefully a surprise or too. And if not, hopefully they will cover virtually unknown features such as the VC and Connect24, which on paper have sounded OK, but when experienced hands-on will impress the crowd.

it is odd that sony released the info about the Europe release date days before the nintendo press conferences. the Wii will look all the more better for it. maybe they were hoping nintendo were going to do the same thing. sony release the info before nintendo have committed i wonder????

EDIT: i believe the US conference is 15:00 GMT so 16:00 BST current uk time zone. i think give or take an hour and the uk one is 12:00 - 18:00 BST which would be 11:00 - 17:00 GMT. i dont know about the Japan one.

True those 1000 stars were the best i spent on anything, but aswell as that it was £130, which was actually the full price of the ds and game. All we got extra was the wario ware demo, and that t-shirt, which i still have.
I my opinion i think it was a bit of a rip off, but i was glad to get it early, and would do the same for the Wii if it popped up.
I think i have about £100 odd saved up for this now. Im so hyped, il be annoyed if i cant go to a midnight launch, as soon as i find out the date im off to my mum or dad. probably dad, mum cant stay up till at least 10, but then wakes up at 6 in the morning... silly....another story.

The quality of the graphics are bothering a lot of people so far, but in the upcoming days, once and for all we shall know the full capabilities of the system. Underpowered graphics is something people may have to accept but even with the innovative Wiimote, Nintendo will lose sales due to this, not too many though, as DS has shown [Gameplay over graphics].

i got hyped about 3DO before it came out, but then thanks to panasonic's non-existent marketing and huge price the machine flopped :( i didn't get one till a year after launch too!! imagine not being able to get a Wii until 12 months after its release and you'll know the torture i went thru lol!

got my GC six months after launch and it was an impulse by, so no hype for me. the DS i was looking forward to the midnight launch but wasn't overly hyped. was really looking forward to it i have to say, but now being online talking to you lot and seeing the Wii in action i am PUMPED!! this is the first time i've been so involved in the pre-launch "circus" and i'm loving it... but can't wait until it's over too!
