Revo-europe have known this for a looooooooong time."

Does anyone know what was removed? What exclusive title will be in the September 1st issue of ONM?

We don't know.

Most likely the poster was referring to a sign on our main page saying "something big is coming", which was referring to our name change.

Nothing was removed from his post, thats just what he originally put.

It better be a brand new AAA game for Wii.

They were talking about the free gift in that thread, which is the Zelda DVD that someone here found out about a few weeks ago.

Yes! We all know!! It's this forum most protected secret (along with the eugenics project), and it's kept that way by a blood pact.

And now you must die.

I have the only 3 volumes (or was that 4?) that existed of the ONM. They got pulled out on the 3th one. No buyers i suppose. There as been no ONM in Portugal since then. I think it was just a translated version of the UK one. I don't know if they sell the UK one around here, but i wanted that DVD too.

Well, this certainly will be a World Exclusive to Nintendo fans who don't have internet access.

Yeah, both of them.

This is Pathetic

I have a much more uglier word for it. Misappropriation.

What a load of crap. Some world exclusive, a game that was announced a week ago.

How sad. Maybe next month...

I understand their world exclusive is 10 pages of screenshots with time spent playing the game. No other mag had an exclusive demo of BWii.:hmm:

Magazines are never really that useful for info the UK, not many developers willing to tell UK editorials.

ONM suck any ways, chances are this 'exclusive' zelda info is the fact they changed the controls, another piece of info that was revealed last week.

People should understand that most gamers don't watch religiously game news from the net.

It has to be a ploy. They're going to blow us away soon with some amazing news. Probably.

I mean ffs, Battalion Wars 2 - who on earth asked for that?

September 14th/15th better be good Nintendo! You're shaking my faith with these shite and underwhelming announcements.

I wouldn't hold your breath.

Don't expect 'big' news from ONM ever because it always is stuff we already found out a week or so earlier....

I'll eat my hat if ONM surprise us.....ever.

It's a good mag, just slightly behind in the news front which is probably the most important section.

It's ashame. Makes me very nervous about Europes future concerning the Wii. I haven't really been made to believe that Europe are going to be treated differently with Wii release dates are anything yet. We still seem to be behind.

This can also be seen in the DS release schedule. We're still waiting 2 months for games to be released after USA (take Mario Basketball and Starfox for example). It's not good enough.

Im still sticking to the fact that their exclusive Zelda info is the change in Wii controls, and if im right, im going to lol at every single zelda fan who believed ONM would have an exclusive.

But, the DVD may show it in action, therefore making ONM of some use.

knightendo
01-09-2006, 02:28 AM
well it won't be the controls as ngamer has done that one, and it's made by the same publisher.

and ffs!!! it's a magazine, the net's news is instantaneous, it's hardly fair to say it's ONM's fault we've heard something here first ffs!!! if you don't like reading magazines instead of the net, then just don't! as far as i could see this thread was put here for those of us who DO like ONM, and as popular as any web site can get, a magazine will always have more readers than any one website folks. and just because you've read a few little online tales of BWii doesn't mean the tens of thousands of readers have! and to get the story published so soon after the GDC is great! more screens, hands-on, developer interviews most likely too. and, as someone posted over at the ONM forum: Remember IGN claiming a massive, giant exclusive and it was Table Tennis? Spong claiming there'd be amazing announcements and it was a pink PS2? It's the same sorta thing."

and for the last time - blame the net for that resi thing, NOT the mag!!! it was some fools on the net who didn't even read it properly, and stupid people who didn't check up on it that let the "story" get outta hand!

and the net isn't exactly consistent with its news either. the reason i choose to stay with n-europe is because they seem to double-check everything first and they are a very trustworthy news team.

now, personally, i love this site, but a magazine will always have more in-depth news stories and previews, and an official magazine will always have more exclusive hands-on features and interviews with developers, publishers and the big N themselves. i use the net to get my news quickly, the magazines to get more in-depth with the same stories, they can both co-exist very easily.

and all that extra info they have on BWii was given to them b4 anything appeared at GDC, yes that doesn't make the release of the game an exclusive, but they DO have more info than you've read before i'd wager. heck, it's still an exclusive in the magazine world anyway.

now to me, it sounds like some people could be bitter that it isn't NOM anymore, or some people are elitist towards the internet and simply don't like magazines. fair enough. personally though...

i love ONM.
and i love n-europe. :)

and ffs!!! it's a magazine, the net's news is instantaneous, it's hardly fair to say it's ONM's fault we've heard something here first ffs!!!

Actually there is no reason why the Official Nintendo magazine Can't have an exclusive piece of information or news before it gets released on the intenet.

Rockstar north For example usually release exclusive information on their games to magazines before gaming sites (Like every screenshot shown of Vice city stories so far has been shown magazines and not officially given to any site to show)

They are the Official magazine, so you'd think Nintendo would let them know some info before anyone else and give them some exclusives. Isnt that the main draw of the Offcial tag? that they will get some new info before anyone else will?

People assume that when a magazine in 2006 has bold claims of “EXCLUSIVE TITLE” that it doesn’t mean “Exclusive title…just so long as you have not read anything on the internet.

heck, the Bwii 2 stuff was on teletext the following morning after the Game con.

according to what i've now seen on the net, nintendo weren't meant to reveal BWii at GDC, they changed their minds at the last minute. hardly the mag's fault, was nintendo's. just bad luck for the mag as it was probably completed already at the time.. :S

they do get exclusive news still, and don't forget about the interviews, hands-on and in-depth stuff about what we hear snippets of online. still a mighty fine read i must say, love it to bits :D

and at least i know now why my subscription won't arrive until tomorrow (friday, so later on this morning i should say) which is also when it's out in the shops, as the news wasn't allowed out before release date. shame ninty dropped the ball at GDC on them!

Just got the magazine this morning. The BWii feature is all right, but to be honest, I'm not really interested in the game anyway. No new Zelda news or screenshots - just everything we've read and seen before. They do say there'll be new screens in two issues time, though - I should think so too!

One thing that caught my eye, though, was the fact that the closing date for their 'Win a Wii' competition is November 6th. They promise that they'll deliver the consoles to the winners on launch day, so that pretty much rules out an October launch. Looks like it's going to be here at the same time as the PS3, if not after. :(

I can't stress this enough - screw ONM, get NGamer instead. They actually know the MEANING of "exclusive". They probably keep checking the dictionary and everything. They broke the news about REmake when they were NGC. They went for months being accused as liars when they revealed Zelda-wiimote. If they have an exclusive they just sodding tell you, usually before anyone else. ONM don't have jack.

glad to see there's people on here who appreciate a good magazine when they see one and aren't bent outta shape by it not being NOM anymore, or getting annoyed that a magazine's news can't be as fast as the net. and don't get me started on those pathetic "resi wii" and "bwii not exclusive" jabs too lol.

just started reading the new issue, definitely seems the best yet, with a huge 10 page blow-out of bwii with cool interviews and hands-on, looking good! the zelda history feature looks great too, looking forward to that! and yes there IS a coupla new screens and further details. worth picking up.

the full list of contents for the dvd is as such:

DVD features:
Info - readable info on all ninty-based zelda games and cameo appearances.
Screens - slideshow movies of the above.
Movies - trailers and "favourite moments" of each zelda game.
Music - 14 music tracks from the history of zelda.

additional DVD-ROM features:
Wallpapers - Link To The Past/4 Swords (x1), 4 Swords Adventures (x4), The Minish Cap (x3), Wind Waker (x2)
Buddy Icons - 4 Swords Adventures (x9), Soul Caliber 2 (x1), The Minish Cap (x1), Super Smash Bros Brawl (x1), Twilight Princess (x1), TriForce (x1)
MP3 Tunes - Legend Of Zelda (x2), Link To The Past (x2), Ocarina Of Time (x2), Majora's Mask (x2), Wind Waker (x4), Special Edition Promo (x1), Soul Caliber 2 (x1)

I never read NOM - I didn't have any Nintendo consoles back then.
I don't care that the magazine doesn't have up-to-date news, I read other gaming mags and they all suffer from that problem.

The way to overcome it is good writing and interesting articles, something PC Gamer and Edge achieve but ONM seemed to have no concept of in the two issues I read. Even the official 360 magazine has more real content instead of just reeling off the official press releases about each game.

That said, 10 pages about BWii does sound like a lot - fair play to them if they managed to get some decent content. I just won't be buying the magazine again. If I'm desperate for paper-based Nintendo text I'll pick up NGamer.

Why are people so, so bothered about exlusives in ONM falling through???
I buy it because it's a good read, is funny but knows when to be serious, has very in-depth infomation, and the latest issue has a big BWii preveiw and a very nice free gift.
It's easily an acceptable replacement for Cube, though it will never live up to that. No games magazine will.

*awaits Cube slagging off*

Oh, and NOM was shite.

By the way, I got my Cube back off a mate yesterday, and BW is really, really good(I'm gonna play RE4 later-expect no to see me post again tonight...). I'm about to go to the shops with my dad and I'm gonna get the latest ONM (if they have it, they don't always, the basteds) in order to check out this big-arse BWii preview and also to get my hands on the DVD-based Zelda goodies!

Was reading it at work and to deal with the whole competiton thing; it did say entries close on November 6th, but they could pick the winner that day and have it to the winners by the 8th (presuming it closes at midnight on the 6th). Granted thats a Wednesday so 10th is more likely.

But also, there could be one winner who gets it on release, and more later.

N64 and the early days of NGC were the best magazines, they rocked so hard and made me laugh so much. Now they've evolved into NGamer, and aside from not liking the graphical style too much, it is a return to quality form (all those footnotes are crazy!)

ONM is just as good at the moment though, immaculate even over the old NOM. Its cool that we have 2 good Nintendo mags again (though at one point we did have 3). But, dont know if you guys know this but, theres a new one coming out soon, curtesy of Imagine Publishing (the guys behind gamestm, retro gamer, powerstation, 360 mag, next3 and a whole load more besides). Those mags there ive read and they are all quality magazines so hopefully we will have that 3rd good Nintendo mag, plus these guys are stylish and glossy with their mags. It will be good for the presentation if nothing else.

I just subscribed to Edge instead.. I don't mind reading a preview of a 360 game.. literally that ONM was poor.
