Righto, whilst I am on my all nighter hunting for bargains from thie Game sale thingy. I caught a bit of The Mint inbetween my movie watching. Anyway there was this puzzle that went as follows:

Add the numbers
nineteen minus five =
4 + 3 x 2 =
6 - 5 =

25, 44 were some popular guesses but not the one. I even enlisted Flinky who was around to have a gander. By that time I had been watching Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels for around 40 minutes, and they were still on it!?

Any ideas. As it's driving Flinky and myself rather, as the programme goes, Round the Twist.

It's 25. Surely it's that simple.

The people that phone into these things are idiots.

Many people guessed 25 and were told they were wrong. There are many different ways to interpret it. One example is that I got 73.

Did anyone get it on the show? o0 Always wondered what it'll be like to try one of those Mint games.

I'm geting 20 from it 4+3+2 = 9 +6 = 15 + 5 = 20

25, the rules of maths say it got to be 25.....damn but its not!

I think it's 29.

19 - 5 = 14

4 + 3 x 2 = 14 (4 + 3 = 7 x 2 = 14)

6 - 5 = 1

14 + 14 + 1 = 29

I haven't watched The Mint since I finished Uni for the summer, but...

You know their safe thing? It has the 4 numbers on, right?

8646

I'm 100% sure that's it, if anyone feels like calling in.

It's possible that the answer is 44, in that the command is "add the numbers".

The only numbers we're actually given are 19, 5, 4, 3, 2, 6 and 5. It does not say "add the numbers of the results of these sums".

BODMAS! How i loathe thee...

Its all a big scam, they'l have loads of possible answers and one of the answers will be obscure.
People phone in, even if they have one of the correct answers, ITV play will cross it from the list of possible legit answers.

This will continue all the way through the night until some one finds an answer that is legit and nobody has used yet, thus ITV have to give him the answer, its all a con. The reason they stall this? Money.

They tried that several times apparantly, but yet, no winners.

However you could interperet as the sum of 19, -5, 4, 3, 2, 6 and -5, which leaves with the answer 24. That might be it.

These forums are filled with bored people :indeed:

It says add the numbers... What numbers are there? 4, 3, 2, 6 and 5. Add those and you get 20.

Kick me I'm bored too.

Add the numbers
nineteen minus five = 14
4 + 3 x 2 = 10
6 - 5 = 1

Now if it was 14+10+1 it would be 25, but if by add they mean just attach them, it's 14101

4 + 3+ 2 is NOT 10 my friend..
it is 9.

That would be correct, if it was a "+" and not an "x", and as far as I know multiplications are done before sums. It's the same as having 4 + (3 x 2) = 4 + 6 = 10

I saw a report on watchdog about how these shows with 'maths' puzzles are all big scams. Anyone who phones into these must be really stupid, seriously. People seem to win enough on the word puzzles but I cant stand the maths ones they always say some obscure anwser and dont say how they got it.
