Mario in Space...?

I was thinking this morning, and it occured to me that many years ago (either after the release of Super Mario 3 or Super Mario World) a UK magazine speculated that the next step for Mario would be a space adventure. They had mocked up some images, which i beleive included Mario being cool by smoking and the Princess looking rather prostitute-like.

Does anyone else recall this? Has anyone (unlikley) got these images in a box somewhere? With Mario Galaxy around the corner, it might be fun too look at these if anyone has them!
