I've recently been discussing tatoos with my buddy Laura. while we were on the subject I was thinking of stuff I would like as a design.

I decided I would quite actually like a trio of space invaders either across my bicep or on the old pecs. either that or pac man chasing pills around my arm. (from penny arcade that one! how cool am I?)

so. any of you fancy getting the ultimate nerd branding on your skin?

Anyway, anyone getting a tatoo should wait a few years, as soon they're introducing a new type of dye that allows them to be removed completely with only one laser treatment (so more effective and cheaper).

Personally, I'd never get a tatoo.

I was also discussing this with a mate on msn. rallying against the mortifying cliché that is japanese or elvish script tats. we decided that if we opened up a studio, nobody asking for these would be safe. A blanket policy of writing abusive phrases in said languages would be in effect.

some of our ideas were the likes of ' I can't read Japanese' and 'How on Middle Earth am I going to get laid now?'

I have an outline of the gates of Valhalla on my back that me and my mate both went and got done on my 17th, I'm too chicken to go and get it finished...don't even ask if it hurt (like a motherfucker)

Anyway, There was a convention where the organisers were giving away $1000 to anyone who went and got a scrubs tattoo...and I was seriously considering getting one done, but I didn't want to fork out £400 to get to LA to collect my prize.

I'd probably have an Aston Villa tattoo somewhere, but I might not get one depending on what my parents think of tattoo's. I might think, "sod it" and get a tattoo on my thigh, (I never show my thighs) But if I did I'd get an Aston Villa (possibly the outline of either the current badge or the 1982 badge.) Also, I'd have "Jeff Buckley: 1967 - 1997 RIP"

Anyway, you'd be okay to have a Triforce tattoo, because people who don't know what the Triforce is would see it as a Tribal emblem of sorts.

Each of my tattoos have a meaning for me (and i think its best to get a tattoo ONLY if it means something). The meaning of the triforce one comes from my own interpretation of the triforce and phoenix symbol (which is on the Hylian Shield) i see it as a symbol of protection. The phoenix i see is a symbol for Link (the protector) and of course the triforce represents both the power and people that must be protected.

The swords to me is a symbol of "Balance", kinda like the "ying-yang" symbol but i wanted something different. The way i interperate the relationship of Link and Ganondorf and the zelda story its the perfect relationship of a balance of good and evil. IE: Link can't kill Ganondorf only seal him in another realm, but when Link dies Ganondorf is released and evil takes over and in order for balance to be restored a new Link is born to seal him again.

Then the Phoenix on my back is a symbol for second chances and to remind me no matter how bad things might get to never give up and keep moving forward, IE: in the legend of the Phoenix when it dies it is reborn from its own ashes, i mean things can't get worse than death but the phoenix finds a way back.

The dragon, well although its a western style dragon i like how in eastern cultrues the dragon is a symbol of honor.

The flags should be obvious, i'm irish born and raised but from my mother i also have roots in the philippines

Thinking of it just can't come up with a design yet, i'd like to get my chest done also and something more on my back but again no solid ideas. I have this one idea for a celtic cross in the middle of my chest with a chain on it around my neck like a necklace but i'm looking for some sort of new orginal cross design.

I'm also thinking of something related to Tales of Symphonia since that game deal with so many issues a tattoo based on it could have so many meanings, also something from Fullmetal Alchemist for similar reasons
