Is there an official PSN ID list anywhere of you guys? I want to add some of you (as no one has added me yet! :heh:) but not sure of the IDs
There was on somewhere in this thread but both me and Caris have sold our PS3s so if you find our names then just scratch them off the list. I know both Owen and Dom still have theirs though.

Why did you sell your PS3 HoT?
I sold it about a month after I got it. Basically it was due to the lack of games, I mean there was only Resistance, Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank that I wanted to play. I LOVED Resistance but after that there was nothing for a while so I just sold it. I will pick another 1 up when Metal Gear gets released, still not happy that it got delayed :(
Im pretty happy with what I have got at the moment I mean the Wii and 360 pretty much have me set for the end of the year and beginning of next.

Ai, after owning the PS3 for what 3 months I still have not purchased one game for it... I always choose the Xbox 360 version of the game for the achievements.
Maybe I should sell mine as well, and pick up one later when White Knight or MGS4 comes out... If I sold it here in town I would probably make a profit.

I'm hoping the PS3 dry spell is over for the time being. Even though I'll be buying all my non exclusives on the 360, I'm hoping for some good experiences on the PS3. Home and Little Big Planet should be fun at the very least.

CAPCOM® ANNOUNCES DEVIL MAY CRY® 4 COLLECTOR'S EDITION
Four Episode Anime DVD, SteelbookTM Case and Bonus Disc Included
Capcom® Entertainment, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced the contents of the Devil May Cry® 4 Collector’s Edition package, which includes volume 1 of ADV Films’ Devil May Cry: The Animated Series, a Steelbook™ case and a bonus DVD filled with extras. The $79.99 Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition will be available February 5, 2008, for both the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.
The Devil May Cry: The Animated Series anime disc will be packed with the Steelbook case, and will include the first four episodes of the 12 episode anime series. Volume one of the four-disc DVD anime series will be available from ADV Films at the same time the game launches. Inside the case will be a second bonus DVD alongside the game that users can slip into their computers. The bonus DVD will contain a “making of” feature on the game, music from the Devil May Cry 4 soundtrack, a digital art book with images and sketches from the development team, wallpapers, icons and screen savers.
The highly anticipated Devil May Cry 4 immerses gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist clashes with series mainstay Dante. As new leading man Nero players will be able to unleash incredibly powerful and stylish attacks and non-stop combos using a combination of the Devil Bringer arm and the Exceed system, both of which are new gameplay mechanics for the series. Fans of Dante won’t be disappointed as he too will be playable during the course of the game.
Devil May Cry 4 is an epic story where the lines between good and evil are constantly blurred. Taking full advantage of the advanced graphical and processing power of the next-gen systems and Windows PC it draws gamers into the rich and highly detailed world of Fortuna and its surrounds with more enemies than ever before and some of the most breath-taking bosses ever conceived.
Devil May Cry 4 includes the following features:
• From the producer of the original Devil May Cry® and Resident Evil® 4
• 2 playable characters – take control of both Nero & Dante
• High-definition visuals moving at 60 frames per second
• Blend of familiar and new: newcomer Nero clashes with veteran Dante plus appearances from Trish, Lady and others from the DMC series
• Exceed System allows Nero to easily charge up his sword with a throttle effect, revving up to three levels with powerful and varied attack options
• Deep combo system rewards stylish dispatching of enemies
• Unique "Devil Bringer" arm opens up a range of never seen before combo options
• Distinct set of weaponry and moves for Nero and Dante
• New active style change system for Dante allows him to switch styles and weapons on the fly, producing crazy combo possibilities
• Numerous new characters and environments
• Signature blend of guns and swordplay
Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition contains the following extras:
• Volume 1 of ADV Film’s Devil May Cry: The Animated Series on DVD, including four complete episodes of the anime (a retail value of $29.99)
• Unique Steelbook™ metal case
• Bonus DVD
o Making of Devil May Cry 4
o Music from the soundtrack
o Digital artbook
o PC content (screen savers, wallpapers, icons)

New PS2 is on its way.
Live in Japan? Get out that big red magic marker. November 22nd sees the arrival of a redesigned PS2 (SCPH-90000). While rumored to retail for under US $100, the redesigned PS2 will sell for ¥16,000 (US $140) and comes in Charcoal Black, Ceramic White and Satin Silver. The system has apparently been completely overhauled and features an built-in AC adaptator. It's internally powered! While the size is the same as the current PS2, the new one weighs slightly less. There's a special stand peripheral that is going on sale as well for 1,600 ($!4). All this is Japan-Only at the moment, but look forward to the inevitable Western launch. Hopefully at a lower price point!

We'd been hearing that Sony's new 40GB PS3 featured a revised design with a 65nm Cell processor and improved cooling, but sadly it looks like those reports were in error -- a Sony spokesperson has told Heise Online that the 40GB model continues to use 90mn processors, but does feature an updated design with a lower power consumption of just 120 to 140 watts, compared to 180 to 200 watts for the older models. Sony says its still planning on moving to 65nm processors in the near future, but for now, it looks like the PS3 is 90nm across the board.

Uncharted is amazing!
Yeah, I was bit worried just from looking at footage, but actually getting to play it has allayed my fears.
It won't be a revolutionary 10/10 game, but it looks to be a very well produced, solid adventure game, a genre that's been sorely ignored so far this generation. I've already played through the demo several times — I've found Hard to be really nicely balanced — and I'm looking forward to the game's release.

It controls wonderfully doesn't it? To me, it just felt extremely easy to navigate Nate and aim, fire etc..
I played a little bit of the demo, but then realised i didn't want to ruin any of the game so stopped playing it! I'm hopefully getting it for Christmas! I do love a good adventure game on Xmas day! :D

Playable demos of DMC 4 and Resi Evil 5 on Blu Ray "Resident Evil: Extinction"?
After much criticism was levelled at Sony for including a costly Blu-ray player inside its PlayStation 3 console, forthcoming Blu-ray movie release Resident Evil: Extinction is finally going to put it to good use.
The Russell Mulcahy-directed film, which received both commercial and some critical praise during its time at the box office, is to include playable PlayStation 3 demos of forthcoming games Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4.
Due for release in the New Year, the Blu-ray disc will also include innovations such as picture-in-picture video commentary and advanced disc search features that are new to the format.
Rumours also suggest the DVD edition will include trailers of the two games, though this is currently unconfirmed.

Sony halved the fees it charges for a software development kit for the PlayStation 3 video game machine Monday to encourage outside designers to make more games for the struggling console.
Sony Corp.'s gaming unit, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., said prices for the development package for the PlayStation 3 will be reduced to US$10,250 in North America, 950,000 yen (US$8,600; euro5,900) in Japan and euro7,500 (US$11,250) in Europe.

It lasts around 10 hours, which is twice the length of Call of Duty 4, and about the same length as Crysis, not bad really. Tomb Raider isn't really that long too, neither is Gears of War, which this game is a mixture of.
It's been getting great reviews though. I love forward to it in dec, just watched the gametrailers review ^_^

Uncharted reportedly has a lot of unlockables that can be bought using points earned through an Achievement-like 'Medal' system: for instance getting 10 headshots gives you some points to spend towards new character skins, developer videos, the ability to flip levels, etcetera. I'll play through it at least twice as there's apparently a new difficulty level to unlock, and I really enjoyed the demo on Hard.
I don't really have much time for multi-player these days, and when I do fancy some I tend to gravitate towards Warhawk. CoD4 is really great online, but much like Halo 3 I find myself strangely reluctant to play the game now that I have all the Achievements. Conventionally they make people persevere with games, but ironically they appear to be killing off titles I might have otherwise played.
I was thinking of getting a Ceramic White PS3 from japan. I know that at the moment all games are region free, but really want concrete assurance that it's gonna stay region free. Also would i be able to connect to the PSstore and play online etc?

Yes and yes to those last two questions. All you would need to do is create an EU account, and as online is free you don't need to worry about not being able to use your credit card or whatever.
Some games lock their online modes by region, I believe, so if you had the Japanese version you would only be able to play against others in that region. However, if you're planning on buying PAL games that shouldn't be an issue.
Technically Sony could start region locking game disks, and I'd imagine the ability is there but with the choice placed on the publisher much the same as Blu-Ray movies. I can't see that situation changing any time soon as the PS3 needs the good press and extra sales, but I wouldn't write it off as an impossibility further down the line.
Whenever you import it is something of a gamble, so really it just comes down to whether you're willing to risk it. I don't think anyone will be able to give you concrete assurances, I'm afraid.

Yeah, if you're on the latest firmware update.
My last comment i made in this thread regarding Uncharted wasn't meant to be fanboyish... if it came off like that.
Games without multiplayer of some sort (unless tacted on a la Prime 2 style) are really a crime. I mean, even if you hardly use it, its something extra from the main game. Not to mention i've heard Uncharted's gun play is quite stella.
And yeah, CoD4 is stupidly short... then again its better to be short than annoying like Assassin's Chore.
Domstercool
21-11-2007, 02:41 PM
So Assassin's Creed really does become a chore then? Heh. It's certainly a game I can't play for long periods at a time. I just get bored of it after a while.
Jordan
21-11-2007, 02:50 PM
If you don't do everything, its alright. There are some fantastic things in it: the combat is more like rhythm and timing, the free running is great when it works propperly.
But the objectives, the same thing OVER AND OVER. And it gets stupidly hard unless you play the game really cheap (for example, timed silent assassinations). Use blend, kill guy, walk off a little in blend, leg it. Rinse and repeat.

The BC is non exsistent on the PS3 models now as they removed that feature. In regards to what you should get I would get a PS2 over a PS3 at the moment simply because the PS3 lacks software. Also the fact that you want to play catch up with the PS2 it makes sense to go for that as there are MANY killer titles on the old girl.

Uncharted is brilliant :O Bloody loving it so far, the game is gorgeous, the main character is amusing and extremely likeable. Naughty Dog sure have a new franchise here that has to get a sequel!

I might go out and get a 40gb PS3 today, i played Uncharted at my mates yesterday and it was actually amazing. Least if i bought another PS3 i wouldnt actually of lost any money due to the massive price cut.

Yeah im toying with the same idea. Gamestation have a PS3 with 2 Blu-Ray movies and any 3 games for £400, that may be the way to go for me if I decided to go through with it.

Wow bold statement! Heh. The character Nate is certainly one of the best characters of the year. He's just so amusing and likeable. Something about him just makes you love him.

I agree, i played the demo and he seems like a real bloke who has just been thrown in at the deep end! His slightly a little too movie-starish, but hey! He's like a hero!
Singstar is officially THE best PS3 game i've played to date, watching others sing is hilarious! Espicially these four blokes (who i presumed where gay, sorry if i'm wrong) who danced about as though they were in a boyband! Excellent! Extremely camp but it's 07 and it worked, i gave em four or five out of five i think!
: peace:

From Kotaku
Konami may be looking to bring the Climax-developed prequel Silent Hill Origins to a wider audience next year with a PlayStation 2 port of the game. Released for the PSP worldwide this quarter, it now appears that Konami will have a PS2 version of the game ready for March of 2008. A fact sheet for the port was passed on to us this morning, courtesy of one of our tipsters, indicating that Climax would be responsible for the second release of the handheld horror title.
The official Climax site does mention that the group is working on a second unannounced project for Konami, but reps for the publisher have not yet responded to our request for confirmation that Silent Hill Origins for the PlayStation 2 is the unnamed title. If true, I certainly hope that Climax is giving the game a bit of a visual upgrade for those who passed on the on-the-go frightfest.
Yet another PSP game goes to the PS2.

From GT
So, Naughty Dog's Evan Wells has been answering questions over at ThreeSpeech. We're jealous, since you all should know how much we love Uncharted. Some of these questions are good, some are left for the more techno-savvy or tech-fetish folk. Check out the full Q&A session for the complete story.
- Wells indirectly says "no" to both multiplayer and DLC -- with all the medals and unlockables, no downloadable content is planned right now. No multiplayer either, since the team wanted to create the best single-player experience possible.
- Uncharted is using approximately 33% of the PS3's available power. We're about 76% sure that he's making up about 28% of that statistic, but we wouldn't be surprised if much better stuff gets squeezed from the PS3 in the future.
- The medals will likely turn into Home trophies when the time comes

I cant wait for the Trophy feature to arrive. Wonder if games like Resistance will give you trophies depending on how many Skill Points you got in the game.

Oh dear lord. That has to be utter bull shit.
The fact is, the cells are great at number crunching good for AI. Graphically the nVidia GPU in the PS3 isn't much more powerful than a 7800GTX.

Oh dear lord. That has to be utter bull shit.
It depends how you look at it as 'power' is something of a vacuous term. Graphically — as in texture and polygon wise — later PS3 games probably won't look that much better than Uncharted, but future titles might pack in a lot more advanced AI, interactive physics, and improved animation systems.
33% clearly isn't a scientific estimate, but I wouldn't say it's entirely inaccurate. The full potential of consoles is very rarely tapped, so theoretically Evan Wells might be bang on. Practically, though, you'll see a handful of developers — such as Naughty Dog and Insomniac — really outdoing themselves, and even then it's unlikely they'll wring every drop from the hardware.
