Revision time is here, so for thousands of kids around the UK it means one thing - spending half your time on your PC in a vain attempt to fend off boredom and doing any real work.
In this rut? Try this: www.pandora.com (Best viewed in IE).
This was recommended to me by Mike, admin of Woosel (www.woosel.com), and I've been giving it a whirl - some pretty good tunes have this eminated from my computer's speakers thus far.
Note: This wont help revision, might stave off the boredom though ;)

I fucking hate that magazine. I'm hesitant to let their website foul the waters of my beutiful computer....
on another note: Pandora seems cool but it just handed me some american highway rock. shit.

Ok Pandora just picked up. after a splash of 'thieves like us' from New Order (class!) it sent me a bit of a band called 'Vapours'. some kind of electro outfit. ace.
I typed in Talking Heads as my starting point.

Great site but as old as Jesus. Good of you to spread the word to those unintiated to the joys of Pandora though.
Pandora keeps trying to recommend Dinosaur Jr to me. It's obviously total shit.

I've been using this for a long time, it's pretty good.
People criticising it should realise its made mostly from other people's responses. If the majority of people who like your favourite band also like x, x is suggested to you. It's quite simple and usually works.
The site's pretty old though, hardly a revelation ;)

I put snow patrol in and it seems quite good so far.
so far I have tried The Mars Volta, and it's given me 4 mars volta tracks, 1 An Albatross track (NB - these guys are amazing, i saw them this weekend, and am going to see them again on monday, anyone in birmingham on monday should go!), 1 wolfmother track, and so far only one track from an artist I didn't already like, GoGoGo Airheart.
But, since i liked the track, pandora has suceeded. go pandora!

I've been using this for quite a while now and it's built up a big knowledge of what I like and don't like, so now it's very rare that I get a bad song.
Tried: "Angels and Airwaves" and "Angels & Airwaves"..
its neve heared of them. Stupid thing.

Yeah, Pandora's good but I find it exhausts itself too easily.
A site I go to for my share fair of music: http://www.epitonic.com/. I only listen to the Indie rock side of the radio, and I really recommend it.
