I suppose we can only wait 11 days until nothing is announced.

Doesn't make sense though tbh.

No way. Firstly they wouldn't dare release a sequel to the Dreamcast and name it Dreamcast 2.. it didn't exactly sell well you see. Plus Sega I don't think would have the money to support it... PLUS is there really room on the market for a 4th console... No there isn't

i never really played dreamcast but that would be pretty crazy to have a sequal to it after all these years

Unless "Dreamcast 2" is a codename for some "sega developed hardware for the Nintendo Wii" I don't see sega bringing out a proper sequel to the Dreamcast.

Dreamcast 2 could just be a codename like Revoltion.

Sega have suprisingly announced a sequel to their previous console, the Sega Dreamcast. The Sega Dreamcast 2 will launch with sequels to the highy appreciated RPGs on the original console, Shenmue III and Skies of Arcadia II

Thought about this last night and what would be really cool would be if Sega kept all Dreamcast specs yet shrunk it all down and made it into a handheld. That would be pretty cool.. but it's still highly unlikely

Is all this real? The whole IGN thing looked like a joke.Seems strange to release a second one when SEGA are making several games for the consoles.Maybe the whole NiGHTS rumour is for the DC2.Time will tell but i'm hesitating to believe it.

I personally think its a joke, just a blog by a non-believer.
I saw this yesterday because it was in the featured bar... Why would it be there though if it wernt serious?

Who would buy it? Sega have been out the spotlight for over 5 years.
It's not financially viable.

A handheld would be good, if it's cheap and has good games (maybe they could do a partnership with Nintendo) then I'd buy it. Probably not a main console though, can't exactly see it as cheap. Oh, and have you realised that those interviews are fake?

Who would buy it?
Me. I'd buy another Sega Console over a PS3 for sure.

I'd buy a Dreamcast 2 anyday.I'd get a Wii and a DC 2.I read a while ago there was going to be a new DC game released that would be out on the Cube aswell, could be that.

It's especially stupid considering all of their games are coming out on what would be rival systems. Not worth it, and I'm over the whole Sega console thing now anyway. I like Nintendo better.

The moment you can buy a Sonic game on ALL of the current systems (PS2, Xbox, GC, DS, GBA), you know that Sega are never coming back in the console race. There's miracles, then there's this.

They're sticking their big guns on the 360, PS3 and Wii. It would be suicide to launch a console where a lot of their franchises could be found on competing systems.

And to be honest, with all the hype surrounding the current 3 next gen consoles, Sega would be butchered if they were to release their follow up to the dreamcast out of the blue.

It's wishful thinking, and nothing more I say.

The Dreamcast was severely overrated. It had some cool games like Quake 3, Shenmue and Soul Calibur though.

None of those games come close to being as good as the likes of OOT, and Mario 64. They're good, but half of that list could have been bought on the PS1 ffs.

Yeah Chu Chu was cool. There was a way to play that game online for free using a special number which could only be used by using either an imported Q3 disk, or the US browser. Something like 08000853054 or something similar. Those were the days. :)

I'm not comparing it to N64 and no it couldn't have been bought on PS1, specially not with those graphics and controls.

Crazy Taxi, Shenmue 2, Skies of Arcadia, Street Fighter and Rayman 2 are some of the best games I've ever played...but this DC2 things a complete hoax, in fact, it's not even a Hoax, it's meant as comedy...

Will we see anything? Or was this Sega's April Fool joke that got lost in the post?

I bought my first ever Dreamcast yesterday and it ROCKS!!!

I bought Shenmue 2 and havent switched it off yet as im still waiting for my visual memory unit (and rumble pack) off ebay.;) What a beautiful game!! Also bought Space Channel 5, Shenmue 1 and Jet Set Radio. Im also going to buy Sega Bass Fishing and a dreamcast fishing rod.

Never played on a dreamcast before and its now my fav console ever, just after a few hours on shenmue 2. I've never played any of these games and im more excited about them than the Wii/360/PS3.

edited: was a bit excited!

PLEASE don't tell me you've started Shenmue II without playing through Shenmue I :hmm:
Sin.
Go back and start from the very beginning and that way you'll truly appreciate the story.

How could you possibly put shenmue II down after starting it! Is there any graphical difference or difference in the way the original starts from the second? I havent got far into the game, but I already feel connected with it..I'll follow your advice! Wii to be released on October 27th

If Sega released a console I would buy it alongside my Wii.
But I think if anything its more likely that Wii can run DC games like it can run GC games - but that seems hugely unlikely to me

Hellfire

I love the DC too, but what makes you think that is SEGA released another console it would be good? Like nintendork said, they've been out of the spotlight for so long that no one would support them and most of their games suck ass.

The blog revealed that it was lying. They wanted more hype over IGN Dreamcast for some reason and that Sega are not revealing anything.

I was hoping Sega would jump in at E3 and show a new console. That would've been the best e3 ever

Are Sega owned by Atari now? That's what a coolegue of mine told me..and it appears as if Sega arent publishing their own games anymore.
