I think it's going to happen from next month/end of this month, pretty sure it'll be dropped by mid-october, cos they wanna get in on the christmas rush like. Though one site I read said the drops were starting on MS's side tomorrow, might still take time to filter through to the shops though?

It doesn't have either. Vegas 2 has 4 player online co-op (as I understand, I don't have it). Vegas, which I have, only has 2p splitscreen, online's co-op is only 2, unless I've missed something.

If i remember correctly its 2 player co-op online or u can have more for a terrorist hunt, (However i could be wrong).

The 1st Vegas is 4 player co-op in story mode as me and 2 mates went through it. The 2nd Vegas is only 2 player co-op in story mode but 2-4 when playing T-Hunts.

Anyone know of any gems from early on in the 360's life cycle that I could probs get cheap like that now? Pretty much anything around a tenner that'll tide me over for a while until Fable arrives. I'm holding off of Gears of War cos I know the 2nd one is coming out soon, so I'll wait for a bit and see. I'm also contemplating a second pad though, dunno whether to go with wired or wireless. Is the extra £12 for a wireless pad worth it, and how long's the wire on a wired one?

Might wanna give Dead Rising a shot. It's very love or hate, though.

As for the second pad, I went with a wired one. You can use it on the PC without buying another peripheral, you can use it incase of battery shortage emergencies, and the wire is well longer than any other controller I've ever used. For my SNES/N64/PS1 I have to sit closer to the screen as the wire doesn't stretch as far back as my bed (where I usually sit), but with the wired it makes it and some.

The wire on a wired pad is pretty long. If it's too short then USB extenders are pretty cheap and easy to get hold of.

You should get gears, you wont regret it at all, and id say get condemned 1, can find it really cheap nowadays, and its better than the 2nd one

Cheers guys, someone recommended me Dead Rising, concept does sound rather tasty but I'm worried of going overboard and buying a ton of games then playing each just a tiny bit. I got another question though, one about Live. I'm probs get Gears in a week or two too, 360 has such a nice back catalogue, it's too much choice for me and I'm gonna end up spending loads! As for the pad, I'ma defo order a wired one now then, I hate batteries dying on me and never found wires all that restricting!

I just unboxed the box, and saw things saying about migrating Live accounts and keeping Gold Membership for duration of remainder etc etc, I only ever did like a month trial on my original xbox, however I once bought a headset/12month live pack cos it was going for £20(this was like 3/4 years ago before the 360 come out and I thought I mighta stuck with Live). However, it ended up literally sitting on my shelf gathering dust, it's part of my room furniture now and so it was never used. My question however, is the code inside valid for setting up a new Live account on 360, or can you start Live subs on the original xbox still, so I could pull something sneaky setting a Live account up on there then migrating?

Well that's the thing, did they make new codes for the 360 or invalidate any old Xbox Live codes(I could see them doing such a thing as a means to increase the cost of the service but stopping people using the already existing cheaper subs packs from the original xbox, if that was the case). I do indeed believe I have a headset(still not done all my unboxing, seems rather silly setting up the console without any games), comes as standard with the premium pack I believe.

I totally agree with Nintenchris, its sooooooo annoying to do. He sent me a message on Live about it and I had to LOL as my mate had sent me a text about it earlier in the morning. I was so happy when I finally brought the thing down, took me ages until I figured I could blast the Tie Fighters out of the sky with my force powers.

Im selling my 20GB xbox to my mum to give my little brother for xmas and buying myself a new 60gb one with HDMI. Good plan i thought. But how do i get all my saved data from old HDD to new one? Does it come with a transfer cable like the elite? or could i use one of those cables if i could get ahold of one?

Transfer cable... once you get the elite you phone up M$ and ask for one, they will ask for your console serial number so you give them the number of the elite and they will send you one free of charge. :smile:

My had a froozen 360, sent his console off, came back and was still broke. They said on the phone to send it again, but with the HDD. He quite nicely said no, said he was a customer, and they sent him a new HDD instead.

Yeah they ask that you don't send it with the HDD now anyway even if they "fix" it and it comes back non working, that happened to my brother recently, just got sent back again without the HDD and they sent him a free controller.

It's pointless sending the HDD anyway unless theres a proven problem with it because they tend to go missing before the console gets sent back to you.

should be another few days to a week and then I should have the two 360's that I sent off at moreorless the same time back (mine and my brothers) it had better be properly fixed this time too. >>

With the recent price reduction it looks like I have no excuses for not taking the plunge now.

Noticed Gamestation are doing the Premium with 2 games for £170. Was thinking of going with Lost Odyssey and Mass Effect , any likelihood of being disappointed with those games ?

Will have to pick up Madden '09 as well , of course.

I have my second Wii to use as a trade-in (or may sell it instead) but I still have some concerns over the reliability issues that have plagued the 360.

Are they still as bad or has this been addressed recently ?

i thought lost odyssey was a bit weak sauce. but then I'm not big on JRPGs and when the game's promising start gave way to genre cliché I was pissed.

Mass Effect may well be one of the best games this gen, mind. It rules.

I just can't do it....I'm at the end bit of the battle where they are all clustered around the central area of the map. I've tried at least 10 times.

Its really pissed me off and marred such a beautiful Half Life experience for me. Will try and do it tomorrow.

I really enjoyed LO I'd have to say, and so did my friend. If you like JRPGs you will probably like this, and you can tell some work has been put into it (unlike Infinite Undiscovery).

Are you trying to do the achievement? Use a guide, its piss compared to trying it yourself. Not that I use guides.....

In my experiance, any HL2 combat-based problems can be solved with liberal use of SMG grenades, followed by the alternate fire on the shotgun.

My aim with those bombs is woeful. Doesn't help with the bloody hunters doing everything they can to destroy them as soon as you pick one up.

I'll let you know if I manage to do it....sigh.

Tip: Run over the hunters. Once you've done that, go after the striders. They are much slower.

Alternatively, lower the difficulty to easy within options.

yeah, because Nintendo is known for their complete lack of respect towards their userbase. I mean, Wiis are getting red disc slots of light all the time. Oh wait...

I'm actually looking forward to the update, at the very least I'm curious. Haven't been playing much lately, trying to set a good pace for the rest of the year, so I can study :P I did finish DMC4 the other day and rather enjoyed it, specially because it seems that it can be enjoyed even more after finishing. Not that I'm the kind of guy to master it and finish it in super ultra mega hard mode, but still, it's well packed.

From the looks of it the Halo MMO was only a concept. It could be that Ensemble created the images, pitched the concept to Microsoft and had it turned down (like Halo DS).

Yup, the only assets for the game are a few concept arts, and some mock-up conceptual images as you said.

It's pretty sad how Ensemble came to disband and close. I find it hard to undertand why they "couldn't fit into their plans for the future of MGS".

Been playing through Rainbow six vegas as I got it pre owned recently, and I hate it. The gameplay aint bad but I have major problems with the AI and the fact that some checkpoints are ridiculously far apart. That really annoys me. Don't think I'll bother with it tbh. Just frsutrates me.

Will start playing FEAR me thinks. Loved it on PC so it should be good on the 360!

According to the marketplace it's a campaign expansion. I hope it has a lot of vehicle sections.

Facts known so far:
1, Its set before Halo 2 in New Mombasa (the trailer mentions New Mombasa and the great tower is still standing, which had fallen down by the time the Chief got there.)
2, Those things falling to Earth are ODSTs (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers), they work in squads of four and are elite tactical Marine humans.
3, 1117 is mentioned a lot during the trailer (17th Nov release date?).
4, The marketplace says its a new "campaign experience".
5, Seeing as the Halo 3 engine has 3rd person support (i.e. when you grab a turret) its possible for this game to be third person. So the rumours regarding a squad based tactical third person shooter game is pretty high on the cards.

Facts known so far:
1, Its set before Halo 2 in New Mombasa (the trailer mentions New Mombasa and the great tower is still standing, which had fallen down by the time the Chief got there.)
2, Those things falling to Earth are ODSTs (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers), they work in squads of four and are elite tactical Marine humans.
3, 1117 is mentioned a lot during the trailer (17th Nov release date?).
4, The marketplace says its a new "campaign experience".
5, Seeing as the Halo 3 engine has 3rd person support (i.e. when you grab a turret) its possible for this game to be third person. So the rumours regarding a squad based tactical third person shooter game is pretty high on the cards.

Sigh. Theres no doubt about it, your not going to be Master Chief, perhaps another Spartan but most likely an ODST.

Oh and the release date is rumoured to be the 9th of January 09.

I like it as well. As many people aren't I'm not a fan of that massive load of grey at the bottom of the screen on some of the themes. Everything else is looking good though. Not really a massive fan of the avatars, they might be fun to mess around with, but I'm not sure it's a better way of browsing a friends list than the current system is.

finished three stages so far and I find this game to be awesome. The graphics are excellent, the draw distances are amazing! The tracks are pretty stunning..

Controls are nice, sense of speed is good and Difficulty is okay so far. Its Arcade racing at its best..

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the transfer cable transfers everything and lets you still use the gamertags as well as all XBLA with any gamertag on the console.

You gotta make sure you get the transfer cable though. I heard you can get them from MS but they ask for both console serial numbers. If your buying off ebay make sure they give you the transfer cable also. I know when you buy 120GB from shops they give you this. 60GB are not in shops so you could get a problem.

If all you wanted is ur gamertag then u wont need a transfer cable. Just sign in on another console and enter ur password. It remembers all ur achievments etc. Your gamertag data is not only stored on ur hardrive but on the Microsoft servers also.

You could buy a memory card and load your gamertag and saves onto that. £8 in CEX, I got one so I could get my Xbox replaced with no worries about saves and stuff. It's also really useful if you want to use you profile on someone else's console.

A lot of them didn't.

It was just a matter of killing them all before moving on, killing a load then safely moving forwards a bit, or avoiding certain areas completely.


The last level (not the Plane one) is really easy :)
I had to do 2 levels on Hard rather than Veteran cos I just couldn't manage. No Fighting in the Warroom is especially frustrating because you've already done 2 of the levels to get the achievement, one of which is quite long.

The theme is instead blood, as it's been announced that the "limited edition" red controller is out right now (in North America, it's not out in Australia until November). Which is, yes, just before Gears of War 2 is released. Microsoft Game Studios head Phil Spencer told Edge on Wednesday that the firm has added a "group of industry heavy hitters" to its lineup, including former Kojima Productions assistant producer Ryan Payton, confirming recent rumors.

Payton was assistant producer on the recently-released Metal Gear Solid 4, playing a role in injecting Western design elements into the decidedly Japanese series. He also aided in the actual design of Metal Gear Online and Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops.

To gamers, he's best known as a Western liaison for Tokyo, Japan-based Konami subsidiary Kojima Productions, the studio behind Metal Gear.

Payton left Kojima Productions for Washington State due to family-related issues earlier this year.

Payton is rumored to be directing a new Halo project, although a Microsoft rep would not confirm that information.

The rep only stated, "The team is working on upcoming and existing Halo games."

Also confirmed to be joining MGS is programming ace Corrine Yu, formerly of Gearbox Software, and her husband, artist Kenneth Scott of Doom house id Software.

Microsoft also confirmed that David Wu, former tech director at Full Auto developer Pseudo Interactive, and ex-Bungie content manager Frank O'Connor are also on Microsoft's Halo team.

Spencer said in a statement, "Microsoft Game Studios is thrilled to have such talented people working to develop new and exciting projects within the Halo universe and supporting existing projects from studios like Bungie and Ensemble."

Ensemble is currently developing Halo Wars, which will be the studio's final game before Microsoft shutters the developer.

The confirmation of the hirings comes days before the Tokyo Game Show, where, according to the Microsoft rep, Halo house Bungie will be making a major announcement regarding the recently-released Halo teaser video.

Yeah but assuming he wants to trasfer everything then it's better that his friend gets the transfer kit first, as it's free from M$ anyway plus it will copy across all those files that it doesn't let you move from a hard drive using any other method; I believe games such as Rock Band and Gears don't allow you to move certain save files, so for stuff like that the transfer kit is well worth it, but yeah if it's just one or two arcade games then sod it, don't bother with it. :heh:

The producer of Capcom's Resident Evil 5 has revealed the 'internal conflicts' warring between team members, and how tumultuous development been over the last year.

Speaking in an interview with Xbox World 360, Resi 5 man Masachika Kawata described development on the game as "like wartime", but he says the developers are still working together.

"The team has been having quite a lot of arguments, but at the end of the day the team is working towards one goal - to make a great game," he said.


"[Director Takeuchi] is very hard working and he makes the team work very hard as well. He gets into big arguments with everyone; Resident Evil 5's development is like wartime, but he's got incredible leadership.

"A designer comes up with sketches but they don't always work on the screen; we have to modify it, make changes and we go through this process all the time. The artists and programmers are doing their best, so when their work is rejected by the director it can be quite heartbreaking."

Kawata also revealed that the team "do feel" Resi creator Shinji Mikami's absence, "but he's left and such is life," he said.

"We have a lot of people among our team who worked on Resident Evil 4 with Mr. Mikami, and Mr. Takeuchi worked on Resident Evil (GameCube remake) and he's a truly incredibly individual as well.

"We're under a lot of pressure to live up to expectations, but we've done what we wanted to do."

Xbox360 beating sony consoles the 2nd week

Good stuff for MS Japan. They have tried really hard to be a success and they are finally getting somewhere even though it is a small win.

If Japanese developers would of backed 360 from the start we could of seen seeing something really different in Japan right now. 360 could of been doing 20k-30k per week.

Argh! I went to HMV yoday to try and get my Xbox replaced, but because the power button on the face plate is messed up ( I took off the face plate one time, and pressed the power button, so it got stretched slightly, and now it can't be used; you can still turn it on, by pressing eject) they say that the Xbox could've been treated roughly (which it hasn't been) so they wont offer a replacement!

They also tried to put the blame on the component cable and said that they were very fragile, even though I'd always used an HDMI cable. They seem pretty desperate not to replace stuff. Now the manager says he'll try and diagnose the problem and he'll get back to us on Wedenesday.

My problem was that it wouldn't recognise a controller when it was plugged in to the console, he said that it was probably due to the "mishandling" of the controller ports, even though I tried using a wireless controller as well as a wired one. Also, sometimes when I turn it on it has pink vertical lines appearing up and down the screen, although that usually goes away after a while.

I wish I was beetter at sticking up for myself.

Xbox 360 outsold Sony's PlayStation 3 in Japan in September, beating the rival machine in monthly unit sales for the first time in Sony's home
market, a game magazine publisher said.

Strong sales growth came after Microsoft cut prices for its game console last month.

Microsoft sold 53,547 units of the Xbox 360 in the four weeks to Sept. 28, compared with 33,071 units of the PS3, data from Enterbrain showed on Friday.

Nintendo safely maintained its leading position in the Japanese console market, having sold 109,548 units of the Wii during the month.

Although popular in the United States, the Xbox 360 has been struggling to compete with the PS3 and the Wii in Japan, home to both Sony and Nintendo.

In a bid to lift sales, Microsoft on Sept. 11 cut the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade, which comes without a hard disk drive, by 8,000 yen ($76) to 19,800 yen.

It also lowered the price of the high-end Elite model by 8,000 yen to 39,800 yen.

Sony sells the PS3 with a 40-gigabyte hard disk drive for 39,980 yen, while Nintendo offers the Wii for 25,000 yen.

The Microsoft console also got a boost from Square Enix Holdings' popular role-playing game, "Infinite Undiscovery", launched in Japan on Sept. 11.

In the handheld video game market, Nintendo sold 234,477 units of its DS, compared with 109,274 units of Sony's PlayStation Portable.

Sales of the PSP seem to have slowed ahead of the planned launch on Oct. 16 in Japan of a new model of the portable machine, Enterbrain said.

The new PSP-3000 will come with a built-in microphone and advanced LCD panel that is better suited for use outdoors and offers a shorter response time than the existing machine.

Nintendo will launch a new DS on Nov. 1 that can take pictures and play music, potentially encroaching into the territory of Apple's iPod and iPhone.

It doesn't matter a huge amount, signal loss on digital cables is pretty low. A £50 cable will be better than a £5 one, but not to the same extent it was on component etc.

It's the price of cables that motivated me to upgrade my 360 to a 60GB HDMI model, i could upgrade and buy a decent 5m HDMI cable for the same price as the Component cables i'd have needed to hook everything up to my projector (coming next week).

Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 outsold Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 for the fourth consecutive week in the latest video game sales data from Japan.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 8,271 units between Sept. 29 and Oct. 5.

By comparison, the PS3 sold 7,232 units in the same period.

The 360 ranked two titles in the top 50 game sales, including Raiden IV at No. 38 and Tales of Vesperia at No. 46.

Microsoft this week said it will raise its sales forecast for the Xbox 360 in Japan on stronger-than-expected demand for the hardware.

Xbox 360 sales in Japan were bolstered after a price cut enacted on Sept. 1, which discounted the hardware to as low as 19,800 yen ($189).

One of GTA IV’s biggest strengths – and possibly one of its biggest problems – was its insistence on keeping the action as realistic as possible. No longer could you stand on top of moving cars and terrify the drivers; you’d lose your balance and fall off the second they started moving. SR2 defiantly rubs GTA’s nose in this by not only enabling players to stand on top of moving cars, but by turning it into a traffic-surfing minigame.

It’s also worth noting that, like every other activity in the game, you can do this naked

Although Saints Row 2 takes most things in a radically different direction than GTA IV, there is one little thing it could be accused of copying, albeit wrongly: giving players a cell phone to dial numbers, punch in cheats or call up “Homies” to come watch your back.



The difference is that Saints Row 2’s cell phone (which actually debuted in the first Saints Row) is barely integrated into the gameplay at all; you won’t use it to fool your targets into revealing themselves in public, for example, and none of your imaginary friends will ever use it to invite you out for a drink. Again, whether that’s good or bad depends on how much Niko’s ever-buzzing phone irritated you in GTA IV.



One of the saddest things we saw during the run-up to GTA IV was all the misinformed saps who thought that “multiplayer” meant they could plug in a second controller and play through the story with a friend. And while you can’t do that in Saints Row 2, exactly, you can play through the entire story online with a buddy, and that’s always a plus.

Over the course of GTA IV’s rags-to-slightly better rags story, players earned hundreds of thousands of dollars, almost all of which were spent on guns, body armor and ammunition for Niko. You could buy clothing and food, too, but in general the money didn’t do much aside from enabling you to pay for dates and survive a little longer in a firefight. You couldn't even spend money on property, like you did in earlier games; instead, it was all handed to you, for free, as part of the story.

In contrast, there’s no shortage of things to spend money on in Saints Row 2. Instead of simply moving between a series of small apartments, you can buy 11 “cribs” scattered throughout the city, and then spend more money to upgrade them with new décor, better furniture and gigantic televisions.

High-performance cars are also for sale if you know where to look, and dropping more cash will turn them into garish purple monstrosities with spinning rims and spikes that shoot out from the wheels. Also, while GTA tried to keep playing dress-up to a minimum, Saints Row 2 enables you to buy layers of ridiculous clothing, jewelry and tattoos and mix them together however you like.



Grand Theft Auto IV caught some flak over its watchable in-game TVs, which were a nice touch but featured shows that weren’t quite up to the series’ high standards. SR2 doesn’t even bother with trying to create its own channels, and the TVs in your apartments are useful only for two things: re-watching cutscenes (which is kind of fun, because any changes you’ve made to your character since the events happened will show up in the cinema) and playing a videogame called Zombie Uprising.

Zombie Uprising plays like a crude imitation of Dead Rising, in that your task is to fend off endless waves of zombies using your fists and whatever else is scattered around. It’s usually only fun for five minutes at a stretch, but the amount of detail that went into making the shambling, bloated zombies almost makes us sad that they didn’t suddenly surface to menace the city in the final act of the game’s story. Also, they’re really fun to carve up with a chainsaw.



What? “Eclectic music picked out by people with excellent taste?” What the hell does that mean? All we know is that among Saints Row 2’s thrash-metal and hip-hop radio stations is one that plays “The Final Countdown” and “Take on Me” seemingly every five minutes. And if you can’t enjoy that on some level, then we have nothing more to discuss.

Oh I'm not even gonna try and play both at once. My original plan was Fable 2, then after a couple of weeks whenever I am done with it I'll get Fallout. But now you've added Far Cry into the mix. Gonna have to fit that in somewhere.

Ive been playing the CoD:WaW beta today and its taking me a while to get used to it due to me playing Halo 3 all last week. On Halo im used to running and gunning and still being able to finish the fight but with CoD im getting killed in a few shots, respawning and then getting killed again :). Its nice to see the ranking/perks system make a return though.

Both for me :) Far Cry 2 on PC rather than PC, swear i saw it somewhere on the net for £18! I'll trade games in to get Fable. Think i'll be skipping on Fallout 3 for a while, i'm really hyped for it but my sensible head says £15 or £20 in the January sales :p

I preordered CoD from GAMEs website. They send out the beta codes every Friday if you preorder with them. Eurogamer has some beta codes starting next week so keep an eye on there aswell.

The call of duty world at war beta is pretty damn awesome !!
Nice to see they haven't strayed too far from the CoD4 multiplayer because that is pure perfection!
Only one thing let's it down and that's the maps.. I personaly don't enjoy 2 of the 3 in the beta.. But I'm sure there will be better ones in the full game.

Yay, HMV replaced my 360. 40 extra gigabytes, which is nice.
I guess I could install loads of games on my hard drive when NXE (god, I hate that name) comes out.

Speaking of the "NXE" (...) I can't believe I missed the fact that it has a date! November 19 eh?, personally I think it looks awesome :D Looking forward to it. Hopefully my 360 won't be off in Germany somewhere getting fixed on the release date....

Methinks my 360 is dying :( Im getting weird graphical glitches on the dashboard and in games, kinda looks like the weird writing off the Matrix.

EDIT: Yup its died. I knew if I turned it off and then back on it wouldnt work. To top if off its only got 1 red light in the bottom right so that means I have to pay to get it fixed, right? Im gonna faff on with it and see if I can get it working, if not then I guess I will have to phone Microsoft :( I hope I get to talk with someone who speaks english!

I got one red light. I never phoned anyone or paid anything, I just went through the online process for xbox repair, saying its broken/showing red lights/won't start and returned it for free. 11 day turnaround. From what people have been saying, I'll probably be doing that again within the next few days (got 3 red lights recently)

Thanks Shorty but I had already phoned them up. For once I got an english lass on the phone, must have been her first day or something as she sounded nervous, cost me £59 to get it fixed though. To be fair I would rather it broke now then when the likes of Gears and Banjo have arrived. Im just hoping I get it back in time for Fable 2.

i read somewhere else that gamestaion only do that if it breaks within 28 days? if thats true then im inside of the 28 days
