Been watching the Mass effect vids again. I think I may have to deny myself it's glories until at least the New Year though. Money isn't tight as per say, but I'd still like to suckle most of what I can out of my recently acquired selection first.

I have decided to buy Assasin's Creed and Mario Galaxy, rent Simpsons and Naruto and get Mass Erect and Metroid at Christmas or whenever I will have the time to enjoy them properly at a slow pace.

As for CoD4 I'm not sure where it fits in my equation, somewhere between Nov 16th and Christmas when I get bored I guess.

I saw Sega Rally for £27.95 at the weekend so was wondering what any of you guys think of it? I loved the first two on Saturn & Dreamcast so is it like the old days or is it totally different? Really tempted to buy it so any thoughts/opinions would be great!:)

It plays different. SEGA rally revo is not developed by the guys who made Sega Rally on Saturn and Dreamcast. Revo is a good game although I think the cars should handle tighter.

Probably worth getting if you need an arcade driving fix.

Yrah that was good. I played most of it co-op with my friend so i didnt have to live through going back and forth. It was the best simpsons game I have ever played, but if it wasnt a simpsons game i dont think anyone would have put up with the boring gameplay and poor camera.

Something similar happened to me couple of days ago - walked in to find three red lights blinking away. Mercifully the ethernet cable had merely become unplugged while downloading a demo. Phew.

I am getting one of the following on Launch and the other on Christmas Day. Which on which day I do not yet know.

Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect. While Mass Effect looks far better that Assassin's Creed, even with ACs obvious quality, I feel that ME will be better enjoyed over Christmas when I have the time to savour it and that AC would be more accessible in short bursts when I have the time.

1. Lot #0734 (Halo 3) or later (all SKUs)
2. Manufactured on or after 8/24/07(An HDMI Premium manufactured on 8/19 has been reported as 65nm.)
3. Team FDOU (Other teams may be Falcon as well, but none have been reported)

The Fall Xbox 360 dashboard update has been revealed to our colleagues at OXM from Microsoft and it's looking very good indeed with gaming classics and films on demand.

December 4 is the date you'll need to watch out for; that's the day you'll be able to download and play Halo. Yes, Halo as in the Xbox game, through Marketplace, on your Xbox 360.

Microsoft is introducing games it has published for the original Xbox on XBL Marketplace, with the eventual plan to bring as much of the back catalogue across as possible.

Games cost about 1200 Microsoft points (about ten quid), which according to us puts them a little over what you'd pay for them second hand.

The initial list of downloads includes Halo, Fable, Fahrenheit, Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex and Burnout 3. All good then, apart from maybe Crash.

And if that wasn't enough, films on demand, though not confirmed for the December 4 date, aren't far away. Studios such as Warner Bros are potentially lined up for the service, so we can look forward to films such as The Dark Knight, The Assassination of Jesse James and I Am Legend appearing eventually.

Films will cost less than a fiver and come in 720p resolution. You have 14 days to start watching a film once it has downloaded. Once you started watching a film, you have 24 hours to finish it. After that, the film deletes itself from your hard drive. It's basically an online rental service then, like the US Video Marketplace.

What do these new additions mean for the future of Xbox Live Arcade? Does the PS3's PSOne download service now look horribly dated? It's going to be an exciting 2008 in the download space, for sure.

In my experience, if a story is posted then removed, it's true but they don't want to announce anything yet. If a story is posted and it's not true, microsoft release a statement that it's not true and the story is kept up with an update stating that it's not true.
Could be different this time but it sounds like something they'd do to be honest.

I find GameRankings overall to be a good thing to go buy, but for individual reviews IGN ftw. Gamespots opinions and reviews I respect but I find that the number they actually award doesnt link up with the review often. (Same can be said for IGN TV Reviews) but I digress.

Good point, but I'm on my second 360 because of other faults, plus, this second 360 freezes a little, and the disk draw won't always come out. So I'd def still recommend the extended warranty. I'm going to be taking this back after the new year, and get it changed for a new 1 with hdmi.

i think the guys at thq making SVR08 have been alsleep for the past year while making it. Theres only a few changes, less people and the "24/7" mode is pretty shite.

Well, after a day of playing, some quick impressions.

The Console Itself - A bit smaller than I thought it was, looks rather nice. The dashboard is lovely, too (minus the few ads). My Phone connects to it via USB so I can play all the music from that in the games, and there's plenty of demos and XBLA games.

Project Gotham Raving 4 - I currently suck at the game, but multiplayer (I've only played split-screen) is a lot of fun. There's a great selection of cars/bikes, too.

Forza Motorsport 2 - Easier to get into than PGR4, so I'm mainly working through this racing game's singleplayer, and keeping PPGR4 for multiplayer for now.

I've got and had a quick go of Streets of Rage 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and they seem to be fantastic ports (Much better than the Virtual Console versions). I've tried a few XBLA demos, and they seem quite fun.

I'm getting Assassin's Creed in the post on Saturday/Monday, and one of my housemates is getting Halo 3 and (possibly) Gears of War soon.

Well, after a day of playing, some quick impressions.

The Console Itself - A bit smaller than I thought it was, looks rather nice. The dashboard is lovely, too (minus the few ads). My Phone connects to it via USB so I can play all the music from that in the games, and there's plenty of demos and XBLA games.

i think the guys at thq making SVR08 have been alsleep for the past year while making it. Theres only a few changes, less people and the "24/7" mode is pretty shite.
Wish they would actually stop and think about changing it from ground up instead of there "o its a WWE game all the fans will buy it" attitude.

I have found every Smackdown game to be average due to the dumb A.I. Wrestle Kingdom I and II were really poor also. SVR needs a new engine, it is still using alot of the animations from the PS2 games.

Thats the 1st Lego game not the one im on about, but yeah those achivements on that were annoying, especially the dont die ones. I remember I was struggling with the Death Star level and I had just blew the reactor and was on my way out when my 360 froze, I was well gutted. I went back some time later and finished it off though :)

I'm thinking of getting an Xbox 360 elite next year for myself, mainly for Resi 5 and xbox exclusives Halo, PGR etc. I'm in no rush to get one as at the moment there's lots of games on the wii to keep me busy such as mp3, galaxy, umbrella chronicles.
I would appreciate some advice as i'm thinking of getting an xbox arcade for xmas for the kids bedroom and i would like to know if the arcade games that come with it are either on the memory card, are downloaded to memory card as theres no hard drive or do you have to be online to play them as you only get 1 months free subscription to xbox live ? And has it got slower load times due to it not having a hard drive ?

Xbox Live Arcade's arcade games come on a CD and are non transferable.

The memory card is capable of storing quite a few games (its 256mb) as well as game saves etc. The HDD on the 360 is rarely ever used by games, so no it will not effect loading times.

Regarding XBOX Live:
You do get 1 month free Gold. Once this runs out you can either:
1, continue to pay for XBL Gold
2, Go on XBOX Live Silver. This gives you all the same features as gold, just no online play.

Hah, jsut got a big relief. I had to set my 360 to connect to live through the router i'm using (because the BT Modem from before isn't compat with Vista), so i'm worreied thinking "shit this is gonna take the piss". I plugged it in, set IP to automatic, and it worked straight away.

Better than using that ICS bollocks.

Do you mean the BT Homehub? Cos mine works fine with Vista

It's not the homehub no, old USB Modem.

EDIT: While i was at it, i set up file sharing to my 360, because it doesn't work through ICS, but works now i'm all wired up to a router.
Damn this router's been helpful.

I finished Gears of War earlier.

The gameplay is great, it looks great and Co-op is done fantastically. I then beat what I assumed was something like a mid-game boss.

Then the credits rolled...

We should play some Gears online again sometime, those nights playing Gears were easily the most fun I've had on Xbox Live.

I've only played it in co-op. For some reason he didn't mind the other player standing right behind him with a shotgun and repeatedly shooting him.

What's the general consensus on Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata and Lost Planet?

I'm starting to write my January sales must have list and wanna know which of the three are the most decent. I'm doing a list not because i'm a big fat geek who cums at the sight of a 7 page excel spreadsheet filled with graphs. charts and statistics, nooooooo, i'm doing it because it'll stop me buying them before christmas! Cheeeeers

Does the 360 have any good arcady racing games other than Burnout Revenge? Or should I get Burnout and just put up with the stupid thing where hitting traffic on your side of the road sends them flying?

just wondering if any1 can help me. Lately my xbox has seemed a bit funny, the time on it never keeps at all, it always resets to 12 whenever i turn it back on it, and on top of that its not registering my wireless network adapter at all (the light is orange on the adapter instead of green and everytime i test the settings it says its disconnected) Has any1 got any tips that could help me out?

Both good games if you have the time to sit down with them and give them good poper thorough play throughs.
Blue Dragon's demo does not do the game justice. The demo throws you in to a storyline and hardly tells you anything about how to battle and what everything means. It put me off the game but I still got it and lovd the game, I just stopped playing it because of the time I had. Got home late, then everyone just sends invites to play online so there's no time to play.
Eternal Sonata's demo was what made me really want to game. Battle system is great, sod the story. So's the visuals. This one's shorter than BD, 7 chapters, I'm on about 5 and only played the game first by short bursts, then a few nights bfore COD4 quite a while. You have to play through it again to get some of the achievements though.
Both good games.

Personally, I say go ahead. Tons and tons of titles on 360. Wii has had a good time recently with Mario Galaxy and Guitar Hero. But what else is coming?
Resi Evil, some more games which I don't think warrant a £40 price tag. Smash Bros is the only game now that's making me hold onto my Wii.
360 titles aren't all just shooters, there's some good rpgs and other genres that just get overlooked.

Got a message on XBL saying some new update is coming early Dec which will change something to do with friends (allow you to view others' friends lists I think?) - could this be the year's last big dashboard update? I'm really wanting the fabled DivX addition.
