Pre-orders for Xbox 360 to begin DECEMBER 8TH 2006

Sydney, 1 December 2005 – Participating leading retailers will officially begin taking Australian pre-orders for the Xbox 360 from December 8, it was announced today.

The program will allow customers to be among the first in Australia to own an Xbox 360, subject to availability at participating retailers. The Xbox 360 sold out on its US debut day last week and similar enthusiasm for the next-generation console is expected when it is released at one minute past midnight on March 2, 2006 in Australia.

Pre-orders for Xbox 360 (RRP*$649.95) will be taken at leading participating Australian retailers.

David McLean, Regional Director, Xbox Australia said he was excited that both retailers and consumers are putting the Xbox 360 at the top of their wish list. “We will be working closely with our retail partners during the pre-order program to best meet the anticipated high Australian demand,� McLean said.

Customers who pre-order the Xbox 360 will also be able to purchase the VIP Premiere Pack from leading participating Australian retailers – which includes discounted accessoriesâ€* and leading launch title Perfect Dark Zero. The VIP Premiere Pack has a recommended retail price of $149.95* and includes:

- Leading launch title Perfect Dark Zero (RRP*$99.95)

- Additional wireless controller (RRP*$79.95)

- Limited edition faceplate (RRP*$29.95)

- Preview DVD featuring video of upcoming titles, recent Xbox 360 events and interviews with executives

My Gamestation has had enough! lol. The games are selling out and it's only 5 minutes to 9!

Kids are coming out in tears because they haven't got any left, it's terrible.

They are actually getting like 4 games for each title, i'm very surprised to hear Quake 4 has sold out! King Kong hasn't even arrived yet! So to the people who care, if you want games get to your local Gamestation or whatever quickly it seems the games are in very short supply as well!

I hope City Link take care of my 360! :D

Went into GAME this morning at 8.00am (without a pre-order) and managed to get myself;

- CORE pack
- Perfect Dark Zero; Limited Edition
- PGR3
- King Kong

The whole of town was sold out by 9.00am (apart from pre-orders)!!

GAME were also selling the console with 8 games for £620!! and people were buying them instantly!! That's alot of money to spend just like that!!

I played Project Gotham 3 at Gamestation the other day - it's exactly the same as the last one (even graphically mostly bar the HD tv support), PDZ is pretty generic and simplistic when you get over the visuals and Kameo is pretty much the only standout title on the console.

I bought a PS2 and Disgaea instead and saved me a load of cash for a better game experience, it's bloody brilliant even with the sucky graphics. When you get over the reflection mapping and junk you'll realise the 360 is just an Xbox 1.5 - I'll Just stick with Halo 2 Xbox Live, none of those launch games come close.

im really really pissed off, i preordered a 360 in october, not ages ago, but i hoped that it was going to be plenty of time to get a console on launch day, but you guessed it, i couldnt get one :( not even a core system as all of those had already been preordered. it looks like a long wait until im going to be able to get a hold of one so im very upset and its my 18th birthday tomorrow, so someone should take pity on me and give me their premium pack or at least sell it to me :)

The bit where it crashed three times was probably the thing which put me off the most.

I've only played Kameo, PDZ, Amped 3 and NFSMW today! I'm now pleased Gameplay didn't send them all to me because i wouldn't get through them! :laughing:

I'm loving every game so far, the actual console dashboard itself is fantastic as well!

I'm pleased i'm still excited and haven't had that anti-climax feeling yet, thankfully i have more new games to play tomorrow as well so it will be a Xbox360 weekend! :smile:

Concerning Perfect Dark:

Also, did anyone find that you CANNOT use vehicles in deathmatch multiplayer mode? Only in dark-ops which only works if you have more then 1 human player or go on the net?

Does anyone know if you have to unlock the use of vehicles in deathmatch mode with bots and humans or you cannot use vehicles at all, i really wanted to ride a jetpack?! :smile:

Oh and touch-wood not one game as froze on me yet, none of my discs have scratched and my power brick doesn't feel that hot at all! I also haven't got a clue what people on going on about with Quake 4 either, theres no slowdown or anything yet (although i've been playing for around 15 mins, perhaps later levels get worse).

My theory the whole Xbox360 breaking thing was getting out of hand, of course mine could break today but thats the gamble!

I had a terrible time when i turned it on the first time, i didn't put the AV cable in properly and all the lights were falshing red etc.. I thought it had broke! :laughing:

Mine's the 23" one, I payed £500 for it, so that works out at about €740. It is a great TV though.

IM SORRY FOR WHINING ABOUT all my games not turning up, it was very ungrateful of me, considering some on here haven't even got the console. So the people who took offense I apologise, it just annoyed me that they took £160 from my mums debit card without sending anything out and not letting us know.

Ok i give a little comment on the games i have played so far!

Kameo: I didn't like the way your thrown into everything almost immediately when you start the game, i kinda needed a little help to understand what i was doing, but saying that i soon got the hang of it, but thats my only gripe with this game. The graphics are wonderful so far and it feels like Zelda which is a good thing, espicially Majoras Mask! It certainly has a 'Nintendo' feel.

Perfect Dark Zero: Superb, the first level was amazing, the way it all built up to a massive gun battle, it started slowy (thankfully) and the first level made sense. The graphics look wonderful in places but i reckon they get even better futher on! It also feels like a Perfect Dark game which is good! The Multiplayer with bots is complete mayhem, and i mean 'mayhem'. I actually thought the graphics in multiplayer were better then the single player, but it could of been the level i was using!

Amped 3: The surprise game for me! Not a HUGE leap from Amped 1 and 2, the graphics are much better in places though. I like the fact it's easier to control your character and perform tricks. Not that next-gen but i really like it, so i'm pleased i took the gamble and bought it!

Need For Speed: Most Wanted: Cannot really comment on this as i've only played the first level, it's graphics are SUPERB though, sadly i don't know what it looks like on Xbox to see if theres any difference. The handling of the cars feels pretty heavy, but it works! EXTREMELY FAST! Not quite as good as Burnout though, i reckon.

Quake 4: Again i have only completed the first little section of this game but i can say this, SUPERB graphics (again) and very very violent. I prefer the fact it's much quicker and more gun battle orientated then Doom 3, which is very similar. EXTREMELY dissapointed that theres no split-screen CO-OP or Multiplayer, although you do get the whole of Quake 2 free and that is CO-OP and Multiplayer, the graphics are really quite bad of course, but you can't fault the gameplay.

Project Gotham Racing 3: WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW :love: You know, i hated the others but this is something else, you have to see it running to believe the hype! Only on my first race, thank-god, i never ever want this to end!

Thats it i cannot comment on the other games i have got because i haven't played them yet (because my nan is ill and i haven't had alot of time to play them which is upsetting). but i can say, so far i'm extremely happy with every game i have played. A little worried about Tony Hawks though...perhaps i should of bought that for the CUBE or something as the graphics aren't that much different.....

Buy a long network cable.

This works a treat if you have a USB modem, it does not work very well if at all with AOL, so keep that in mind when you're failing.


I connect using a crossover cable (same kind that comes in the premium pack), also known as an ethernet and network cable. Available virtually everywhere you can buy PC's for low prices, but around £10 is the norm.

If you have an ethernet port in the back of your PC, you can run this cable from that to your Xbox/Xbox 360 and use Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XP to enable Xbox Live to access your connection. If not, you'll need to get an ethernet port by putting in a network card (very cheap, also available at most PC stores).

To enable Internet Connection Sharing, you need to go Start, Control Panel, Network connections. Find your Internet connection in there and right click it (might be best to make sure you're disconnected first), go to the Advanced tab and then click the "allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection". You may need to select a network card/ethernet adapter. Select the one you have the Xbox connected to if it gives you an option.

Your console should now be alright to connect to the Internet if you've done this correctly, if not... then you'll need to do something different to me which I'm sure someone else can help you with.

If you watch www.gametrailers.com video review of Perfect Dark Zero, they say the only bad thing about the multiplayer is that there are only 6 maps (at the moment), and that Rare haven't put into 'Zero' any next-gen versions of the Goldeneye or Perfect Dark multiplayer maps (like they put Goldeneye maps in Perfect Dark)!

I GENERALLY CANNOT play Condemned. It's by far one of the scariest games ever and i know that but playing it about 15 mins, it's going to be sick as well, it's too realistic for it's own good!

I played COD2 today, it was quite fun but the pad doesn't work so well with FPS's. The graphics sucked too; so much jaggies (even worse that PS2) no texture filtering and slowdown. I was playing on a HDTV and it still didn't look next generation, COD2 apparently uses all 3 proccesor cores too - I though Xbox360 was more powerful that this. ::shrug:

I agree Haver. I ordered my christmas present (new iPod) back in October, though Coo my situation is different where I didn't pay for it, I still really want to use it. I got to test it before putting it away (my parents usually do that with electrical products to advoid disappointment), it hasn't once crossed my mind of sneaking into my parents room and taking it.

What I find even worse is that you've set up Live and everything. I don't think I'd have the courage to take it that far.

This is the only game I have at the moment (Elder Scrolls, where are you?). Since I love survival horror and could do with a good scare, Im hoping to enjoy this - if thats the word ;) I have heard only positive things so far, so Im looking forward to playing it some more - the only problem is I have to wait for night to fall so that its dark enough to create the right atmosphere.

Tomb Raider Legends is out Feb 2006 as well! and a awful lot of 360 games are out in March (at the moment, release dates could change) so it's all good!

I have my Xbox360 in the upright position and i have never had any problems with scratching! The thing is you shouldn't move the Xbox360 while the disc is in it and thats exactly what that video was showing! Still if it does scratch your discs without you moving it, then theres a problem.... :wink:

I played COD2 on the 360 in GAME today, it was on some fancy tv and all, but i felt a bit disapointed with it, it just seemed current gen with a bit of added shine. The edges wern't smoth and animation was that good, and it was a lazy port which doesn't play as good as the pc version. Ok it looked nice but so does the pc version what played on a high end pc maxed out. Maybe i was expecting too much, but it just seemed a let down, i am holding out the the rev or ps3 will have more to show, and am very glad i didn't decide to get one now. Saying this i know i'll end up getting one on halo3 luanch day. just a question to 360 owners, what are the other games like?, there bound to get better right?, as the developers get used to the machine, and start using it's full potentail.

I once moved my 360 from vertical to horizontal while playing a game (I was aware of what might happen, so I did it slowly), and it scratched the disk slightly. I can still play, though, and I keep the 360 vertical all the time.

My friend's just taken his 360 back to Virgin and got a full refund - the console actually melted the game (PGR3). There was abig circle around the outside of it and you could smell it melting. His console had just been moved from vertical to horizontal, it was off at the time though.
