Anyone else find they're utterly hopeless and trying to be sniper? i haven't tried too hard but it doesn't seem as fun as melee kills or just dual wielding someone to death though it is very effective when you want to win a team match.

Go to your profile and select auto sign in. There should be a setting for Xbox Live and Windows Live Messenger.

On High Ground it's in the tower, which is up the stairs to your right as you look out from above the gate, and on Valhalla it's in the hill in the centre, just ahead of you if you take the central man cannon from the Waterfall base, and at the top of the cliff in front of where you land if you take the left-hand man cannon from the Lake base.

Any idea where the shotgun is on Snowbound anyone? I know where it is on the other two maps, I can't for the love of god find it on Snowbound...

And apparently some unmodded consoles have also been accidently hit with the ban hammer.

I remember a few weeks ago the people who made the firmware which mods 360's drives said they were aware of a soon-to-be implimented method of detecting backups in the drive and banning and released a new firmware to nobble it before it was rolled out, but it doesn't sound like that's worked. It'll only be a matter of time before a work around is discovered though I'd be willing to bet.

They're banning xboxes though, not accounts. People with modded xboxes can still log into their account via an un-modded xbox so I doubt people will be locked out of live for account issues.... not yet anyway. If something similar happened for invalid overseas accounts, they would just ban the account, not the machine it was using.

Payton knows fans have legitimate concerns about Kojima Productions possibly compromising the game's ambition due to issues arising from concurrent Xbox 360 development -- divided resources, less disc space, etc. -- and he addressed those directly:
"I can tell you honestly at this point, we have not changed the game in any form with the idea of 'oh, we got to do this on 360.' Put aside whether or not we're developing for 360 or not, the game is built on the PS3 hardware, as you guys have known for the past two years or so."

In other words: if MGS4 comes to Xbox 360, it has not affected the game's development. This is the same game Hideo Kojima decided to produce from day one. Make sure to listen to the podcast for more from Payton and the 1UP boys about Snake, Xbox 360 vs. PS3 and more.

I really do fear for the PS3. I know it won't be the end of Sony and all that, but the supposed pick-up just isn't coming quickly enough. It's losing it's big hitting exclusives and sales are dropping. If this is to be a three horse race, something needs to pick up for them. This PS3 Home thing will probably be the best chance of picking it up.

Yeah, that's be known for a while now. It's great, the sword having unlimited energy in the multiplayer led to "sword whores". People who would carry the sword about for the whole game and get loads of kills. I really don't understand why they did that in Halo 2.

No, a loose connection in the actual wire itself, nothing to do with if it's plugged in properly or not. Try waggling the wire about at both ends and see if anything happens.

Your best bet is to pull out the controller/remove the battery. That usually resync's it.

Then I just get owned 5-3, couldn't be bothered playing the last game I was angry for not getting a single point in all bar some of the games. Swine, so now I have to pass a game year to get back there.

I found the point at where my headset's wires were loose. You guys were right. At that big round thing near the part where it plugs into the controller I bent the wire somehow round there. If you can find the Viva Pinata Thread that was on these boards months ago it had some good pointers on how to get some cash quickly. Mostly involving Redhotts and Chillis.

Did anyone listen to 1UP Yours this week? I thought the middle segment about online gaming and the barriers to entry for a casual gamer was excellent.
They basically talked about how hard it is for the average person to go online with a game like Gears of Halo and not get their arse kicked.

This is one of the reasons I don't like Halo. The feeling of going online and being killed time after time, not having a clue what the fuck you're doing, they described it as 'humiliating'.

I kinda have days every so often where I play hours of Viva Pinata. Not had one for a while, maybe I'll get bck into it again soon.

Did anyone listen to 1UP Yours this week? I thought the middle segment about online gaming and the barriers to entry for a casual gamer was excellent.
They basically talked about how hard it is for the average person to go online with a game like Gears of Halo and not get their arse kicked.

This is one of the reasons I don't like Halo. The feeling of going online and being killed time after time, not having a clue what the fuck you're doing, they described it as 'humiliating'.

What do you guys reckon to that, and how do you think they could solve it?


Yeah i listened, i don't have my 360 online yet so i really can't speak on the matter. But I do see where there coming from, i don't want to play a game for ages to get good at it.

However i play halo on the pc and don't find that too hard so i'm not sure how i'll find halo on 360 whenever i get online.

Thats the reason I didn't get into Halo 2, I only got i 2 months ago. Everyone was so good and had all their tactics and crap down to a T. I gave up when I was killed by this knob with an energy sword about 18 times in a row.

I'd say thats pretty much true. Especially with Halo 3 Beta.

Theres nothing to say what you are meant to be doing or where you are meant to be going and thanks to the crappy chat system if you are new to the game its nigh-on impossible to ask someone to explain

Gears i didnt find to bad, the game is fairly simple in its objectives and they were explained to me by people who have been playing since release. The learning curve for the actual combat is quite steep though

I prefer playing in a team of people I know (even just 1 other person) against a team of randoms. What they do changes everytime which makes you a better player.

I still think it's very balanced. You have to decide whether you want to Warthog or not on Valhalla because the laser isn't really that hard to use. Or maybe you could go in with BRs and take out the laser then mongoose back to the Warthog.

This is the truth.
I say I'm quite good at Gears of War because unlikes some people we play against I take my time and such. If I'm bored I'll just run to my death :heh:
But I take my time scanning the area and such. Nintenchris will know this because I told him about my place on Fuel Depot where I look out. I ain't telling you guys...

If you spend time with the game and learn how it works you can become like these good people. Like me....

If you keep playing it then obviously you will start to know where weapons are, the ins and outs of the maps etc.

I don't really see what the fuss is about people getting their asses kicked when they first play. If you were to start marathon running today then the people who have been doing it for years are obviously going to be better than you.

Nah, I think its to stop you from installing it and then passing the disc round for others to do the same. Thats what happened with Halo 2 Map pack.

I got that deal. :) I finally got to play on the 360 after passing my exam with flying colours, and I have to say I am impressed.

I had to wait for the wireless adapter, I went through hell to get one - all the local shops had no stock, and Play and Amazon didn't have any at the time! But it was all worth it, it's really nice to see how Xbox Live just melds with the games you're playing. Little things like the online leaderboards, achievements, and downloadable extras. It definitely feels like Nintendo should have used that approach to Wii online (but more tailored to mainstream gamers).

It was disappointing that there was no year's Gold included, just one month. I could have sworn that buying a Premium got you a year's worth of Gold, but perhaps I was mistaken? Rummaged through all the manuals and could only find the voucher in the Arcade/PGR3/controller pack.

As well as all those games in the deal, I picked up DOA4 for very cheap (£2.99, lol) by trading in SSX Blur.

You get 3x one month free with the console (all 3 have to be on different gamertags though) by signing up for Live and choosing Silver (it then tells you that you qualify for 1 month free, you can do this 3 times) and theres a 1 month voucher inside PGR3/Live Arcade/Wireless Pad Pack.

Not a bad deal really imho, ive had more fun on my 360 with Live than ive had on any console since the days of bringing my Gamecube into 6th form for Smash Bros

I found the opposite. Halo's maps are to big for 4v4, the combat is simple (nade, gun, nade, hit with gun. dead.), dual wielding is pointless because you get pwned by nades and the vehicles are crap (by that i mean half the time trying to run someone over is like hitting a brick wall, you just stop). Oh and you get 10 mins of fighting then 10 mins in the lobby trying to get a new one

I get the rounds thing but it does make the game a little more social (due to more talking time due to being dead lol)

Halo for me. I'm not a tactical or stealthy person and while these are useful in Halo, they are not a requirement. Better, more balanced weapon set and better map design and fast and fun gameplay to boot.

Those of you working on the Street Races in Crackdown may find the following little Tip/Glitch useful:

Start a race . . .any car. As soon as the race starts, drive to the Agency and pull out an Agency Supercar. Drive it back to the track and continue the race. You may lose the first time, but it doesn't matter . . . just finish the race. All 3 laps. Cross the finish line and GET OUT OF THE CAR!

Now, start the same race again, any car you want, and when you start the race, the Supercar will still be there right across the finish line where you left it. Climb back in and blast your way through the crowd . . . shoot 'em, run through 'em, whatever. Win the race, get out of the car after you cross the finish line, get your trophy, pick the same race, but a different car than last time and start again . . . . the Supercar will still be there! Get back in and repeat!

You'll still have some strange XBOX Security thing in device manager, but go into webcam settings on MSN and it'll work fine :)

Anyway, if you're getting something like "Can't find Xbox Security Method 3 driver" then just ignore it, it's not required on a PC, just on an Xbox. The actual driver will have been installed prior to this so MSN should detect the webcam and have the icon available. The same thing happens on my PC at home so if it's still not working, add me to your msn and I'll take you through it tonight.

Hi all, i was wondering if someone could help me out. Well it is more my friend. On Command and Conquer 3 my friend tell me he keeps getting a message during gameplay saying 'not enough command points' (not exact words) I have never had this problem while i play but he says he keeps getting them and it wont let him build any more tanks or troops and just keeps saying the same thing. Anyone got any idea's? It has really confused me!

A "command point" is a cute way of describing the limited number of units you can build on the console version due to a more limited memory architecture. You start the level with so many "command points" and this determines how many units you can build. There is no way to change this at all during the level. It would clarify things if they would just pony up and call it "unit cap". Since there are buildings called "command centers" the term "command points" is needlessly confusing to new players.

End of the year last i heard, but i can see it being next year. Theres too many good 360 games due out on the run up to Christmas so Microsoft will be pushing some of the ones they have control of into 2008 to balance things out

yeah you can. create a new silver account with a new hotmail account. just enter a random US address and phone number.

here is a example of setting up a Japanese account:

Sign up for a new Hotmail account, make the country Japan. Set your postal code to 150-2345 and the phone number 3201-3331.

- Sign out of your gamertag on your 360, and make a new one. Enter in the Hotmail details and most of the sign-up is bypassed.

Enter a few random Japanese characters where needed and the above phone number.

Anyone ever returned items to gameplay? I'm not sure what to do, I don't want to pay £3+ for it with recorded delivery...they coud have just not sent the package. I might just sell it to someone else, try and get my money back on ebay or something.

From my experiences, everyone can use the DLC. You can't download videos from the marketplace anymore though (or at least I can't!).

My face was scarily good when I did it. Made me shiver a little when i saw myself get shot in the head!

Best thing to do is try and get a plain background behind you that's as white as possible.... and look the right way!

lol finally it did it. It was not recognising when I turned my head to the side. Finaly it's done it.
