The official MySpace.com page for The Darkness has revealed today the game's release date. The Darkness will hit store shelves on June 25, 2007 in North America and four days later it will arrive to European stores. The game will ship simultaneously for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The Darkness is the game adaptation of the TopCow's cult comic hit of the same name that was written by comic-book author, Paul Jenkins, and co-created by comic-book artist, Marc Silvestri.

In the game, players assume the role of mafia hitman Jackie Estacado. On the night of his 21st birthday, Jackie is possessed by "The Darkness," an ancient demonic entity that gives Jackie spectacular powers. The story, written by Eisner Award winner Paul Jenkins, follows Jackie and his fight with the fictional Francetti mafia. As the story unfolds, the player will learn to utilize traditional weapons and the extraordinary powers of The Darkness.

The Darkness is being developed by Starbreeze Studios, creators of The Chronicles of Riddick.

Just played an exhibition on Virtua Tennis on very hard and it was impossible. Got a couple of points but lost a 4 game set. The ball is hit so hard that I have to dive to to return it and then I can see well in advance where he's going to hit it but I can't get across the court to return it. Anyone got any tips?

if you just go straight to hard then you'll prob get your ass handed to you, only tips I can give is play a couple of games and try to figure out what sort of moves the computer does with that player and find a way to counter it.

My nemesis is always the fucking serve n volley guys (Dent and Henman) if I let them get to the net they own my ass :)

just make sure and serve in the corners with as much power as possible so they get a crap return and you can control the point. When they are serving try and get a good return in so you're not just running around like a fool. :)

Microsoft Corp. will sell a version of its Xbox 360 with a 120-gigabyte hard drive and a souped-up high-definition video connection in a bid to broaden the appeal of its popular console beyond video games.

Earlier versions of Xbox 360 came with 20 gigabytes of storage. But that filled up too quickly with movies, TV shows and games from the Xbox Live Marketplace online store, said Peter Moore, a corporate vice president in Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment group.

The new Xbox 360 Elite will sell for $479.99. Consumers who already own the $399.99 20-gigabyte model will be able to buy a snap-on 120-gigabyte hard drive for $179.99.

The new console and the drive are expected to hit U.S. shelves April 29.

Microsoft also added an HDMI connection, which sends high-definition content from the console to the TV without losing picture or sound quality, while also helping prevent piracy.

Xbox 360 was the No. 2 U.S. video game console after Nintendo Co.'s Wii in January and February, according to data from market researcher NPD Group. The Xbox outpaced Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3, a $599.99 console that plays Blu-ray DVDs.

Microsoft's decision to upgrade the Xbox 360 is the latest of many steps the software maker has taken to position its products at the center of home entertainment.

Microsoft has incorporated Media Center software, which can turn a computer into a digital video recorder, movie and music player, into all but the most basic version of its new Windows Vista operating system.

And Xbox 360 users can connect the console to their home network, then stream movies, music and other content from the computer to the Xbox and television.

Unlike Sony, Microsoft has not added a high-def DVD player to the console, but consumers can buy an external HD DVD player for the Xbox for $199.99.

On Wednesday, Microsoft also announced deals to bring new high-def video to the Xbox Live Marketplace, including New Line Cinema's film "Snakes on a Plane" and coming releases from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's direct-to-video division.

Microsoft's focus on downloadable high-def video sets the effort apart from the competition, Moore said.

He said the content fills a gap between cable companies' DVR services for fresh TV episodes, Tivo Inc. and Amazon.com Inc.'s standard-definition content available over the Web, and Apple Inc.'s recent move to send iTunes movies and music to the TV from a Mac.

At the core, though, video game players aren't going to choose their system based on its ability to play movies or television shows, said Anita Frazier, an analyst for NPD Group.

"To the extent [the consoles] do other things, it's great, but this industry is all about the games," she said.

I think in my town I could possibly get my Wii for a good $500. And my 360 for $300-$350. I know those prices are huge but in my town the store charges huge amounts for things like this and some little Filipino will want one and his parents will buy it for him woop 360 elite here I come!

Does the 360 Elite work with regular Component TV's as well? Because at the moment I'm short of an HDMI tv... This summer I'll hopefully pick one up... but for now... I wouldn't want to be without a 360 and a Wii...

Cheers, I am getting better, I used to be get my arse kicked straight away, now I'm at least keeping a rally going :p I'm the same with the serve and volley guys, although I have got Jordans tip for beating them, haven't been able to do it yet though.
Wii Tennis has actually helped my Virtua Tennis game surprisingly.

If Microsoft are going to come out with a third, more expensive SKU — which I fail to see the advantage of, as it'll confuse new customers and annoy those who already have one — they could at least fix what is a very real problem with the 360.

It wont be as much as that, too close to the UK PS3 price. Microsoft need to make sure the price of an Elite + HD-DVD drive is less than the price of a PS3 or they will loose sales

Im thinking they'll drop the core over here, reduce the Premium to £239 and launch the Elite at £299. Only prices that make sense to me

If the A-Bomb wasn't invented then today would be very different, I'm not saying that German wouldn't have lost but the war would have definately lasted longer, so your comparison is kinda sucky.

Got home to a nice surprise, theres an unused 2 month Live trial inside! Thats worth about a tenner on its own :D

Well to complete a level is hard to do and its all about the bosses like cerburus and the twin brother guardian statue things from DMC3. It has puzzles and Dante is one of the coolest gaming heroes ever conceived.

I think its the whole free form part of Bioshock that really appeals to me, and i think it'll be different to pretty much every FPS game when its released.

the Elite 360 and the price just makes no sense. I think MS are making a mistake and it makes the PS3 look more attractive. with a estimated £350 price plus £50 for a wireless adaptor your looking at £400. Me personally see it as waste of money considering I could get Japanese 20GB PS3 for £260 and then a external 100GB HD for like £40!

The only hope is that it gets released in Japan as the 60GB PS3 is like £310 - £320 so MS will sell the elite for less so your looking at £230 - £250 max.

The price of £349.99 in that article makes no sense and is probably a guess based on old exchange rates of about £1 = $1.50.

At least IGN have done something right in that they have worked it out based on current exchange rates! Which although won't determine the final price for the UK, help determine a much more likely cost bracket!

It seems logical for the Elite to replace the Premium with a similar or slightly marked up price, and the Premium will see a slight price drop.

I got a 360 2 months ago because there were loads of games out for it but when I looked at the games that are going to come out for it I was flawed, there are a crap load coming out and quite a few of them are exclusive. Plus XBL is awesome. I wasn't considering getting a PS3 until recently but I've decided to wait for a) more games b) a price drop and maybe c) redesign.

Whatever console you get, you arn't really going to go wrong but until I got my 360 I was getting really bored of gaming!

not sure i like the leveling system in Oblivion, namely how all the enemies and general bad guys also level up according to your level to maintain the challenge.

Download Frets on Fire for the PC and have a play around with it (it's free btw). It's essentially the same game as guitar hero but with keyboard control which makes it harder i guess. I really enjoy it so that's why I'm getting guitar hero, even if i never get up to the hard levels.

It's a decent fighting game, not as good as Tekken or Soul Calibur, but still good. REEEEEEEAAAAALLLLYYYY crap boss fighter though. Online is decent as well, but there is lag.

For the first one, join a co-op game (preferably me as I need that achievement too!) and have the other guy pick up the car you're in and throw it in the air (4 star strength helps a lot). Then do as many spins as you can until you land then get the other guy to throw you again and repeat.

The second achievement is best done by doing a boss timed level that has lots of cars in his lair (can't remember a good one right now) and just lock on to the cars and aim at the wheels but moving the stick down. repeat till you get it.

I dont know the first one, but the second, the boss location where its a kinda dirt track. It's like an oblong building.

THe top part on the right of the far right purple dot.
Anyway, theres 5 cars in there. Line them up in a row like they would be behind each other in a queue, front of one to the back of another.
Then you just aim at them, press down on the right stick to aim at the tyres, if you have a machine gun out then holding it down to shoot more than one bullet will shoot out both the tyres. Just go along.
I did it fine. Seemed like it took more than a minute but it worked.

Loving Virtua Tennis still though. Won my first few Rank 100 tournaments, coming back from 3-1 down 30-40 final game to win 4-3 with me and Sharapova. Best game I've played this year so far.

First one, go to the beach near the ferris wheel. There will be huts there. Just use the jump on the huts and do a barrel roll, do one on the next hut, turn round and repeat.

Maybe we could have a dedicated game arranger. And essentially we have a weekend night either saturday or sunday and assign a game to it. Say gears the first weekend, pgr3 the second etc. Then have a calendar set up, so people can follow and instead of saying "i'm up for it" you get on live at the dedicated time and the game arranger then adds people into the game.

How does that sound?

God knows how many levels Earth Defence Force 2017 has, I'm 30 levels in and it says I'm only 11% done. It says over 50 on the box, and judging by what's happening in the game it looks like I'm probably half way through, but the percentage completed just doesn't tally.

I'm now at rank 34 in Virtua Tennis 3. I'm getting fairly good at it I think, although I play for way to long and lose concentration. Lost in a final in one of the grand slams earlier. Still struggling against players that just stay up against the net.

To anyone who's got to rank 1 on VT3; What sort of level was your player at in terms of each ability? Mines at around level 14-15 for most, just wondering what sort of level I should really be getting him up to. I'm assuming over 20-25.

Most of my stats were about 15-17 when I won the Kings tournament and made rank 1. You don't really need that high stats, just a good gameplan for each opponent.

Thats good then, I can beat practically everyone if they're just standing back and hitting it, but when they're up against the net I just can't get the ball past them.

After a mamoth session with Oblivion the past few nights ive just made it to the top of the Thieves Guild, Fighters Guild and Dark Brotherhood all in one night :awesome: Even gained a sneak level of 100 in the process! :grin:

Only got the Mages Guild to sort out now, which i havent even started on then i guess i should get on with the main quest!

Yeah, I've noticed that when playing around trying to find a tactic that works against them. Just trying to find the best time to do it, because if you go to early they get a powerful shot back at you and then it's to hard to hit back.

I'm still really annoyed that my Oblivion character is fucked. If I ever get through all of my games I'm going to restart it and do all the side quests. Need to buy Knights of the nine and Shivering Isles as well.

yeah you have to make sure that when you run to the net, that they can't return the ball at you with too much power or you'll lose control of the point, slices are the best shot to do before approaching the net

I found a pretty easy way to make money in Oblivion, not that I have anything to spend it on. once you go to a guild you can pick up all the silver plates and stuff and in the mages guild all the alchemy equipment and flog it back to the vendor in the guild normally.

A combination of that and some made Alchemy skillz means i'm currently sitting on 9000 gold however I have yet to find anything worth buying weapons wise. Im pretty set with my blade helmet, guantlets, shield and boots, along with Kvatch armour and a couple of rings. and a nice Silver sword. I've found better swords that do slightly more damage but this one being silver means I can use it against ghosts and dont need to bother carrying a seperate weapon. :awesome:

a quick 20 minutes of selling about 70 armlets worth 800 gold each got me to 100,000 in no time. :heh:

Yes, it's a nice simple shooter with big fuck off bugs and robots and is a lot of fun, it does suffer some serious frame rate problems though later in the game if you get really swamped with bad guys, there's just too much going on. Odds are you'll end up dead if you let you get yourself in that situation though so the slowdown doesn't matter so much when it's the last few seconds of your life. Definitely worth the asking price of £17.99.

Clan functionality isn't going to happen for a while yet, Major Nelson denied it would be coming in the spring update but that it will be coming in the future. I'm guessing they'll probably sort it out in time for Halo 3.

Yeah, just done a bit of digging and those screens where apparantly created by one of the devs that programs the blade interface as an example of how clan functionality COULD work if they implemented it.
To be honest it just looks like a second friends list with ranks anyway and doesn't really add anything interesting to me.

Call of Duty 2 is way better.

But my internet sucks and lag is enormous for CoD2 online and in CoD3 the lag is less and is more fair to me, for example if I load a complete round into my enemy, but for some reason he still kills me due to lag, he will die to.

Thats the only reason I own CoD3 is for online well and the 12 vs 12 compared to CoD2 4 vs 4. To be honest... I didn't even own CoD2, I just always borrowed it. Then I recieved CoD3 for my B-Day, but it got boring so literally last Friday I bought CoD2 off ebay for $15 because it's so much more fun.

Man, i'm buzzing. I rarely play GoW online, but decided to hit a Ranked match. First to 12, Fuel Depo. Me and 7 other Americans. The other team was winning 11-4 (And remember this is first to 12), but we decided to stick together, and we annihalated them, i got about 5 chainsaws, probably more. And got the kill that won us the game, god damn i'm happy. I didn't die once in rounds 5-12.

Just hit Level 5 on Oblivion. Nearly got all the Mage guild recomendations, just 2 to get. Have joined the Dark Brotherhood and er thats about it really. I really need to up my personality and willpower though both currently at 35 each :hmm: whereas Endurance is currently at 89 thanks to some lovely enchantments.

Skills wise Alchemy is top with 57, then Blade on 50 want to up most of my Magic really. a couple of them are still on 5 :D But anyway gonna get those last couple of Mage Guild recomendations then head into Imperial City as I have yet to enter it, wanna hit up the University to make some crazy spells and shit once they let me in.

Didnt think of that, thanks. I thought when I was only 2 star driving I managed 2 back flips in the SUV off that ledge in a Shai Gen building. So I tried it but only managed 2 back flips again. I thought I could do about 6 of them.

But I took a leap of faith and got it any ways this afternoon. I must say the game is fast paced and it totally rocks. Although I was a bit bummed they don't let you know that once you chose a Core thats it theres no going back, so play the first level with all the Core then go with the one you like.:grin: :bouncy:
