Aww, well, it's good here. Been up the Empire State building and all that. And it just so happened that the date is was booked for coincided with the 360 launch! I'm going to Times Square at midnight in case there's some event on, as that was where the first Xbox was launched. At the Toys R Us. With the huge ferris wheel in it.

Oh and I got my Universal Media remote today for mine, and I must say it feels a bit weird... It works with the TV in the hotel though, so that's good!

Gameplay have supposadely, recieved news that their launch day stock will increase! People are recieving emails saying they have now got one when they recieved a email beforehand saying they hadn't!

Someone over on the forums said they preorderd 19/8/05 and have now got one!

I played one today in Glasgow Vigin Megastores. The contorl pad is really nice, the new L and R buttons work a lot better than black and white, and the 360 Guide is possibly the best button idea ever.

Games were a dissapointment, as only Kameo (hardly the game to get into at a gaming pod), Call of Duty 2 and King Kong were the only playable games. Every one had amazing graphics on the widescreen, HDTV. Just looking forward to playing Perfect Dark and PGR3.

I called my local Asda, and they're going to receive 10 of each console pack. Premium and Core. They said the electronics department closes at 10, but if I can find someone to go grab me one then I can buy it after 12.

I played one today to very mixed impressions, which have left me a little underwhelmed. I could spend £400+ on so many other cooler things right now. We'll see how I feel before launch night.

I played the XBOX360 for a short while in a Uxbridge store, Call of Duty 2 was the best (And most popular) game to play. Runs very smoothly, graphics are good, the gameplay was solid and the controler's a lot better. This console is gonna do pretty well. I'm not gonna get one but I know a hardcore fan who will.

I'm thinking of being naughty and buying a second one at my local asda and then selling it on ebay like a few days before xmas

i was thinking of doing the exact same as i can get 10% off at asda, so i could save £27, but 2 is enough and i dont want to be fighting for the 360 :grin:

The reason you wont find much on scart on IGN and Gamespot is because it is a european standard, scart is not standard in america - hence why not much about it on IGN and Gamespot. Im getting the advanced scart cable, which provides RGB through scart.

This is really starting to annoy me, all the complaing. It seems like the 360 was doomed to be hyped. First it was the graphics. then the launch, now the crashing problems. Fair enough, if your xbox360 isnt being nice its the companys problems, but theres no reason for people to freak out about 1 in 1000 having problems! I've already told this to Caris, so I'll fill you in too.

I was on the phone with Argos for about an hour a bit earlier and they basically told me nothing. After a lot of waiting and talking to 5 different people they said that they couldn't confirm whether or not I would be getting it despite it being so close to launch :| I asked about how many they were getting and they said they were confident that they would fufill all pre-orders placed before the website put it's 'out of stock' notice up.

However, I don't think this is true as I'd imagine they'd at least be able to tell me I'd be getting it by now if it was. I guess I'll just have to wait it out. I did order three days before they 'sold out' though so anyone who did it before me probably has a much better chance of getting one. :sad:

I asked about the second batch and they said they couldn't confirm when it would be, so that's not looking good either.

i had a go on kameo and king kong today. both were exceedingly pretty, kameo seemed pretty hot aswell. i had loads of fun messing around with the various characters you can be. king kong was harder to appreciate bvecause the controls were for right handers. it was, however, an aesthetic masterpiece. you HAVE to see the t rex.

I didn't get to play it but i did get to see it played, okay the player was crap (kept on getting his neck torn apart), it looked amazing and it was cool when kong lifted the t-rex up and was about to rip him apart but the player duffed it up.

It looks absolutely amazing but then again, so did Starfox Adventures and that was a major let down. This and Perfect Dark are the games that are making me think that maybe I will get an Xbox in the coming months.

I want to see a few more titles before I go out and get one though.

What blows me away is, Kameo looks good and it was pretty much developed, like all the launch games on one Core processor. The Xbox 360 has 3. I think within a year or so, the games will look so much better, its exciting just thinking about how powerful this machine will be

According to 1up.com it turns out they are not true, and Sony are paying some 3rd party developers called Koyeo to post everywhere that their 360's have problems. Obviously hardcore sonyfans will join in aswell.

If true, then very much so. I see no reason whatsoever to get a PS3. Basically the same games as XBox 360, a bit more expensive, not as good online play, looks worse, has a worse controller (if they stick with that design.). If I had money to burn I'd get an Xbox 360 and a revolution (depending on games availiable, I wouldn't get one for the hell of it...)

Its not to early for blu-ray to take off, by the time ps3 launches blu-ray will have launched. It is due to launch early next year.

Yeah so that's why they want you to but a PS3 because every ps3 will double as a blu-ray player (will cost Sony tons tho') so Blu-ray already has a user base.

As in this gen, the PS3 wil probably have a lot of exclusive games that other consoles don't. Blu ray is only expensive just know because it isn't mass produced. When this starts happening, it will drop sharply in price.

he's right. hdtv will become a lot more common during the next generation of consoles, and blu-ray is a much more appropriate medium than dvd to accomodate to the hd era. the 360 may be cheaper to produce and buy, but thinking long-term, sony have chosen a wise strategy in my opinion.

Indeed, as HD becomes more popular and more things are broadcast in it, it takes up more storage on a disk. Even dual layered DVDs can only hold like 10gb, blue ray can hold like triple that.

iv been reading up on blu-ray and hd-dvd and blu-ray has got much more support up to now. but i think its daft having to formats out at the same time.

whats blu-ray going to put on there discs if you can get a movie and extras on to a hd-dvd ?

more extras :heh: i just look forward to buying a tv show boxset with only one disc, it'd be more than easy to get every episode of family guy and and the movie onto one disc, and in higher definition too! i don't think too much space is ever really a problem. the only possible problem i see for blu-ray is if they come out at a price too high for the mainstream to accept it. but as far as i'm concerned, if sony and apple are supporting the format then it's good enough for me.

It will probably be pretty expensive to start with, then as microsoft are laughing with the success of HD-DVD - sony will cut the price to match it.

well, microsoft aren't even supporting hd-dvd yet in current 360's. i've got a feeling that the 360 will be replaced again within two or three years because of microsoft's need to keep up with new media formats, hd and graphics hardware(not shit-stirring because the 360's graphics are lovely but i doubt it'll be difficult for ps3 to top them, especially if its' release is postponed again). ruddy hell, i don't want to be posting this, but i can't get to sleep for the life of me!
