Yeah I got it. Last.fm and Twitter are impressive. I think Facebook is a bit clunky but works ok. I don't think I will ever really use the Zune stuff though.

Those prices sounds about right. Although I think there may be different price offers for non sky customers... Ie... on demand content only, on demand plus live tv etc

I just remembered that I bought The Lost and Damned when it came out and only played it for about an hour. I must've gotten very busy in life then bought a new game or something and shelved it in my mind. That's the problem with not having actual games sitting on your shelf, you sometimes forget what you've got.

They probably won't prevent you from trying, but you won't get a very good stream. Well, you really should be due for an upgrade now anyway! 8mb is standard with most adsl companies now.

So I've come home from work to download the Sky Player on my xbox but like where is it?

Microsoft has said that it is "investigating" the technical problems delaying the launch of Sky Player on Xbox Live.

Offering live and on-demand content, the service was initially scheduled to go live at 10am this morning.

However, there have been widespread reports that clicking on the Sky Player icon currently available on Xbox Live simply brings up a rolling advert for the service and a message which says, "Coming later today".

Writing on his Major Nelson Twitter page, Microsoft's Larry Hyrb said: "UK Xbox Live Members: If you are having trouble w/ the Sky Player, we are aware of the issues and are investigating."

The problems appear to stem from the Sky servers as Sky Player is experiencing technical issues across all of its available platforms.

Update: Microsoft has confirmed that the Sky Player service has now been removed from Xbox Live but will hopefully launch tomorrow.

In a statement, the company said: "The Sky Player on Xbox 360 service did successfully launch early this morning, it has subsequently been suspended due to an unforeseen technical issue.

"With so much excitement and interest in the service, we'd much prefer to ensure that our customers enjoy the highest possible quality of service.

"We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to our customers who have attempted to access the service today. Sky Player engineers are hard at work to resolve the problem - we expect to have the full service available tomorrow."

It will probably sort itself out, or you can buy a Torx T8 screwdriver for a couple of quid from ebay which you can open it up and clean it with. I did that when my buttons were sticking and it was well worth it :)

Not really, our HD movie downloads is closer to netflix, but with those you can stream too. Netflix is just movies afaik. This is something more unique to us.

That is what happens when trying to get an ID on the web. Apparantly they are streamlining the process.

It's now working. Manged to log in and register my xbox with my Sky ID through the xbox and started watching tv... which was pretty pointless as I have sky anyway on this tv.

But it's still cool having the on demand service there so can catch up with things I miss via the Xbox. Works pretty well now it's up and running.

It seems to work well, but it's missing absolutely everything I watch on Sky (i.e. the proper Sky 1 shows, not reality and game show rubbish).

Edit: It's also a shame that they haven't done a BBC iPlayer with it.

High Quality seems to work will on 2Mbps, so low may work.

Also, you need to have Sky Sports on your main box.

I think the best thing on the Sky Player for me so far is the Sky Sports offering of all the football highlights and all the Sky movie selections. The choice is brilliant, must be hundreds of films on here to pick from. Thumbs up from me.

Looking back at my saves the last time I played Bioshock was Christmas Eve 2007. I didn't even complete the first section.
Now I've played and completed it in a few days.

What a fantastic game. I loved to bits walking around with my fingers on fire setting everyone alight, I felt just like Roy Mustang.

Even though I played it like I used to play scouring every corner and not playing for achievements I'm very disappointed I missed 1 of the Power to the People stations.
And also those voice dairies, I'm pretty sure I got every one of them. Oh well.

The ending was a bit of a letdown, it felt a little too easy. I went in with 9 health packs and finished it with, I'll say 6. I did use the health station once.
I can't wait for the second game now.

Don't think it's an age thing. My favourite game of all time is Banjo Kazooie. Or Pokemon. Super Monkey Ball is up there too.

If it was an age thing I wouldn't still enjoy LittleBigPlanet or BK:N&B. I dunno. Seems to me like Nintendo lost their magic a bit. Theres the occassional gem like Galaxy, but the inbetween games just aren't as good anymore.

Been playing Condemned alot today, and I know Skunky loves it, but I just find it more frustrating than anything. Trying to get all birds/metal pieces, and I just did level 7 (or 8? One in the library) and I know I got all birds... but because I died after one of them I forgot to pick it up. Sigh.

One time I was about to jump in this dumpster, the game saved me a new checkpoint then I died, only to continuously be brought back with two hobos behind me while I have one hit's worth of health and a shotgun outta ammo, one hit away from breaking. Must've taken me about a dozen (or two) attempts to get through that bit. Gay.

I just find the block/hit combat system a bit too unreliable. If it was smoother and more rock/paper/scissors with what your opponent was doing (rather than 'hit them, walk back a bit, wait a bit, hit them again, snore, snore) then it would be more challenging, and less... unlucky.

The story is sorta-intersting, and the freaky bits (mannequins!) are fairly freaky, but I do feel like I'm playing this purely to finish it. Though the achievements may make mre re-play it again.

I'm expecting Dead Space and Alone In The Dark to arrive tomorrow. They'll fit in well with Condemned and F.E.A.R. as my 'games I shouldn't be playing at 3am'. I expect Borderlands and GTA Episodes and Fallout 3 GOTY to arrive weds. Yum. Almost work waking up early for!

Downloaded some update today which took 24 minutes to install. I've not been keeping up with anything to do with xbox, what did it do to enhance my gaming experience?

Whilst I was connected to the internet on the console I updated Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 because I'd heard they'd added in some new ranks and upped the cap of the ACES to 100.
I'm already 1 off the top elite rank after it added all the experience for the ACES.
It's such a good game.

SOoo... I'm totally 20g away from completing Condemned. The gay thing is that the achievement I need is the one for 'finding' all fire-arms. Y'see, I already have the achievement for finding all fire-arms and melee weapons, so it just kinda bugs me that the game is stupid/they didn't describe their achievements properly.

I think that I'm supposed to kill with each gun. As far as I'm aware I only need to do so with the sawn-off and the revolver. I know sometimes I'm fortunate enough to get a revolver at the end of one of the campaigns (if the hobo fighting the gun-hobo steals his gun before hopping the fence), and a sawn-off can be found in the library... but does anyone (skunky?) know of a single level to find both in, to save me time?

And why the fuck are there only 970 points to be earned with this game?! What madness is that!

Yep, I totally hear that, and apart from short-lived deviations to the PS2 and original Xbox I always ended up returning to Nintendo games/consoles. Sadly, I can't say that anymore and I honestly think I will be selling my Wii soon, especially as I just can't get excited about anything that is getting released for it, maybe it is an age thing in my case :p.

It's now almost a year since I picked up the 360 and I have had so many awesome experiences on it already, to think I could have missed out completely is shocking now.

There is still a crap load of older games as well as stuff early next year that I want to experience so if my Wii does get sold that may help to finance the missed games, unless I get tempted by a PS3, which could happen.

You found every type of melee weapon and fire-arm
You need to hit an enemy with every melee weapon in the game, as well as using every firearm as a melee weapon and using the taser. I would suggest writing down/printing off a list, and every time you use a weapon, cross it off.

The list of melee weapons is:
Rebar Conrete, Conduit, Sledgehammer, 2x4 Nails, 2x4 Bolts, Fire Axe, Large Pipe, Small Pipe, Rebar Bent, Shovel, Rebar, Crowbar, Mannequin Arm, Sign, Steam Pipe, Clothes Rack, Locker Door, Meat Cleaver, Paper Cutter, Gas Pipe, Desk Drawer, 2x4 Burnt, 2x4 Fire, Desktop, Stick, Large Plank, Fireplace Poker, .45 Cal, Revolver, Shotgun (pump), Shotgun (sawed-off), Sub-Machine Gun, Rifle, Taser


This achievement will only unlock at the end of a chapter, so if you have used all weapons and don't get it right away, make sure you finish the chapter to receive it.

They had them on Gamesbite earlier in the week for £28. They vary in price, i think they are just over £30 now.

Only 150g away from getting the full 1,000g on Smackdown vs RAW 2010. 100 Counters and the Training Check-List to complete, then all done.

Cheers mate - I've actually been using that site! That's the description for the Melee Mayhem award that I already had, but queerly the Fire-Arm freedom award (find all guns) doesn't get opened just by finding all the weapons - you gotta kill with each gun. I managed to get the achievement earlier today, though! First proper 100% game I have on the xbox now :P Wanna borrow it?

I've just started Dead Space and... man, this is definitely worth the £15 I paid - I can tell that already. It totally feels like Metroid Prime in so many ways. It tells me I've put in 50 mins of gameplay and I've pretty much only just started chapter 2 about 10 mins ago. Very glad they have auto save points as well as the optional spots about the place (horrible, horrible Dead Rising flashbacks...). I can't remember if you have this (shorty, I'm still talking to you :P) but I'll lend it to you once I'm done with it as I think you'll like it.

Alone In The Dark arrived today, too, but it's still all wrapped and snug. I figure Borderlands, Fallout GOTY and Episodes from Liberty City will arrive tomorrow. My aim is to complete Dead Space by the end of the week/end, then GTA, then Fallout 3 (playing through the DLC means I'm likely to want to finish my campaigns with my neutral/evil dudes)... then Borderlands, probably once everyone else is sick and tired of it.

Dead Space. I game I was going to buy but then got Fallout instead. Apparently my flatmate has it but he lent it out. I really want to play it.

So I've been playing a bit of Fallout. Got out of the Vault and made my way to the closest town, Springvale? Met some woman there, had a chat and now it seems I've already done a quest without even picking it up from the guy who I'm apparently meant to say this girl is dead to.
Then I went into the School had a wander around and saw some hole in the ground. That's the one thing I dislike about RPGs like this.
I'll explore an area but then come up to something like this and think that I'll miss a lot of stuff by going to it. I'm not sure how to explain it but it's this really massive open are to do whatever you want that puts me off these games.
But I want to give it a shot.

Arkham Asylum made me jump a little with all those "Nutters" running towards me screaming. Still, a quick punch shut them up. Bioshock, a quick knock with any random item shuts them nutters up.

Edit: Which also reminds me. I must get back to playing Quantum of Solace my mate lent me way back in August. He may want that back.

The plasmids are what sold it to me the first time. Clicking your finger and setting someone on fire I've wanted in a game for a long time. And this had it.
The only time anything scary happens is at the start when you encounter the Splicers for the first time. After that (and researching them for advantages) they're just like any other enemy. The further I got into the game the more I thought there were less enemies.

I was kinda the same with Fallout. Never really got hooked. I can see why people love it, but theres something about it that doesn't quite work for me. The shooting feels really inaccurate because of the RPG points stuff, characters are really lifeless, I dunno.

Ok, I was facing a similar situation to the last few posts; I'd put in maybe 20 hours gameplay - I was focused on the exploring rather than simply following through the main storylines, so often I'd be coming up against enemies I was too weak to defeat, then I'd have to re-load and approach in some sort of gamebreaking way that squeezed all teh fun out of the experience.

At some point I basically went from medium difficulty to easiest, and got on with the storyline. I found the combat situations less infuriating (it was taking me days to get from A to B) and the rapid acceleration through the storyline taught me how I was supposed to be playing -- I started to realise when I could afford to go off and explore, rather than saying to myself "i'll go visit this corner of the map, then get back to the game" (only to be side-tracked a gazillion times by anything and everything I'd encounter along the way) I'd allow the game to open up the map to me as I went.

Plus Megaton is possibly my least favourite part/place of the whole map. Besides Andy the android (a nod to The Dark Tower), the place is irrelevant to me. Do The Bad Thing to the place, go watch it from Twopenny Towers, and you'll feel a lot better (plus you might well "woah"...

But my point was; I forced myself through about 20 hours of the game (probably four longish, late-night sessions of teh game) and then gave up for a few months. The reason people are foaming at the mouth for this game is simply because it does get better, and it really is one of the best games of this generation/ever. Like The Wire for TV shows, you do have to commit more of your time than you normally would with a game before it gets good.

- Mates! I'm about 3/4 through Dead Space, and I have to say it's been a while since I've been so frustrated by a game repeatedly!

I'm not finding the game scary at all. I essentially cannot conserve health/ammo at all, so each room, now, is basically me dying a few times trying to do what I want to do. The kintetic ability is annoying me because it likes to pick up little cups rather than massive crates that I can use to shunt enemies into gravshift things. The guns are annoying me because I can't afford the good ones and I haven't focused on upgrading just one gun. The controls annoy me because you can't run while using kinetic, you can't run while reloading and the stomp move is not hugely accurate.

But mostly it's the lack of ammo. There's simply no room for strategy when I have to use all of my ammo to clear pretty much any room. I guess I should play it properly and, like, try to avoid conflict as much as possible, but most rooms now seem to make that impossible, so I have no choice.

I'm going to finish it tonight, then play through on the easier difficulty simply to up my guns, and hopefully enjoy the game a bit more.

But the game really isn't scary. It's hugely predictable, really.

EDIT: although a nice glitch is that often the enemies can't run through open doors, so you can just let them group up there and pick them off without, at least, having to worry about the health stuff.

I guess I just suck at gaming.

I'm still getting through Dead Space, on chapter 10, and will probably play through on the easy difficulty to try and max some stats/achievement hunt. Aye, I got GOTY edition which was a tenner more instore. The updates were a tenner each I think, in boxes of 2.

Just finished it on Veteran a little while ago and I'm quite disappointed. Disappointed that it wasn't really hard. Still, it's an awesome game and the music is incredible.
I do wish the last achievement only gave me 20 points and I somehow got an achievement worth 2 points. Now I have to settle with 33,336 points with it giving me 25 points.

Thing is I just accidentally used my flamethrower, so I let myself be killed to let the game auto-load the last 'checkpoint'... Considering I'm only on the first level I can see myself completing the entire game and still not get the achievement... I could start again but I want to continue with this 'profile' so I can fully upgrade all guns.

Going to play GTA: Episodes after a bit of this, looking forward to it!

I just started Dead Space actually, it scared the hell out of me at the start but I think I've become a bit relaxed with it (waiting for an elevator to open it's doors aiming my gun waiting for something to come at me and it did made me think it might become a bit predictable) so I'll enjoy it more instead of playing a bit at a time being scared.
More to the point I quoted you. I got to this section where a crap load of the things came at me and I died. I started again with half of my health. If it loads from the last checkpoint shouldn't I have started with full health?

If you've used scrobbling then it's perfect... you can play your entire library through your 360 without needing to connect to it at all, or play recommendations based on what you've listened to. Alternatively you can just enter the name of a band you like and start playing a playlist of similar music.

Started my second run of Dead Space and am planning on getting the achievement for winning the game with only a plasma cutter.

So far i have to say it has been much easier then I expected, already at chapter 4 after one play session and the only time I died was when I was out on the hull and thought it would be funny too see if I could jump onto the planet and.. uhm yeah.

Arcade's good for offline consoles. My housemates have one and the updates games require rapidly fucks you over.

As for Dead Space -- I think I jumped once in the entire game. Found the metroid-ish elements weren't explored (pun) enough, and think they added the 'upgrades' too soon. They should've allowed for back-tracking to other parts of the ship (where possible) and had some rooms you couldn't get into at first.

If I started a new game (on impossible mode, for example) do I get my souped up Isaac? Impossible mode from scratch sounds, frankly, ridiculous.

Ahah, savegames are like... a few kilobytes. I think the 6GB you found was the installation size, or the size for downloading the whole game through the console's marketplace.

I've been getting into Fallout 3 these past few days and finally made it to Rivet City early this morning.
I was told by my flatmates that Hard difficulty would be pretty damn hard and well, I've died a few times and thought some opponents were tough but I've not thought it's been really hard to do anything. I've come up against some super brute things with mini guns and although they're annoying cos I'm using a combat shotgun (which is awesome) once I'm up close... dead. I thought it was funny that I made some kid in Rivet City run away from home.

I don't think it took this long to re-do both the Banjo games, but i suppose it could take longer because PD used the Expansion Pak.

The 3 year warranty is only for the 3 red rings or E74 I believe.
I had the E74 error a few years back and got my 50 sent back to me, when they anounced that that was covered under the 3 years, because I'd paid for the repair.
Any other fault isn't under the 3 years I think. I'm not sure, I've never looked into it because my stuff hasn't really broken. Apart from what I said but you get what I mean.

It's not wrong as such I mean I kinda want it too but it's more of a 'sort-of want' then an 'OMGDOWANT!' as the Tennis was indeed good but I didn't pay full price for it, bought it for £5 and it was money well spent because of the amount of enjoyment I got from it.

It all depends on reviews really, we'll see.

I loved the campaign mode to bits. Playing with 3 mates over Live is a fantastic time and such a laugh. I remember when the game first came out I was ill and off work, still played it with Caris though. :D
