I had to change my tv to 60hz and DOA4 worked fine! Also works on HDTV's fine as well, so i've heard!

Didn't get my TV from Argos again, i HATE them now. Had to re-order and won't get it till tuesday, which i doubt. Will NEVER use them again, they actually lied to my mother in the morning stating it was actually on the delivery van! It's in Hartfordshire now.... :nono:

Anyone know anyother good HDTV's other then the Samsungs around the £700-£750 price mark? The Samsungs are stupidly hard to get hold off and i don't think i'm going to have any luck with Argos. I want the TV to have HDMI and it must be a HD LCD.

The samsung is a decent TV but its analogue picture quality compared to other similarly speced tv's is shockingly bad. You can get hold of the Sony KDLS26A12U for just over £800, its the cheaper of the sony's but has a much better analogue picture. Youc ould also get the Panasonic TX26LXD52 for £800 which is also the cheaper of the two panasonics but again its up there with the sony. According to the website it doesn't have an HDMI input but someone I know says it does

Head to dabs/misco and find the 26" HD-ready Acer TV. It's what I use, and it's beautiful. Only £530, too.

You have a point. If i have any trouble getting hold of the Samsung, and if i decide not to get the Acer (which is a SUPERB price) then the Sony one will be my last resort.

I never wanted to spend more then £500 in the first place, but i seem to be going higher and higher! I must keep to a strict limit! :D

I'd certainly get the Panasonic over the Sony, but then they're both better than the Samsung. With the Panasonic being slightly cheaper it really is an excellent buy.

Who me?! With TV's that good I'd certainly like to! Seriously though, the Panasonic 52's are brilliant TV's. Only really bettered by their 500 series.

I run a Samsung 32 inch HD LCD with built in freeview and have nothing but praise for it. Analogue signals look absolute trash regardless of the televison brand, and will look trash unless you have a SUPER ANTENNA outside your window (I have my own antenna, win).

There still good tV's don't get me wrong but comapred to the Panasonic's and the Sony's they are rather ropey.

Oh please, Sony's TV's have been going down hill for years. Panasonic, Philips and Samsung are the only ones you wanna look into.

Out of all the 26 inch models made, the sony tv's are definantly one of the best. The samsung one sint in the same league.

The acer one doesn't have the component input - you'll need a VGA cable. It looks great, though, and is still the cheapest option for HD gaming I found.

So who's getting Ridge Racer this friday? I actually waited for a PAL release and quite pleased i did, DOA4 has taken loads of my time, i also played PDZ last night and it's still brilliant! :D

My bro's getting NBA 2K6 Friday 27th. One question though! Is NBA Live or NBA 2K6 Better?

Which one is best graphically? Which one is best Playability wise?

Thats what i thought. Over on the gamefaq forums, they stated that 2K6 is miles better then NBA Live, NBA live was the lowest selling UK launch game (a little fact there).

NBA 06 is a pretty good game, it takes a while to get used to the new cinematic angle but after that it is definantly fun to play. It's no where near as bad as some of the reviews made out it was.

Theres a cinematic angle? I may rent this (if you can) to see how it plays etc..I have alkways bought 2K6 games though.

I thought they were pretty harsh on alot of the 360 launch titles. Espicially Amped 3 and Quake 4!

I found the Basic Route fairly easy - I had to retry maybe one or two of those races. The later routes are solid, though. Trying to work out how to get those messages from Reiko now...

Oh, and DJ whatsisface from Tekken is funny to listen to. Totally unsuited to the game :-p

I think the reason some games got so much stick is down them being not so different from this generation. So if you havent played NBA 06 or madden 06 etc you'll fidn them brilliant. Especially madden, it was the first time I had ever played it and now im hooked on NFL.

I've decided i won't be buying any more magazines other then Gamesmaster, which gives me a reviews round-up of all games on every console and it ain't bad, it's still pretty cheap as well £3.25.

I've just put alot of my old CUBE mags in the recycling, all that money i've spent on them just seems a waste now.

OXM 360s a waste of money anyway, before you even look at it. I used to buy OXM before, just for the demo disks, but now with the marketplace there's no point, it's just another crappy magazine with nothing going for it.

Once I finally finished it I found out that, for some reason, the difficulty was on "Very Hard".

I got DOA4 today, I spent like half an hour trying to beat Story Mode with one of the characters. "Man this is hard", I thought. I died like 30+ times trying to beat it.

Once I finally finished it I found out that, for some reason, the difficulty was on "Very Hard".

Christ.

Lol, it gets easier after youv played a few story's, you start getin to know some basic moves, and eventually go pretty fast through the story, Time Attack on the other hand is a pain in the ass.

In DoAU and 3, easy way to get out of combo's when you're on the floor is to just roll backwards or sideways before you get up and that way you can get away.

Alternativly, block like a whore and just try counter all you can, but don't leave yourself open!

I seriously cannot believe how much better the graphics of every X360 game i have played on it so far look on a HD tv.

Seriously King Kong for example is wonderful. PDZ's horrible jaggy's have gone and Kameo looks stunning!, i'm really upset that i didn't play Kameo from the start using a HDTV, although i may play it again!

Even Need For Speed: MW looks more beautiful. The cracking of the tar in the road, the car gleeming and reflections on the roof stand-out so much more! The trees! The same goes for PGR3!

Call Of Duty 2 NEEDS HDTV, i can now see the writing on the journal and players stand-out more! Even the gun your holding becomes more realistc as the writing on it, stands out through the rusty metal!

I'm so so pleased a invested in a LCD! :D

Thanks Alot! I thought i wasn't going to see any difference but my god i can! The whole thing is just shaper, brighter and jumps out of you more!

The dinosaurs skin for example in King Kong is now all cracked, shiny etc..it's like you know what the texture is going to be like, rough etc..

I wasn't expecting anything like this at all! So happy! :D

I got 26'' one. The 23'' one is impossible to find and if you do (www.digi-uk.co.uk) you will find that loads of people have back-ordered them. Although keep trying. :wink:

My experience with buying this TV was awful, i couldn't find it anywhere (even though i have found loads of sites which have it for sale now, typical) so i had to use Argos Direct! My opinion? DON'T! I wouldn't of bought it from there, but my dad works there and gets money off and i have 9 months to get the full-amount and then pay the lot off before interest sets in, so thats very helpful. However they messed up one of my orders, and nearly the other one! ::shrug:

the 26'' is really pretty big, i had a 32'' Phillips CRT before and going down a size didn't make alot of difference. Like everyone said on here though, the 23'' is nearly the price of the 26'' and the 26'' comes with HDMI and alot of other stuff etc.. it really is a beauty as well, for the price it's totally amazing!

Man, you know. I thought PDZ was playable. But to be honest it's damn right awful.
Co-op is laggy, frame rate is beyond awful and the levels are just so unfun and frustrating that you just hate playing it.

Me and Dom are on medium difficulty (secret agent i think), on level 11 of 13. Incredibly annoying...

I've never loved PDZ. I am enjoying it and I think it is a good game, but not amazing.

The AI is a bit disappointing imo, and the story makes no sense whatsoever, but still the solo player is pretty fun.

Online...well I haven't played with any friends yet(Router problems, NAT 'strict') but from what I've played online, its pretty good but doesn't come close to CSS personally. CSS is my online FPS bitch.

Kameo is by far the best game so far for me(although I only have two:heh: )

Oh and the Fifa 06 demo....what a joke. :woops:

I love PDZ. Me and my bro were speculating which PD is the better game and we both said Perfect Dark N64 though.

Saying that though, PDZ in my opinion is brilliant, and i'm never getting rid of it! The single-player is good, and the multiplayer rocks.

Call Of Duty 2 wins best 360 launch game for me though, and GUN is last, purely because it's just the Xbox version, i don't even think they tried to change any of it (graphically). Even King Kong looks as though they have made the graphics better.

THAS looks alot shaper on a HDTV by the way, and Amped 3 looks more smooth and sharp! ;)

Perfect Dark Zero is a great game, at first I wasn't to keen on it, but I think I was finding it a bit easy, getting riddled with bullets yet seconds later having most of my health back, started to enjoy it much more as I got toward the later levels. Really enjoyed playing through it again on Secret Agent rather than Agent, though the Jungle level on Secret Agent did have me swearing at the screen.

Very good game, very Perfect Dark-y. Which people forget was different to Halo (Halo, on the other hand is crap, really disliked that game, so overrated).

Cheaper than street retailers, and with pre orders you pretty much always get a day early, and if not on the day.

Microsoft to Halt Backwards Compatibility Until March or April

According to activexbox, Microsoft has stated that there will be a halt on any further backwards compatibility additions until at least March or April. This comes as a big disappointment to all those who were anxiously watching some of the upcoming Xbox titles such as Black.

We've been informed today that there are going to be no more Backward Compatibility updates released for the Xbox 360 until March at the earliest. Microsoft's David Reid has stated that the team who do the BC work are on holiday throughout January and will start work on priority titles when they return. But from what it sounds like, there will be only a few more updates released through 2006.

This will come as a disappointment to many new Xbox 360 users, not only because the lack of new 360 titles but also any new plain Xbox titles they may like the look of (Black for example) will not work on their shiny new 360. It is no wonder less Xbox games are being sold now.

I'm get really pissed of with the amount of twats on LIVE. On PDZ playing DarkOps Infection, If they cant find the last guy they shoot each other till the game ends.... WHY!!! Sorry im generalising a bit, but its happened the past 2 out of three times ive played. Especially when you have a really nice gun, and people on your own team kill you so they can have it... it really winds me up, ive given out plenty of bad feedback for people like this and i hope you lot will to, if you ever come across someone like that. I would personally have thought that the fact that stealth and a collection of spy tools play a huge part in both games would suggest some level of similarity, but maybe thats just me. Tenchu FTW.

Yes, as with GR2, and all the rainbow 6 games you'll pay for an unfinished game, more than likely. Then if you're lucky, they'll patch it after all the people who bought the beta version have reported all the faults.

You seem to have inserted the reasoning for some other point, as I don't find the fact that we'll have to 'make do' with under 70 games by June as a particularly persuasive argument.

You'd have been better going with: Large amounts of defective units. Lacklustre backwards compatability. Rushed/lazy launch titles. Often extortionate prices.See, it isn't that hard.

There isn't 16 games out at the mo, theres actaully a couple more! i have 16 360 games and i know i didn't buy them all. If i remember correctly the N64's gaming catalogue wasn't exactly bulging for the first few months was it? I actually would like to know how many games came out on day one (i'm pretty sure it was one) the price of them, i'm pretty sure you paid £50 for Turok? and how many games came out in over a month from launch?:grin:

I think Microsoft did pretty well with the 360 launch, it's not as though we had to wait 3+ months after USA got it is it? Like the Gamecube's awful European date.

I congratulate them, obviously alot of the consoles were going to be broken if rushed out, so i'm a little dissapointed in that, but Microsoft fix them and send them back in like a week!

The launch games are actually VERY good as well, lay into PDZ all you like, but it really does show what we can expect and more from future titles. PGR3, Condemned, Kameo also all fantastic! So four 'superb' games coming out in one day is brilliant, i'm sorry but i don't remember a console launch where so many good games come out on day one, all of the 16 i've got, i've been very happy with (of course some are not exclusive)! I wasn't expecting a epic game on day one, but i am this year. :wink:

I thought i read somewhere that Nintendo stated the Revolution will come out worldwide within 3 months? A little bit different then 4 weeks isn't it? I hope Nintendo release the Revolution everywhere within a month to be honest, they've had more time then Microsoft afterall.

So i applaud Microsoft, they may not have sold as many as they wanted, but what people seem to forget is, you can't sell a console if there sold-out everywhere and theres a shortage!

So don't lay into the 360 without buying one or trying one for many hours before you give a overall opinion on what it's like. Also i understand this is a Nintendo board, but how you can lay into Microsoft without actually mentioning some of Nintendo's low-points is beyond me, people seem to forget the price of the N64 and games, the releases of games, i remember having to wait months for games to be released! The wait for the Gamecube the list goes on and on.

(PLEASE NOTE, i am NOT having a go at anyone, i'm just saying what i think) :grin:

I liked them all! Gun is probably the one i like the least, purely because it's so Xboxy, but i haven't played it long enough to give a overall opinion on it.

Everyone has different likes and dislikes afterall. ;)

Maybe so, but buying games that are pretty much identical to a cheaper version on another platform just strikes me as stupid.

But games like Tony Hawks and Gun aren't better versions on the 360, they're just had a (very) slight graphical polish, same with things like NFS, and FIFA may have had the polish, but they've taken away some of the games features.
Plus it's not wether or not they have the original game, it's the fact that they can buy what is for all intents and purposes the same game for a tenner cheaper.

I haven't got a Xbox or PAL Gamecube, so i couldn't buy 'Need For Speed', 'Gun', 'King Kong' or 'Tony Hawks: AS' on any other platform other then PS2 which i'm not keen on!

No, hardly any! Around 2500 i think, wth 55 achievements. I'm not rushing my games. :hehe:

I've already completed King Kong, Dead Or Alive 4 (all story modes anyway).

Nearly PDZ, Kameo,Tony Hawks: AS, Call Of Duty 2.

I'm trying my best to spread them out, until March at least. Like i said before i don't want them to end! Espicially Call of duty 2! :laughing:

Let me point out my resoning, Microsoft have scored both incorectly with pricing of console, i.e mass people= £199-259 max. And for software most DVDs are around £15 so market it at a max of around £35. With a decent libary to begin with, ie have at most 5 titles completed, with another 10% of the titles that had be announced 75% developed. Which would make launch.

Microsh!ts keep on backtracking "40 games at end of year" "3million units worldwide by March"
Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure you're not actually saying anything there, are you?

Remember kids! The Full Auto demo is available from the Marketplace as of tomorrow. I didn't get the last issue of OXM (because it's rubbish) so I'm quite keen to play it.

I wish they'd put up a Ridge Racer demo, and the King Kong one. I really wanted the COD2 one fom the kiosk demos but eventually managed to download it. And it's only 200mb! Not sure why the Marketplace ones are so big...

That's a difficult one. DoA is very much a love or hate game.

Dead or alive is the fastest beat 'em up ever made, by miles. At times the counters can be astoundling quick and can change the shift of battles. Most of the characters are quite balanced (bar Jan Lee, who has always been overly powerful). The online mode is quite big this time around, in Ultimate it was quite boring after a while... but hopefully they've sorted that.

(oh and it has impossibly hot anime chicks...)

All i can say is, i wasn't a fan of any other DOA's before but i LOVED DOA4. It is however fecking hard, but keep trying and trying again and you really get into it! It certainly has a 'addicted' factor, there was many times where i had to be dragged out of the room by my parents to help me get away from the thing..... :bouncy:
