Okay I found this on another forum.......

It could be true/It might not be true

Make up your own minds.

Interesting. Those who know me around here know i'm not one to believe these typres of things, hell to give them the light of day, but this...this seems it may be...possible. Not right, possible. Here's why:

1. Whenever adressing the issue of release date Nintendo has always stated, no asserted, that they would release, if not before the PS3, then at least alongside it. They tag the PS2s lead as one of the reasons it took the sales this generation, and won't allow it to happen again.

2. The Wii is not like the PS3 or 360. It's a simple, quiet machine, and supposedly cheap and cost effective. These are the criteria required for an easy to make product. The Wii should be able to be made fast, and not have the production hickups that competitors products face.

3. The poster. Seems reliable. However may be inside joke.

There's only one thing in the back of my head. I remember an article that spoke of the company supplying the graphics chips (or something along those lines) and that they had just been ordered. Someone help me with this.

If true, great news.

Seriously, why would reps know about that? I call bull.

I think it was memories from NEC.

Well I believe with this since Nintendo knows a global launching is not easy so they are preparing everything now so there's no shortages like x360 or DS.
Now I don't believe we'll see it befor september, maybe october cause ps3 should be launched at november...

03-05-2006, 12:32 AM
Lazy Boy i remember that article you speak of too.
But Im also one to be unsure about the credulity of this. I would like to believe it, and I am inclined to. But theres always that niggling doubt.

I hope it is true.

We'll just have to wait and see i suppose.

The Wii hardware went gold ages ago, so this is feasable...

I have to say that this might be true, especially with the NEC news in mind.

Nintenchris

Im gonna say this news is true also... simply because i want the Wii to come out as soon as possible because im possitivly bursting to get my hands on a Wii.

I think an early/late July/August date would make sense, means for once Nintendo may have the world in their hand as we all no Summer is the slow month for games, which would give some power to Nintendo's Wii brand or the 'What Is It' brand.

Ahh god, you kids are too young to remember, but thats what sega saturn did

and it ended in DISASTER.

mind you it was released for $400

....and there were no games

It won't release before September anyway. They could be building stock, however, seeing the supply problems the 360 had when they began producing only 3 months before release.

I just can't believe this to be honest. October, Novenber is my guess. It was only a rumor that the Wii had gone gold, I think this was in late January, early Febuary time. I think we need to get used to seeing the games for a good few months and so Nintendo can get their message across to the 'non-gamers'

Could to true but I doubt it will launch in europe or the US before september.

03-05-2006, 01:22 PM
Doubt it, not enough developers have the final dev-kits surely, I thought these were to be issued out around June... give them a few months for touching up the games I'd say November is the best bet, maybe October!

Smowza
03-05-2006, 01:28 PM
i want Wii to be as successfull as it can be and that means lots of good games, august time would be too soon for that i think. Nov or Dec (europe) would probably be better even thou i want it now god damn it!

Owen
03-05-2006, 01:38 PM
This would be great if it's true!

Although i still believe Europe will get the Wii first and in late october/early november.

Remember Zelda: TTP is coming out September 2006 probably, and Nintendo said it's before the Wii.

I really would like a September release for the Wii though!

there are no games ready for wii aswell.

basically, squash any surprise launch, it aint happening.
It's announced very many titles for Wii, and i don't doubt many of them are ready for launch.

how do we know either way? we dont so in 1 week from this very minute we will be ready (with out jollies on) for iwata to say japan july release, America october release, europe christmas release. Christmas release woohoo. christmas 2008. doh

Domo Kun
03-05-2006, 02:21 PM
I'd kinda prefer a later launch. If it comes out in the summer I wouldn't want to wait untill Christmas for it, and I like getting things for Chirstmas ^__^

Hero-of-Time
03-05-2006, 02:26 PM
Although I want it ASAP I dont think it will come out before Oct. That is the start of peak sales due to the Christmas rush I mean launching in the Summer could hurt them due to peeps being on holiday. Thats why many companies dont release many titles in the summer months. Dont know if its the same in the rest of the world but it holds true here in the uk.

An early release would be cool. I could see Nintendo anouncing this May 9th.

Don't forget guys that developers can develop there Wii games on the cube, and port them over, as the dev suite is similar.

gaggle64
03-05-2006, 03:02 PM
Hmmm, Nintendo have never been one to rush themselves, and not without good reason. The 360 rushed and is still struggiling to find its feet. I don't predict any major suprise about a new release date.

YenRug
03-05-2006, 03:14 PM
For those dismissing early release on the grounds that final dev kits aren't in place, yet, just remember that the Xbox360 final kits went out a month before release. Not saying that this supports any claims made, just don't use it as concrete evidence to dismiss them, either.

July?! I think i faint if the Wii was released in July!

well maybe not faint...but i will be VERY excited!

Nintendo did say theres going to be loads of surprises at E3 and in a recent interview someone from Nintendo stated 'if you think the other remote having a tilt sensor is a surprise, you ain't seen nothing yet' or along those lines....

Is Nintendo holding a early launch attack up it's sleeve? I'm not going to dismiss it. I think Nintendo has learnt by it's mistakes and i'm positive the launch games are very well into completion, we've known about the Wii for a awful long time now. It's not as though it's only just been revealed. We are talking nearly a year now aren't we that the actual console was first unveiled?

July maybe a little too early, but i wouldn't dismiss early September/October if i were you!

ShadowV7
03-05-2006, 03:26 PM
I think it's early aswell,no one can tell if the voice is real or not.I would fall to the ground if there was an early launch.

03-05-2006, 03:28 PM
JULY!!!!!! oh my god!!! that would be incroyable!!!

If Nintendo are planning a big surprise at E3, I wouldnt be that surprised myself if it was an early release. I hazard the earliest they'd release it would be August though.

JULY!!!!! thats only 2 months away!!!!

oh be still my beating heart..........!

There's a very good reason why consoles and games are not released in Summer. People aren't at home. They're either at home or they're out playing in the sunshine. Wii will be released in September at the earliest. I'd put money on that.

I agree with you but i think (in my opinion) those times are over.

Of course the majority still go out at summer so i reckon you are correct!

Still i never understood the 'Video-Game drought' from June-September, people still play them at night don't they?

I hope Nintendo release it when they think (please god earlier).

ShadowV7
03-05-2006, 03:46 PM
Summer is the 'drought' time for games. That's why Autumn/Winter is better because there is a lot more sales.

gaggle64
03-05-2006, 03:58 PM
Only a total imbecile would release a console in the middle of the summer unless they were deliberately trying to keep sales down. A winter release still makes the most sense for a launch.

perhaps a good tactic to ease demand? why have HUGE demand if you can't capitalise on it?

also.. slight mistake, surely second "home" should read "work"?

There is not one business on earth that doesn't want as much demand as possible. And the initial point of this thread is that Nintendo are stockpiling the Wiis (ha) in order to meet a worldwide demand.

And yeh you're right it was actually meant to read "they're either on holiday or outside in the sunshine". It's this heat.

it depends how confident they are about the product. maybe they'll release in Australia first (Winter over there...).

now that WOULD be a surprise (very pleasant for the Australians - perhaps not so much for the americans.

they did release GC around May over here didn't they? I know I bought my cube in June, kinda an impulse buy, and played it at night/rainy days

I reckon it's Sept launch for Japan, Oct America & Nov/Dec for Europe.

Makes me wish the Summer wasn't so long now :P

Konfucius
03-05-2006, 05:45 PM
It would be really cool if they launch in summer, however I also doubt it since they hinted for an autumn/winter release.
On the one hand, it makes sense to start stockpiling them if they want to launch worldwide simulatenously but on the other hand what will they do if Sony delays the PS3 again to make it even more powerful (or as powerful as they claim for reasonable size and price) or get a Blu Ray drive finally. Then Nintendo has a lot of Wiis that will lie around for some time and could be produced much cheaper of improved if they waited longer.

As much as I'd love that to be true, I'm kinda hoping its fake... Because I can't afford a Wii right now!!! I've had no time to save! And I'd feel horrible if it came out in summer and I'd have no cash to buy it!!! DEAR GOD I NEED A JOB THIS SECOND!!! AHHHHH!!!!!

It make sense really, this way they can ensure that there are absolutely no shortages at launch and that they can get the system out the minute all the software is ready. I think we could see it in September over in Japan/The US - I'm still anticipating an October release here though.

ShadowV7

I think they will release it when they have 20 odd games ready.I think they're waiting for the software.

All those saying about the usual summer drought, you seem to be forgetting that Nintendo are not aiming this system at the normal videogame market. Can you think of a better way to set yourself apart than by establishing a year round market? I'm sure publishers will welcome the opportunity to have even sales throughout the year, rather than just all lumped in at Winter/Xmas and battling to make sales against your better advertised competitor.

Absolutely agree.

The Wii isn't even like a normal console anyway! It's totally unique! I believe it would sell all year round anyway! It can't even be put in the catergory with PS3 and 360 anymore as it's totally different.

I think Nintendo can release it when-ever, if some consumers still choose to buy the console near Christmas, it's up to them!

Overall Nintendo could release the Wii in August and still have a successful launch.

Sadly i don't think it's going to happen....purely because Nintendo have already said Thanks-giving for USA and the launch games aren't 100% complete...yet. :hehe:

mike-zim

Nintendo said no latter than thanksgiving. so it could be before. if it got released tommorrow i would still go out and buy it. the target audience would be able to afford to buy it tommorrow aswell. lets not forget the aim here. it is not your usual gamers that nintendo are looking for it is the mums dads uncle grandmothers etc. they have the money to afford it.

Totally agree! It's for 'everyone' isn't it? Not just for the children who have to wait till Christmas to get it. Oh and it's not going to be expensive either (well hopefully)

Now if only the launch-games were finished....or are they?

All will be revealed in 5 days time! :hehe:

Dude...
Midway announced an October launch for one of their Wii games!

Or perhaps they're doing the N64 only the other way arround: games released WAAAY before the console, with power that's nothing to brag about...
