how well can you type?

i usually use a few fingers at the mo but im doing a typing tutor to learn to touch type. the programme is called kaz and you learn pretty quickly.

^^^^^^to type that tho it took me ages cos i was touch typing not finger typing as im doing now!

so what is your current status?

I type like a badass, and I can get about 90 words per minute or so, and of course, it's all touch typing, I don't even need to see the keyboard to be able to type (and I mean don't even need to see, I could have it under the desk out of sight and still type just the same).

I am also anal about spelling and grammar.

I can type pretty quickly, I never loo kat the the keyboard, but I dont think I use all my fingers, they definitely aren't onthe correct keys. I can't do it when I'm thinking about it though, like now :heh:

I type quite fast, not quite touch typing, and i normaly need to be glancing at the key board for some reason, even though i know were every key is by instinct. I type with my two index fingers. My spelling and grammer are anouther matter.

Meh I'm alright, used to type faster, but, I haven't been typing much recently so I have slowed. XD I also make random typos all the time.... I do touch type, unless I start doing the same typo over and over until I get pissed and type it out one letter at a time. XD

I use two fingers to type, and I understand a typing class tutor would probably whip me if I did so under their watchful gaze. I'm alright at typing, but nothing special. Haven't had to look at the keyboard for a while.

the last time i remember looking at the keyboard is like four years ago. i use all my ten fingers, everyone on his correct position. i'm quite fast, around 500 characters per minute. i even can type numbers and symbols without looking at the keyboard ...[/Show Off Mode]

Im alright at typing, not very fast but i make less typos then what i used to. As for touch typing I can type like that for short peroois then i have to look at the keyboard :P Guess I;ll have to practise more :P

I am pretty good, can touch type, do about 70 words a minute, but sometimes I will have an off day and just be one letter out all the time, thats so annoying.

I don't know exactly how fast I type, but I've been told that I look quite funny when I do so - I rarely use my left hand, and I suppose I am pretty quick with my right. People have described my hand as looking like a spider dancing around the keyboard. I do tend to look at the keyboard quite a lot of the time, though, even though I can still type quite well just looking at the screen.

I have about the same kind of keyboard; very comfortable, though having to move back to a "normal" one sometimes can be kind of annoying then. ='D

Anyway, I kinda learned how to touch type when I was like, ten or eleven or something, though I didn't really finish the course. As soon as they moved on to the numbers and special stuff, I got bored of the class and just kinda dropped out. Also, we used these typing machines, no computers. I was tired of dragging that thing along with me. =P
But yeah, I can touch type with all my fingers on the right keys and stuff and I don't have to look at my keyboard anymore (except for numbers sometimes, cause I use the numpad for that, yay; shouldn't have dropped out of those classes X3 ). But yeah, I can type pretty fast because of that, unless I'm tired or distracted, like right now. And my keyboard is configured kinda wrong, cause some of the special keys aren't where they're supposed to be, but I figured out where they are and now I can find them like I can find any other normal key, wheee.

I can type well without looking at the keyboard and I also type quite fast, however I only use my two index fingers. It's how I've been typing for the past six years, I can't get used to typing any other way.

I can type pretty fast. Though, I usually look at the keyboard, and then the screen every split second. If you notice any errors in spelling it's because I'm tired, which happens a lot to me. Fumbling all the time. Nobody knows why I can type so fast, but my sister is just brilliant at it, she types essays in a minute or two.

I have to touch type with my job. I find it pretty easy to be honest. I rarely look at the keyboard but sometimes i need to when i cant remember where some symbols are.

Last time i took the test my fastest and most accurate was about 75wpm. But the average day at work I probably do about 50-60wpm which is a comfortable pace for me.

I type fast, and without looking down... the only bit I still have trouble with is the numbers and symbols along the top row.

I tried taking a couple of typing tests, but they're annoying. The one at http://www.typingtest.com/ gives you an exact speed depending on the minute you do the test for, yet seems to throw particularly difficult paragraphs at you. The one at www.powertyping.com/typing_test/typing_test.shtml seems better, but if you make a mistake it gets very confusing, as they don't expect you to use backspace, but rather just to continue at the correct key (which is really unnatural for me).

Regardless my typing speed seems to be about 80-85.... The fastest I can get on the second test is 92 (once I start making mistakes though, I can't seem to stop x.x)

I took one of the tests that Shorty gave, with a stupidly hard paragraph and it ended up as about 40 wpm after discarding the 10 words I got wrong. :heh:
I don't touch type at all, which is really bad of me, and I generally only use a couple of fingers. You lot put me to shame. I'll work on it.

I did a couple of those tests, I got 84WPM on Shorty's and 76WPM on Eevils. I should really use the shift key for caps rather than capslock but I can't help it anymore.

I can touch type okay, I been typing for most of my life but I never really tried touch typing until recently, and its not something I do a lot.

I prefer to look at the keyboard, just so I can type really fast and be sure what keys i'm going to hit. I don't type my fastest often, mainly in ICT classes when i've thought of a whole scentance I sometimes just speed up without thinking much about it.

I touch type using dvorak and rarely look down, because the keys are all in the wrong places anyway.

I tried the test twice, first time my GWPM was 73 and my NWPM was 72, second my GWPM was 103 and my NWMP was 101.
