what are you favourite past and current shows/programs
My top 5 in no particular order
Mock Of The Week
I find the people who do the mocking of other people are funny.
Have I got News for you
I like the funny captions.
Wife Swap
Seeing the wifes at the end have ago at each other about the other husband who they stayed with.
Crystal Maze
I enjoyed it when it was on and seeing all the different puzzles they had to do.
QI
Learning interesting fact and hearing some of the funny answers that some of celebs come out with
you can describe how you like them but you dont have to.

this is my list of favorite tv shows atm:
1) Richard hammonds 5'o clock show. Its good because I just lie on my bed and watch it after a hard day at school.
2)me or the dog. I think watching those dogs are funny and the triainer looks like a right weirdo when she does that "AHAH!" thing to the dogs.
3) The Simpsons. They are always funny to watch, no matter how many times ive seen them, I don't watch it every night like I used to but I still watch it every so often.
4) The OC. Although corny at times its a cool show and great to watch, new episodes on e4! Yay
5) Lost, its a great drama and always confusing and thats why its so fun.

Veronica Mars
Come on, was anyone not expecting it?
Nip/Tuck
Dirty, shocking, controversial and entertaining enough to surpass the craziness.
Desperate Housewives
Light-hearted fluff, but in a good way. Gotta love those housewives.
Buffy/Ange/Fireflyl
Again, was anyone not expecting me to include it? (Lumped all three together so I can get more choices in)
Frasier
Pure comedy goodness.
Other notable inclusions:
Wonderfalls - killed too early, the plans for season two and three were relaly interesting
Friends - well you gotta ain't ya?
Ghost in the Shell: SAC - very complex but fun all the same
Sex and the City - a classic show that'll never get old
Becker - bitter, hateful and yet still amusing

24
American Dad
Arrested Development
Doctor Who
Family Guy
Futurama
Rome
Scrubs (season 5 is great so far!)
Simpsons
Top Gear
And I like stuff like Dexters Lab too >_>
There's a TV show which is based around the 24 hours of the life of a guy/government agency, where each episode is one hour long in real-time. There are 24 episodes. Season 5 is due to start tomorrow in the US, I think that season will have 24 episodes as well.
I can't remember the name, I think it's called "The Time Show" or something.
Other than that, i'm also a fan of Lost, The Sopranos and The Simpsons. There's countless others, but those are the big 4.

Well, this is a nice companion thread to the favourite movies. Let's see what we have here. I'll just throw in some of the stuff I've enjoyed past and present.
24
What can I say that hasn't already been widely broadcast about this incredible and addictive masterpiece? Great characters and fantastic pacing and twists meld to create what is arguably one of the best television shows you will ever experience. A must see, and for going so cheap over at Play.com you can't be without.
And with a new season starting tomorrow in the states, what better time to hop on the Bauer bandwagon for hour after hour of POWER?
The X-Files
Like 24, this one came and created quite an impact. I first started watching around season three, and I was hooked. Some amazing one-shot monster-of-the-week adventures, continual tasters of a titanic government/alien conspiracy, not to mention Mulder and Scully. I've recently gotten right back into this gem, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who has yet to experience the realm of extreme possibilities.
Lost
So greatly immersed was I, that I started to download the American episodes to continue learning more and more about this insane island our heroes have found themselves marooned on. It's a long time until season 2 kicks off here, so better get your Jordan on with this one guys.
Quantum Leap
What a premise. Scientist Sam Beckett tests his time travel experiment on himself and naturally it goes wrong, and he's sent to replace people in the past, righting wrongs in order to move on whilst guided by a holographic representation of Al, the Quantum Leap Project Observer, from the future. There are some great characters that Sam "leaps" into, including some famous faces and a few a little too close to Sam and Al's past and present for comfort. An especially touching final episode rounded off what was a great adventure through time. Oh boy.
Bottom
Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson at their most immature, perverse and downright hilarious. I can't remember laughing so hard at a comedy as when I first caught the chess episode of this. Might not be to everyone's tastes, but certainly something to look out for if it ever gets a regular timeslot on TV again. I was fortunate enough to see the most recent Bottom Live show in my town, an experience I won't ever be forgetting.
I guess I'll post more if I think of them, there are an awful lot.

Smallville, I just like Superman and a modern retelling is refreshing, when they get it right.
CSI, I always liked this but never really paid much attention. I would always miss the beginning and then not really follow the rest. Since I've had TiVo however, I've really gotten into it, following character growth and underlying story arcs makes it even more intriguing, and somehow their constantly repeated formula never gets old.
Viva La Bam. 100 times funnier than Jackass. That guy is a genius.
24, I really wish I could be bothered to watch all of this. I've never seen any of season 2, I've seen half of season three and about 2/3 of season 1 five times. If I could sit down with the box sets, this would be nearer the top of my list. The brand new season starts here on Sunday and I'll be watching.
Lost, I really loved the first half of the first season. But... now I can't stand it. It's nonsense and the slowest moving show I've ever seen. However it's on here because the start of the show was great, and I needed another one to make 5.

At the moment, there's only Desperate Housewives (just so funny, wheee), seeing as there's pretty much nothing else on tv (or I don't watch it).
Watched Lost, now have to wait for the second season. Watched some of Rome, but missed a couple of episodes; not sure yet if I'll try to watch the rest of it.
Wish I could still see The X-Files and Futurama, but they don't show that on tv here anymore I think. Yeah... Don't really have anything else; I'm sad.

I suppose it's a slightly nerdy choice, but one of my favourite TV programs is Mind Games on BBC 4. The series ended yesterday, and I only saw 2 episodes (one by the free teleport replay service on telewest, one by watching it properly).
It's good.

CSI - The Original, Miami is good and I cant get into New York. Maybe its the fact its set in LA and it looks bloody amazing, and is there anything Grissom doesn't know?
Lost - Watched it all, and its been totally fantastic shame it had to end on another cliffhanger.
See How They Run - Children's drama produced by the BBC and a TV company in Australia, fantastic to watch and totally gripping throughout.

Hmmmm i dunno how many i got that i actually watch on tv but they are on tv so they can count.
Simpsons just has to be done who didn't love this show in it's prime?
Futurama the spiritual successor of the simpsons (even though the simpsons is still running), great show with bender stealing the show for me funniest robot around without despute
Family Guy you probably saw this coming i mean this show is great stewie just makes me piss myself as does the dog! sometimes the flashbacks drag on but it just has to be endured i guess
Invasion just started like 2 weeks ago looks like another great show, i can't wait to see more of these alien bastards and what they actually are!
Lost this was going to be without a doubt on here it's too good a show for me, the way season 1 ended was amazing and the teaser for season 2 nearly made me orgasm it looks like it'll really kick off soon and from my mates who have watched season 2 they say it gets even better so i'm wettin my pants in anticipation! oh and i love kate!
Worthy mentions go to

My top 5 are...
The Simpsons
A lot of people say Family Guy is better, but I disagree. The Simpsons has (or had) that well thought out factor that makes it hilarious. Plus, Hans Moleman is the greatest character to grace TV screens.
The Comedy Store/ Jongerlurs Unleashed
Basically half an hour of stand-up at some comedy clubs in London, but man I laugh so hard watching these programs. If you have Sky or something you should watch either sometime
Without a Trace
Does anyone watch this? It seems like I'm the only one in the whole country who does. Basically, in each ep. someone goes missing, and this team try and find them. It is probably the most exciting show on television, because you start to feel for the missing characters, through flashbacks. It's also not all predictable, as there's a bunch of twists per episode. Good watch
Family Guy
I started watching this before it even became popular. I bought a DVD of it once because I had a lot of money that day, and I pissed myself laughing. Ah the days.
Catchphrase
It was just the best freaking quiz ever. They should bring it back on, and with Roy Walker, and not that dickhead who did it in it's last couple of years.
Honourable mentions:
Never Mind the Buzzcocks
Lost
Desperate Housewives
The Frank Skinner Show (Guilty Pleasure)
and My Name is Earl (only a couple of eps. so far, but looks promising.)

Scrubs Scrubs is just amazing, it combines funny with emotion and caps it off with a nice ole moral at the end. Has a nice way of having a long running story throughout each episode (like Carla Turk relationship, or JD + Elliot) and weaving it with fresh each show plot (the patients that are in the hospital)
Lost
Gripping stuff, only started watching this, (on Episode 6) and I just can't stop watching it.
Family Guy
Just so funny and inventive, I keep thinking it will get old like the Simpsons but it just doesn't.

The O.C.
LOST
Friends
ITV Formula 1
Top Gear
1. Star Trek: Enterprise
In my opinion, the best Star Trek ever, but fans of the original series had to ruin it and complain loads. Unfortunately lasted only 4 seasons.
2. Futurama
A million times more interesting and funier than the Simpsons, (mainly as i am a Sci-Fi Fan). Lasted for 4 seasons before fox stupidly cancelled it. Just my luck. My favourite TV shows seem to lst for 4 seasons.
3,4,5 - Star Trek, Voyager, DS9 and The Next Generation, unknown order.
Others worth mentioning:
Dr Who
Battlestar Galactica
Platty
15-01-2006, 04:04 PM
hmmm my top five of the past and present in no order really:
- Gillette soccer saturday - 3pm on saturday's wouldnt be the same without it
- Simpsons/futurama & south park
- Saved by the Bell - used to love the original one's when i was kid...screech ^_^
- Buffy - watched all the season's but have yet to collect the DVD's.
- Teachers - Loved this show, shame they only did 4 series! i have all these on DVD
of course there are lots more i used to watch like knight rider, A team etc, all those late 80's early 90's programmes were most excellent.

"The 4400" has been described as "The X-Files for a new generation." Not seen it myself (bought it, gonna start watching either that or Arrested Development tonight) but its only £7.50 on cd-wow.
And Platty buy Buffy :P Or buy Firefly cause its only £18 then watch Serenity. Just read an intended storyline for later in season one which is so dark but so good. Damn Fox!

Prepare yourself for a long list.
Scrubs - comedy genius.
Peep Show - in my opinion a British version of Scrubs. Except filthier and with funnier characters. "So your getting married out of embaressment?" and the one where Jez was in the Jury... so funny.
Lost - brilliant. But I can't find episode 10! I keep on getting old episodes which I DON'T want.
Friends - great in its hay day. Dated but for light cominc relief its great.
Nip/Tuck - filthy, funny, enough random story lines to keep it going. With enough drama to suffice.
Pokemon - from 1st series to the current 8th is it? I grew up with them and until they kill off Ash I wanna know what happens to him.
My Name Is Earl - a new one to me, but I really like it so far.
The OC - light girlygirly drama. But still good enough to make the list. Aaah Summer...
Smallville - gotta love that superman. Loved "The new adventures" and love this one.
Desperate Housewives - reminds me off the smurfs (its on the list too). Theres hot smurf (gabriel) ginger but hot smuf (bree) Still-Louis-Lane-in-my-head smurf (Louis Lane) and ugly smurf (ugly one)
Neighbours - hooked since I was a wee nipper. What can I say :S
Gillette soccer saturday - been on here before but incredibly funny.
Bo Selecta (only series 1) - pure genius at the time. Ruined it when canned laughter was added. "I'm not gonna break america i'm gonna break majorca". Ruined Craig David's career which is never a bad thing.
Buffy - only first... 4 series? Turned poor after that. Willow, a lesbian? HA. Xander? Not after Buffy? HA. Spike, good? HA.
Saved By the bell - loved it when i was young
Smurfs - classic communism. Little blue men running around defeating an evil wizard? Hell not even Lost could think up something so ludicrous.
Ashley
15-01-2006, 10:06 PM
Bah Willow was always meant to a lesbian. "Look at me, im so skanky. And I think im kinda gay." - See, foreshadowing!
Curb your entuhsiasm is better which also hasn't been mentioned tbf
i find curb waaay too disturing. larry david just seems like such an unpleasant man in it. i need to rewatch it though.

I missed them because I wasn't really interested, I think I'll download them.
I also believe downloading TV shows is legal... I'm not certain but I think since the show does not lose out it doesn't matter. Plus big enough fans to download episodes usually watch them on TV and buy the DVD boxset too.

I see your point Shorty but its a grey area. Sure if people in Britain download episodes then American networks aren't loosing out, but if people in America do it then the networks are loosing out; less viewers, less advertising and thus less money and all that. So I think its just safe if we live in blissful ignorance and not mention it again ;)

I can't believe I missed out Supernatural - co-starring Jensen Ackles who played a large part in Season 4 of Smallville, this became one of my favourite shows very quickly. For those of you who know nothing about it, it's a story of two brothers who travel accross country vaguely in search of their father, and fighting spirits, demons and ghosts etc.. The show almost let itself down a couple of times by blatantly ripping off a few movies - for example there's a scene where a girl in a dirty white robe with long black messy hair over her face crawls jerkily out of a mirror, it almost looks like they stole actual footage from "The Ring" and super-imposed it onto their own show. However I heard somewhere that this is done intentionally as a tribute... so I let them off.
I think the show's coming to England soon, it's genuinely scary in places for a TV show, and well written. I love the overall style too, they use a very specific colour pallette constantly, faded browns, khakis and blacks with high contrast lighting, its very indie looking.

Just seen an advert for Supernatural actually, was one of those artsy adverts that have no clips or anything; think Lost's original ad.
Anyway it was good, but the music choice was bad. I understand they were trying to go for alt/rock/gothish to go with the show but it didn't work.

O yea i also like "King of the Hill". It's got clever humour, and the animation style is pretty good. Dale is the best character in there by far, he's jus so funny with his conspiracies and stuff lol

Ah... you said 'ITV' so I assumed it was just 1, looking at 2 it seems it is on, and therefore I have set it to record

Well I watched SuperNatural, and thought it was pretty crap. It started off promising but by the end of it I couldn't see myself carrying watching it in future.

I think Supernatural gets a little better after the Pilot tbh. It's not always a scare-fest though so don't look to it for horror, you might end up disappointed, look to it for mystery, suspense and action :) The problem with the Pilot was that it moved from a season opener, starting off the leading arc, into a monster-of-the-week style episode, which was odd.
I've also been watching American Dad lately. It's like Family Guy but even more controversial. Hilarious :)

PEDOGEDDEN! Its Chris Morris of Brass Eye fame. I thought IT crowd was pretty poor really, nevermind.
Ah well done good sir gaggle. It was banned by tabloids which ran pictures of a 15 year old girls half naked on one page and condemned Brass Eye on the other. Oh also please people watch Brass Eye rather than that cheap imitation around at the mo.

mine are in no particular order:
Qi- stephen fry - wot a legend, i never watched a program where i found out as much useless facts
The Simpsons- although the series and recent episodes seem to be taking a nosedive, the classics will always remain my favourite episodes of any program. I think that its slowly runnig out of laughs now, although not exactly huge in the 1st place. I watch for the joy of seeing the simpson unviverse and the huge array of characters.
Top Gear- absolute class is all i can say, even non car fans can find something here to amuse themselves. Top Gear is so unliek any other car program, it has a great cast, and they attempt things that little boys could olny dream off, The top gear winter olmpics , now dont get me started on that.
Family guy- alot funnier than the simpsons with someone hilarious episodes

The Top Gear Winter Olympics is probably the funniest I've seen on TV this year, I was laughing all the way through it. The Mini was the best part :D

I still stick by Veronica Mars, rewatching season two from the start and picking up on little things that may be hints and such. Bought my friend the first season on DVD for his birthday too, share the love.
Anyway I got Arrested Development season one in the January sales and quickly watched through it and got season two for my birthday and watched that in about a week then ran through season three. Mostly because I didn't want to be spoiled about the end but it is moreish, great programming.

 i 2nd that. My whole family sat down and watched it,which is unusual having a program that suits all our tastes. Watching james may and hammond fall down the ski slope! Btw does anyone know when the next series starts? ::shrug:
