"Quick News: After never making it over to the West due to the Nintendo 64 dying out at the time, Treasure's classic shooting title Sin & Punishment is set to make a comeback on a so far unannounced platform. Certainly this is great news as the chances of a Nintendo DS port just increased significantly.

Stay tuned to C3 for further updates... "

This is GREAT news!!
For anyone who doesn't know Sin and Punishment was a very highly accliamed N64 shooter from Treasure (Ikaruga) that never got a european release. Here are some screens of the N64 original...

I think it's extremely likely that the unannounced platform for this title (port or new game) will be the DS.
- Thrid party games are not yet currently being announced for Rev
- Threasure are currently working on Gunstar Future Heroes for the GBA, so that's a GBA game already in the works,
- Treasure are currently working on Bleach DS with Sega i believe,

The DS is yet to have a Treasure only game, and with then working on Bleach DS with Sega they will be getting to know the console.

Can't wait to hear more!!

I remember reading somewhere else that they were thinking about re-releasing this game again.

Not sure if it is gonna be DS as I remember in an Edge interview that Treasure is interested in the PSP for shmups and the DS for...other things.

Would be excellent it if did come out, though. I've never played it, so I can't comment, but on a shmup-centric forum someone was saying how S&P could work well with the Rev controller. Either way, I'll be happy to see it on a Nintendo platform once more, then I can get the change to play it. :]

This is great news, although I doubt it will be a port. More a new game using the old engine. I never played it but it sounded and looked fantastic.

Sweet I've got the original for my N64 and it's a very very fun shooter. I hope it's a new game though, they can also throw in the original as a unlockable for people who haven't played it.

....they can also throw in the original as a unlockable for people who haven't played it.

I doubt that would be possible tbh; think about cart size, and also about making money; why give it for free when you can do a nintendo and release it for cash.

:O!

This was one of the games that i was dying to get for the N64. I am hoping to get a DS later this year, so this would be a must for me. :)

Was it even released in Europe? I've played it on my friends US N64 and it was incredibly fun. I loved every moment.

It pushed the N64 quite abit in terms of explosions so we'll see if they make a successful port to DS! Can't wait!

Just to clarify; that's cubed3.com saying it could be a DS port in the part you quoted and not me (not that it matters).

I think i agree with them though that it would probably be a port, but with perhaps a drop in graphics, but with some new DS specific features;
maybe you could use the the touch screen to move a cross-hair/where you are shooting on the top screen!
Europe never got the game, so many people would like to play the original, including me!!

Even if it isn't a DS game i'm happy about this news! I only ever got to play it on Nemu, hope it gets a western release this time.
