I was under the impression that there was no voice chat. There's that Nintendo Letter Box (which doesn't have proper voice chat), but we don't even know if that's even usable when playing a game.

Just to further note on RedShell's post, the community is set at 150cc races and all items enabled. You can't change the settings for the community once it is created so feel free to make another with a different set of rules or gameplay mode!

I don't believe that. First for a lot of that race on Daisy Cruiser and then on the final bend I get hit with a blue shell and then a green shell and end up dead last.

Ah, so you're Ben.

Lots of great games. My favourite moment was when I was trying out Bowser with the biggest wheels/kart (he was massive) and we were on DK Jungle: I was around 6th/7th, got a load of slipstream boost just before the final glider jump and somehow just glided way over everyone.

And nobody mention that I got lapped on SNES Rainbow Road.

I had a quick go online earlier with Cube, Peeps and a 4th guy I can't remember sorry (don't think he used his forum name), dispite finishing last I had a good laugh.

Would have stayed on longer but I wanted to go progress Zelda a bit more.

Haven't actually played much on this yet... aside from the above mentioned GP online (which was my first online race) I only finished one GP on 50cc when I first played the game. Every other time I tried playing they baby needed watching :heh:

I was so going to come first in that race but a blue shell hit me to the edge of the track and I slid off :laughing:

It was a bit frustrating for me as I always seemed to be getting the worse end of the items but when we got down to 3 or 4 players I did a lot better. Even when I lose I'm still having a lot of fun with it so I'll be in this thread a lot from now on!

Once a GP has started I don't think you can join. Someone by the name of 'Player' did join in the middle of one of our GP's last night, but it looked like an error of some sorts. Basically the community lobby works as a meeting place, so like last night we have to agree on a time here, and then join the community then and there. If you're on at a random time and notice that there are a couple of people playing in the community, you can enter the lobby, and depending on your patience wait for the in-progess GP to finish, and then you should all be able to play together in the following GP.

It can hold 100,000 players at a time, but only up to 8 players in each group. So say if we had 12 N-E players saying that they were going to be playing tonight at 8:00pm, the first 8 to join the community would be playing in one GP and the remaining 4 would play in another. Of course, we have the option to start a GP whenever we wish so can have any number of players participating in a GP.

I had a real LOL moment yesterday. When me a Peeps were racing he was ahead of me and I had a banana. I thought I could hit him with it from a distance, so a threw it but it bounced off the start of a tunnel and landed right at me. Then on the next lap I tried it again with a bomb, but this time it bounced off a banner and hit me! :cry: Classic stuff. :)

Well, that was fun! I always manage to screw it up at the last second, and I can't even blame the dastardly blue shells. I managed to end up last on both GP's. Must try harder. :p

I don't really mind, though. In contrast to MKWii, I feel the best racers win. Sure, the items still shake things up, but not in such an unfair amount as with MKWii. It feels fun to lose, because it feels fair. Though I've heard stories that winning is actually not too shabby either. Might try that one day...

My exams are coming up and I'm unsure when my MK7 will arrive, probably within the coming 2 weeks.

Yes. I get that most of the time.

I cannot understand my problems. They're intermittent now - I can play for a few races, then I'm booted. I never see anyone in the friends list, but can see people in the Communities lobby. I get connection errors. All that sounds like server stuff but no one else suffer as much - if at all.

However, I never disconnect in a two player match. I can race over 3G in Sainsburys car park, but not at home via landline or 3G (there is nothing that could cause interference at home, for the record).

Its all bonkers.

Managed a couple of races just now in Communities, with Creeper and 'Player'. Player was booted before race one; while Creaper disconnected after 3 races (did you disconnect, Creaper or did I show as disconnecting?)

@WelshGamer Yay - I am connected! Should we part company mid race, let me know if its you or I that disconnects. For the love of God - disconnected and now "please wait"

On one race I was wondering why RedShell had slowed down only to realise that a bomb was sitting in the tunnel. Yes, it was too late. :DThat was such a funny moment. :grin: I saw the bomb fly over my head and into the tunnel, then I was like "shit! I can't make that" so slammed on the brakes... 1 second later, everyone piles in, bomb explodes!

I give up trying. I either can't connect or get into a group with only a few people. I had high hopes for the community system but it is a bit broken. You should be able to join mid game, even if you have to watch like you do when playing strangers. It should also put you in a group until that group is full, not start a fresh one.

I've not had any connection issues myself but you should definitely be able to pick a group to join if there are more than one and you should be able to join mid-game.

No problems in the community last night, but I've been getting quite a few errors tonight, screen loading for 5 minutes or so before starting a game and empty groups. Maybe we should stick to joining others in worldwide GPs....

Did anyone manage to play a GP with 6 or more players then? I played one 4 player GP which was great and one head to head GP in the last hour. Good thing 'Taken' was on the telly to entertain me inbetween :heh:

i've only had a few communication errors after 4mins+, but thats it.

also I wanted to point something out, i was able to join other online GP's at any point, once I entered the GP in the 2nd race and another in the last race, yet in the communities this can't be done right? im saying this because when other forum members were having an online match, i tried to join but nothing would happen for 4-7 mins and then i receive an error.

there were times when i was in a group of 2 or 3 and there were another group in the the community that had around 4 members+, so i wanted to join that game, so i left the current group entered the community again and this time im in a group on my own!? it doesnt really make sense, infact in community you should be able to have a better online experience than facing randoms online.

In terms of hooking up with people I think we need to decide on who is "host" so everyone can join that person. There were a few times yesterday when I could join numerous games and didn't know which person to join.

thats how it is, unless people are using their mii, the only other to know who they are is at the result screen after a race, however if more than one person uses the same character then were back to square one.

Hero-of-Time i think thats a good idea, we should agree on one person to host the GP and then wait for the rest to join.

If you click on the bottom screen too change the full map the names are there.

Not had any problems with communities, but ot used it much, it makes sense, but you SHOULD be able to watch like normal online, as then how do you know when the room is open? Also wish there were more stats, I want to see wins and losses with the whole group, why can't we see a list of all the players in the group and see where you rank etc.

I like communities because I prefer doing the gp format, I'm sure they'll sort the connection issues!

Oh god, I had some right disasters during those 3 cups we all played! When we played Bowsers Castle, Jesus Christ. First time I've came last in a race and by quite a while too, fell off the stage more times than I would like to admit!

Nah, I only have RedShell and darksnowman added but can connect to everyone. I tend to just go through the recently played list and look to see if a game is open.

It's always satisfying when you hit someone with a Green Shell. You were all clustered together so I was thinking "well it has to hit someone".

I remember one part on the Dino level (racing with Welshy, Mokong, etc) where I tanookied someone with three green shells. I was then hit by one of the shells spinning around him. When I recovered I was instantly hit by another green shell spinning around him. Then someone bumped into me and I fell off the track. When I spawned a bullet bill went into me.

No, never. It's about 15 seconds in on the right hand side just before you go through a cave/arch/tunnel, if you boost into the water (not sure if you need a boost) Lakitu picks you up and places you at the start of section 3 as its above you on the track map. Try it out, I saw it on gonintendo.com

With regards to the league, I just thought of one problem: There's no standard lobby system.

I have one solution which may work:

- Everyone will need to be on each other's friend lists.
- Everyone creates a community with standard rules, but doesn't share the code with anyone.
- The host starts a match on their community, everyone else joins via the Friend List.

Lostmario has already made a community for the League, so long as everyone taking part adds that community then the 8 taking part in that weeks league just need to join at the correct time and nobody is allowed to use the community unless it is a league night and they are part of the 8 players competing

Everyone creates a community with standard rules, but doesn't share the code with anyone.Nice idea, but it wouldn't work because of StreetPass. Not only do you trade Miis/Ghost data, but any communities that you've joined or created get shared too.

In fact, even random people that you've raced online could still join via the recent opponents list. Pretty sure that's why we've occasionally seen some unfamiliar players in the N-E community.

Anyway, I managed to connect my 3DS again today, but then the weirdest thing happened when I went to play this game online. I jumped into worldwide and then the character select screen, where I was presented with a truly horrific sight...

My Mii didn't have a head!!!! :eek:

Where the head should have been was a little cone shaped point. :wtf: I was like "what the hell?" So I switched to other characters, but everything was fine, go back to my Mii... still no head. :shakehead

Then the selection timer starts kicking in, so I quickly picked Mario (no way am I playing with a headless Mii :heh:). I figured that would be the end of the crazy stuff, but no...
Then when the Mii bubbles appeared around the globe, my one was empty! (apart from some glitchy looking pixels here and there) And my Mii on the globe was a clone of the next Mii (a Japanese player), seriously bizarre. :woops:

I logged off after that race, then back in and luckily my Mii was back to normal.
