View Full Version : Help! GBA American Cartridge Won't Play ON DS?!

I bought Ms Pac Man on ebay and it turned up, and it's an American copy. Which, comparing to my EU copy of pokemon, is slightly bigger than an EU cartridge, and thus gets stuck in my DS (had to try hard to get it out). Also tried it on GBA SP which it does not play on either, but at least it does not get stuck.

Any suggestions as to what to do? I've read up and there's claims PAL NDS can play foreign GBA games but for some reason this doesn't seem to be the case.

Sounds to me like you've received a bootleg. I have some american cartridges in my collection and they are exactly the same size and compatible with all GBA game compatible systems.

Having played around with a few GBA flash carts myself, they are slightly bigger and tougher to fit into the GB slot on all the systems I've used them on. I would recommend that you contact Ebay about this straight away because even if it was advertised as a boot-leg cartridge, it's still illegal.

Yeah, definitely sounds like a non-legit cart. All GBA games work on any region console that takes GBA games. Not only a bootleg, but a bad bootleg that don't even work!!

Ninty Cat,

I'm not sure where you are from but check out amazon.co.uk and they currently have' Ms. Pac-Man - Maze Madness' for the GBA, second hand very cheaply.

Well the seller is UK, and looking at the cartridge, comparing to guides on fakes, it all seems legit. So not sure what to do...contact ebay seller and just say it doesn't work?

I would contact the seller straight away and tell them what's happened. The fact that you have tried it on two systems (GBA and DS) does say there is something wrong with the cartridge.

Legit games have "Nintendo" written inside the cartridge, on the side with metal bars or whatever they are. Fake games don't have it.

The games should be the same size though, should they not? Any issues with your DS? Game's faulty/non-functional anyway so it still needs sorting!

I have a bootleg copy of Pokemon Ruby Japanese version marked Ninfendo. Always makes me laugh.
