During the Digital Interactive Entertainment Conference held today in Japan, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto, Konami's Hideo Kojima and Robin Walker of Valve had a small roundtable discussion with the Nintendo Revolution controller garnering some attention.
Miyamoto was first to comment on the idealogy behind the design of the Revolution's controller. "People's idea that video games were American grade school kids with their face pressed up against the TV made us want to design the new controller," Miyamoto said. "Boring things will become interesting. But, I can't say any more."
Following, the question of "what kind of game would you like to design for the Revolution?" was addressed to Valve's Robin Walker, to which he responded, "There's a couple I could think of, but I'm not really sure, because I haven't seen the console."
Hideo Kojima was then presented with the same question, but Miyamoto quickly provided an answer of his own, saying, "He’d like to design a game that makes him popular with girls." Kojima laughed and responded to the posed question, stating, "I haven't decided."
Miyamoto quickly admitted that his comment was a joke and asked Kojima, "What would you really like to design?" As before, the Metal Gear creator simply responded with "I can’t really say," still laughing.
Stay tuned to Revolution Report for more developer commentary, witty or otherwise.
When I heard about the the little convo between Kojima and Miyamoto I just laughed. Obviously they must really have a good relationship. Oh by the way the rumors about Kojima working on a classic Nintendo franchise(Kid Icarus) still hasn't been eleiminated. But believe me Kojima has decided on what he is doing.
