Those little things in life that seldom get discussed. We all like requited love, wining on scratch cards and a spiffy new outfit but the little things? The day to day but still enjoyable things?

The inside of a house at night only illuminated by outside sources (the moon, street lights etc)
The feeling of getting into a cold bed and warming up
Being nudged by a pet's head when it wants attention
Sprawling out on the floor after a bath and air drying

Hopefully you get the idea. Personal things that you like/enjoy that often go unmentioned. And perhaps just thinking of them will brighten your day :)

- hearing birds sing
- seeing wild animals (like rabbits in the field, or deer, or herons or woodpeckers)
- getting an unexpected compliment from someone, especially if they don't do it often
- the smell of rain on the streets, mmm
- having clouds pass over and sunbeams shooting through them and lighting up spots on the field behind the house

Twilight. I didn't think I'd like it but I do so that surprised me but if we're on about the littlest things in life, then it has to be getting into a freezing cold bed in winter and warming up. I have no idea why but it makes me smile. I also like looking out of my window and looking up at the night sky when it's full of stars and a full moon just wondering about the future.

Awesome thread :) Off the top of my head:

-The sound of rain when you're trying to sleep;
-The aroma of the sea;
-A clear, starry sky (preferably with a full moon);
-The smell of dew in the morning (I usually only truly appreciate it when I go camping, but it's still amazing);
-Petting a purring cat in your lap;
-Bubble wrap :heh:

Now I feel like watching Amélie again...

Walking through the fields near my parents home at sunset/twilight, there's something so magical about watching the golden circle of the sun fade over the hills, to be replaced by the gentle flickering glow of the lights in the farms and cottages that dot the winding lanes filled with wild grass and the soft sound of birds and chirping insects.

It's something China can never hope to replicate, so I miss it dearly.

i love that. when it's been scorching hot for a few days, and we get a sudden downpour. that smell of rain on bone try streets is lovely.

the smell of cut grass is nice too... again another summer smell that you miss during the winter months.

i love it when it's frosty in a morning or snowy and the crunch noise your footsteps make on the frost / snow.

i love it when it's hammering down with rain outside and you've got to run from your car into your house, when you do your like... 'aahh home' and can just dry off and relax.

i love the sound of thunder, especially when it's one of them hot muggy summer nights with a random thunder storm. their especially spectacular in Mauritius (I love that place <3 )

i love the smell of my dads curry when i go see my parents, he'll never lose that art of curry cooking ;)

i love it when your in bed and you just feel the bottom of the bed sorta fold in and then cat steps climbing up the bed to your chest area to get a nice warm hug from your cat (doesnt happen anymore now i've moved out... i want a cat :( )

i love it that if i wake myself up in the night from a particular bad dream if i have one when i wake up my girlfriend is led next to me and i can just relax.

i love it in winter nights when you've got the curtains drawn shut by like 5pm as it's pitch black outside, and all we've got on in the living room is the fire and a little lamp, and we're snug on the sofa watching anything.. it's just a nice cosy feeling.

i love the buzz of wrapping presents for christmas and get more excited about them opening the presents i've got them then wanting to open any that i recieve.

yeah i'm a soppy 23 year old!

D'aww :D.

- Rain against windows when you're sleeping, last night was awesome for instance as it rained quite a bit.
- Driving when its sunny, windows down, sunglasses on, music up
- The smell of baking, it's such a lovely smell
- A cold glass against your forehead when its warm.

I have so so many. But I'll keep a lid on it to keep the thread going.

-the rejuvenating magic of rain
-the blue skies filled with wandering stripes of white clouds
-plants and trees basically radiating life in all their green leafy joyfulness
-the overpowering presence and calm of vast spaces in nature
-the silence and freshness of early mornings
-the incredible detail of everything. Just pick up any (un)common item and observe...
-the wonderful / awful mystery of life with its myriad unanswered questions, like "what, why, when, how..."Sheer absurdity this life...

Totally forgot:
-the striking display of red, orange and yellow in Autumn, leaves blazing with colour as they paint the streets and trees with all their festive glory
-the crispness of Autumn's first frosts
-the lovely darkness and light of December, the gentle glow of Christmas lights and the all-embracing snow
-the February sun + snow = a world of sparkly whiteness
-the first moments in Spring, when the streets get dry and the Sun starts warming...

Better stop now, this list would go on forever...

This, but in the same vain:
- When it's Autumn and fallen leaves are covering the street. The crunchy sound they make when you step on them is great. I often end up walking all funny just to crunch as many leaves as possible. =D

- When your hands are covered in a certain type of glue, and you let it dry and afterwards you can peel it off. Just love doing that and reminds me of being a kid. =)

My two at the moment,

Dancing when no one is looking. Thise means both in private and in more crowded places when no one is looking.

And, singing while cycling around London - usually with my headphones blaring around my neck.

And then normally I love getting up early because I want to and not because I have to.

Also, my big time favorite, sitting in absolute silence. Or siting in silence with someone.

Haha Jay, you are bizarre. But at least you're honest.

- Singing lots and lots, I enjoy singing thoroughly all the time, I don't particularly care that I sing quite badly

Love this thread :hehe:

As Daft said, dancing when no one is looking.

Feet hanging off the end of the bed yet still being warm.

Remembering what other well known film that actor appeared in.

Being able to talk to people in the smoke area after having to shout my lungs out whilst in the club.

An advert on Spotify that's actually quite useful.

Hell, the rare useful adverts in general.

Sounds. Leaves in the wind, the rain at night, waves crashing, a fire crackling.

Reading a review of a record I like that not only also rates it, but puts exactly what I feel about it into words I could not.

- Hammocks - Yes you read that right. Hammocks. Love them. I know so many people who hate them but personally, if my room wasn't so big I'd replace my bed with a hammock (although my futon is pretty comfy so I don't know about that). Get a pillow in there and a bit of swing going on and they're brilliant. Even more so when drunk :laughing:

I have a couple:

Sitting inside lovely and warm in winter, next to a window through which you can see the horrible freezing rain. It makes me appreciate being warm so much :D

Similar to some others... doing some kind of extreme excercise (playing lots of sport/going for a long run etc) until your body is genuinely tired, then having a shower and sitting/lying on your bed and letting your muscles rest. Feels fantastic!

Warm rain. When I was much younger and had a paper round I was cycling round my village and it started raining really, really hard. As in, torrential. But the rain was warm. Soon enough I was soaked all the way to my skin, all my clothes were drenched. But the rain was warm and it felt so amazing, like I was standing in a shower in full clothes.

And leading on from that - jumping into swimming pools fully clothed/getting wet fully clothed and not caring. :)

Lifting your arms after lifting heavy weights and the feeling like they're floating.

Throwing rubbish accross the room and it landing in the bin is also awesome, but less unlikely.

And talking of sandwiching food: Oreos. Tip - put them in the fridge for a while first as it makes separating them easier.

I've been meaning to post in this, but been delaying it due to being lazy.

- I love the smell of petrol. Take me to a petrol station. Could spend all day there.

- Spending time in the shower, just letting the hot water fall onto my head or body. I sometimes spend lots of time thinking in there, its my comfort place. :heh:

- When I'm at the gym, and I feel "the burn" when I'm exercising. I feel pumped with energy, and it can feel quite euphoric.

- Drinking a nice cooold bottle of coke or a glass of cider.

- Cooking with Ine. Especially the anticipation if something is in the oven, or when we're whisking something and we take it in turns.

- Getting into bed and feeling tired. Feels very satisfying, as if you've worked hard or achieved something that day.

- I "love" intense smells. Wether it be petrol, terrible cheeses or rotting/decomposing flesh... it's not that I get pleasure from them, but they are just so indescribably alive. It's like snapping from a coma when exposed to those foul/strong odours!

- When I'm involved with someone, I've often discovered I like the taste of their sweat... so maybe I like the taste of sweat in general, I dunno. Sweaty sex ftw, anyway.

Don't be bitter. You just wish that you were that girl.

Well, you're not. ARRRRIGHT!

There's something nice about it, though. Not the sweat of eeeeeeeeveryone. But, the sweat of someone you're attracted to/with. Maybe its to do with pheromones. I don't think the same can be said for me. When I went to play squash with Ine a while back, my clothes smelled of Jim-sex afterwards.

If we're going for the really weird likes, I have one. It probably sounds a bit gross, but now you can't say I didn't warn you.

Anyway, I like to peel off the rind (or whatever you call it) of a sore when it has healed completely. There's just something satisfying about removing it after it has itched for so long and revealing the soft, sensitive skin underneath. The same concept applies to removal of hard layers of skin on one's feet. Feels really good, but I have no idea why.

Scab-picking was something I was going to mention earlier, but figured it was a universal thing.

@Dannyboy: I probably enjoy that too much. I've reopened wounds a couple of times because of that.

-I enjoy cleaning my toes. As in, using my hands to take away any remnants of dust, dried skin, etc. I like doing this, though that probably has to do with my dislike of socks;

-Having a tiny, but bothersome piece of food between my teeth, and getting it out, after a grueling battle (using only my tongue and fingers). A meaningless sense of accomplishment, yes, but so satisfying.

Aha! I knew I couldn't be the only one, I have a titanium bar on both rows of my teeth (after having braces they put them on to stop my teeth from going back to their original positions, given my teeth were incredibly wonky after I fell as a child) and its incredibly difficult to get food that's stuck out when there's no toothbrush nearby!

Just in general when he has sex he likes to lick, and in general when you have sex you get sweaty.

You're not slightly phased by this amount of personal information that is simply ping-ponged over teh internet?

And yes! I would say that this is a different instance to those which you title -- those are in threads where I can be primed before I encounter such sordid tentacles of love, while here I feel like I have stumbled into a fairly private matter. Maybe I should stop the shrewdness and start saying oh god, yes, PLEASE tell me about all the naked sex you have, and your oversized thighs and his strangely weedy arms, or teh way he holds me as if I'm a fruit basked, or how I kiss her with far too much tongue, and how I actually don't like sex but I like looking at pictures of small penises because it makes me feel bigger, and how small c-- Too far. Sorry.

Point; I don't really care what you say, or where you say it, I just thought I had read some 'tension' between the two of you in some posts a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd stir it up, because, even though I met Jim twice -- and went to his house!! -- I feel like we are still very anonymous and I can get away with being a cockface. Should I urge him to do so? Should I go for a jog before we meet?" staccato of thoughts.

And I wonder what stuff is considered private. Like, we know you can't/don't orgasm, and that flink likes sweat, yet you say that no secrets have been given away. It's mad! This interactive soap-opera of a forum is fantastic!

As for the orgasm stuff, that was posted on here ages ago (by me). So meh, don't consider that a "secret" on here anymore. Still is in real life though. Let me clarify about the sweat... I don't get off on licking someone after they've been running about or whatever... it's just that when you're actually having sex with someone, you do start to get sweaty, and when you kiss her shoulders or neck or whatever the fuck you want, there's just this great salty taste that lingers over their entire being. I don't like it when it's stale smelly sweat. I like that fresh sweat, and I think Jim's in the same bag, right?

I don't think we're people to be jealous of. She lives in Belgium and I currently live in Wales. Wales! Nothing to be jealous of, neither is the long distance nature of our relationship. Also, it's not really a fetish. Its pretty much like OxyWaste described. Intimate sweat is different to say, been going for a jog and now your feet smell of wotsits sweat. Its the intimate sweat that I like, but then deep down I think everyone likes that? Its the satisfying kind. I made you sweat, this rocks, kinda thing.

I think you are overthinking it a bit, Seven. Relax! It's not like we've posted Forum Erotica complete with pictures of each other dressed in clothes normally associated with the opposite sex and with all of our available holes covered in smooth Peanut Butter (sunpat, mmm).
