I think it all sounds great and I can’t wait to try it out, I’ve never played games online before  so the fact that it’s been made really easy to set up is cool too.

It sucks that you can't talk while playing though. I was looking forward to chats in between races.

Nice bit of advertising there. It is true what it's saying though, on-line gaming is still inaccessible to the majority.

I like the fact that you can choose either to play solely against mates or you can choose to play anyone in the world.

Great stuff nintendo!!

I suppose that no voice com is to avoid the huge number of people swearing, insulting mothers or the ones with burning desires of sex with you. It also helps with the lag problem. This is looking good and it's great that they advertise this. Can't wait for Mario Kart!!

Like you can in almost every online game. Nothing new there...

Hasn't this been posted somewhere else here before? I remember saying something else about it.

We'd better be able to use the built-in mic. If you can't talk during/in between games it would get a bit boring. Talking to your opponents is the best part of Halo 2. We spend hours just talking... sometimes....

nothing stopping people from talking on msn for instance

Not everyone will want to sit at their computer whilst playing and then you can't talk during games. Also, typing just isn't the same as speaking. Voice-chat is the 21st century. IM'ing isn't.

Actually, i'm not a big fan of talking while playing games. For one thing, i always get annoyed when playing games when someone would come into the room and talk. And, i've had experiences on online games where users just talk in txt speak and are just generally annoying. I'd hate to see what they would talk like if they typed like that. o_O

That leaflet said they weren't going to, but that doesn't mean someone else wont. I hope they do, headsets are awesome for gaming. Means no one else can hear what you're talking about :)

Fierce_link, most games (well, Halo can anyway) let you put your rooms onto invite only, so only your friends can join it meaning you don't get any annoying American kids with squeaky voices joining.

As long as you can do that on Mario Kart, then all is well then. It doesn't really bother me if i can use a microphone to talk or not, but i can see that some people like the idea of it. Oh god, and i hope that there are not so called "hacks" or "cheats" like being able to make people float or become invincible or something. They ruin the games, imo.

I hope not, cheaters have ruined Halo. The DS seems like it could be good target for hacks, seeing as all the games are stored on cartridges (what are they actually called?) and you can download things wirelessly for it...

Maybe that's where "invite only" really could help. You could just let your friends join, or people who you think are relatively safe. That's about all you can do really. Oh, and kicking them. :lmao:

Can't wait for this to come! I also would like to see a head set released, even if it is so can laugh at some 12 year old Americans attempt at an insult when I whoop his arse in Mario Kart!

So whats wrong with america? you won't be wooping them very soon because we get it before you, so you can diss them AFTER they win.
America Has a HUGE influance on what we do, so I don't appreciate you're "dissing" them

Didn't say there was anything wrong with America in general (well George W but I wont go into that), just little American kids trying to insult you = not good! And besides you're in Canada, I thought you guys hated the Americans (or is it they hate you?)

Has Mario Kart DS's release date been brought forward in America then? Because, as I understood it, Europe is getting the game on the 11th of November and America was getting it on the 14th.

IGN still have it down for the 14th:

Mario Kart DS (http://ds.ign.com/objects/682/682877.html)

I hope we get it before anyway as it’s not like it happens very often. :heh:

Sorry, but almost all the American youths I've spoken to have squeaky voices. I speak to them a lot.

IM'ing isn't I can see that it may have been better using the mic on ds, But u can talk on msn too, if your computer hasnt got a mic already you can buy then cheaply and they simply slot in your computer, i have conversations with my friends using the microphone. All that aside I think Mario kart ds is going to be really good. I can't wait!

Woohoo you get a game first! (I seriously am happy for you!) How old are these american kids and what do you mean by squeaky? Because I'm pretty sure I talk to them more than you and if my understanding is correct, none of them have squeky voices, also This: http://ds.ign.com/articles/637/637723p1.html

I LOVE chatting to my oponents. Online without it will just be like clever AI.. still better than nothing.
