Could this be a possible name for wii 2?
http://www.siliconera.com/2009/12/14/what-is-the-nintendo-zii/
what do you think?

I think they're trying to prevent another Chintendo Vii.

The text does have a point. It would be way too late to protect it against this sort of stuff, but would they really go for another thing with 'ii' in it. This way, the casual market will still be familiar with it. Could that be their plan?

My instinct is, yes, it's the Wii 2. As Fused King says, it's quite late to just be protection against rip-offs. Plus, existing laws would stop the rip-offs, it's probably more that they're sold in areas where Nintendo can't enforce Japanese law.

You can see the logo from a mile off- 2ii - kind of thing
I'm not so sure. You could call it 'Gibbons' and just add a strapline 'from the makers of Wii' and it'll sell.
But codenames are alwys being banded about; Starcube, anyone?

That's more of a Sony thing to do. It's not really Nintendo's style.

Engadget.com - Zii,Bii,Oii,Cii and Yii (http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/15/nintendo-trademarks-zii-over-in-japan-creative-is-like-zaywh/)
We've done a bit more digging, and it looks as if this here filing may simply be a renewal of a 2006 trademark request. Moreover, we've found Nintendo trademarks in Japan for Cii, Bii, Oii and Yii, so it seems the company may just be on some sort of rampage in order to cover its tracks in one form or another.
A bit to late of Nintendo to stop others making gadgets that sound like Wii because of the Creative Zii and www.Zii.com.

Zii = ick. The two ii's in Wii are good enough to simulate a 2.
Just call it the revolution...

I wasn't really thinking when when I made my first post. Just ignore it. Trademarking names like this in general doesn't mean much. They're just getting an idea someone had trademarked in case they want to use it.

Zii is Italian for uncles. Maybe its a game about Mario and Luigi looking after Baby Mario and Baby Luigi :p
Or it could be Zelda Wii compounded.
Or it could be a foiler.

I dunno, I think a sequel to Donkey Bollocks 64 would be worthy of a launch game. :heh:
How many of Nintendo's patents or trademarks actually materialise into commercial products or such? They trademark a lot of stuff like this to just cover their backs. It could be like Emasher says, to prevent a "rip-off" or dodgey product being released that is similar to the Wii.

The Nintendo Oii.
Nintendo have learnt that you can call the console anything and it will still sell, so my picks for the next console are:
Nintendo Together
Nintendo All4One
Nintendo FamiVidGamCon
or my personal fave:
'The Nintendo'
I'll give you that one seeing as its Christmas... and it was bollocks. :)
But it's by far the best Donkey Kong game.
I vote Nintendo Peter for the next name.

Nintendo Sphere.

I actually think that one is kinda good though.
All joking aside, Zii could very well be some kind of logo for Zelda Wii (like the film Independence Day became known informally as ID4). They might already have some logos prepared.

Wii HD. I called it.
Emasher
16-12-2009, 05:51 PM
I expect they'll use one of these:
Wii HD
Wii 2
Wiii
or
Revolution
Personally, I'd prefer that last one.
Oh, and I also predict that it will come out on November 18, 2012 in North America.

I very much doubt they'll call it 'Revolution', if they didn't give the first Wii that name then why would they give the, essentially, updated version (so not at all revolutionary) name?
Plus this whole Wii thing is the start of a brand, the name is so well known that I doubt they'd change it, I'm thinking it'll just be called Wii HD.

Okay it seem people are ignoring my post and hoping for this as a sign for HD.

just reading on the GT forum and came across this what someone else has writen not me anyway here it is...
''Go to zii.com,zii is a hyper nano stem cell cpu of handling 1080p multimedia and 3d graphics very impressive.
it is a multimedia chip and can connect to multple devices and is very low energy efficient, and also uses new linux 2.4 i think.
small enough to be repackaged in the wii casing\bluray.
it can also knock out GLFOPS.
Zii is a trade mark as well meaning nintendo is using zii hyper nano cpu.
All so it is very cheap to make so ninty will be pleased.
I wonder who's making the graphics chip.''
might be correct or just rubbish
what do you think?

I kinda miss all the speculations, the mock ups, the false prophets and the funny gifs. Everyday there was something new to think and talk about.

Well, for the first few months. But then, everybody claimed to be the messiah, a Nintendo Insider, a Secret Government Agent, or God himself. It got a bit tiresome with all of the talk about the specs, photo-realistic graphics and the visor stuff.
It was very exciting around E3 time, and whenever an event rolled around. But, it was also torture, haha. There are no fans like Nintendo fans, they hype up everything. :D

That, is just ludicrous. I could tear apart most of what was speculated but I'll just say this. A brand new super powerful CPU is going to be very very expensive, being a particularly small one(as implied by "Hyper Nano") will be even more costly as....I'm just gonna quit right there.
Shadow Mario....just...please just don't say you might have thought it was correct.

I don't think the fact that Creative owns the Trademark elsewhere has anything to do with Nintendo owning it in Japan. Nintendo's possible use for "Zii" probably has nothing to do with StemCell CPUs.

That's the big question. Something Nintendo should probably confirm when they first tease the console.
