In today's gift from the German USK rating system it has revealed that the Phoenix Wright might be on its way to WiiWare.
If you're out of the loop, Phoenix Wright is a fantastic point and click adventure game that has previously been on the GBA and Nintendo DS. The German USK rating system now suggests that the original game is also coming to the Wii.
Last year in Japan the Phoenix Wright series was ported to the PC, so the assets in higher resolution are available. When a game appears on a rating system without a prior announcement it's usually a digital release, but this could still be some crazy retail release. The way the rating is written suggests it will also be the full game, and not in episodic chunks.
If this is WiiWare it'll be Capcom's first foray into the service. We expect a complete announcement soon.

Hmm, yet another reason to get myself a wii. As long as it is Phoenix and not Apollo I'll be happy with anything, remake, port....just not apollo lol.

Good news, I don't want to pay £30+ for a preowned copy of the first game on DS!

I hope the visuals will get an update, only reason I would consider getting the games.
EDIT: And no such luck, it's just getting upscaled

this is actually a very good decision. Makes you think about a phoenix wright game made specifically for the wii.

So, Phoenix Wright is said to be hitting WiiWare in Europe tonight. I don't own any of the PW titles and have only played a demo for Apollo Justice via Capcoms website. Would you imagine that the games will lose a lot with being ported to WiiWare? Or do you even think PW would be better suited to being played on a home console rather than on a portable?
D_Pr0d has already recommended it to me but any other opinions and thoughts are welcome.

From what I've seen it dosnt lose anything from the DS/GBA games. The PW games are almost graphics novels when it comes down to it and the gameplay just involves you selecting the right evidence from a menu when cross examining a witness. Only Now your pointing you cursor at items on the menu instead of tapping the screen with a stylus, so not a huge difference really.
Personally I enjoyed the PW games like reading a book before I went to bed, so playing it on the DS had that advantage of being able to close it like a book when I got tired lol

That's not true. From NintendoLife's review (http://wiiware.nintendolife.com/reviews/2010/01/phoenix_wright_ace_attorney):
"While the story is the same as found in the DS release, the game lacks any motion controls or any other upgrade for Wii users with one exception: instead of a using the IR pointer in the Wii Remote, the game menus are instead navigated entirely with the D-Pad. This is no small issue due to the fact that the playable part of the game consists of nothing more than selecting options from a menu."
If that's the case, the WiiWare version has a serious disadvantage to the DS version: spending hours playing the game scrolling through texts and items (and searching for clues) is bound to be a bit tedious.
Seriously, what were they thinking when they decided not to use the Wii remote as a pointer?

wow my mistake then, I thought with this being called a "Wiiware" game that at the very least there would be some Wiimote control (other then the optional Objection thing).
All that said, I still don't feel its going to make that big of a difference. In the DS version, scrolling through text was done by tapping the bottom screen and now you're tapping a button instead? searching for clues is the only thing I can see being tedius.

That depends on on a lot of things. I personally tend to almost prefer handheld gaming myself, So I would prefer the portable option.
it seems that it could have been a better port though. You don't control the wiimote cursor in the investigation scenes for instance which is odd.. you use the d-pad.
I don't think it really matters, although I haven't played it on the big screen but It's a great game none the less :)

I just want to say that this is a very lazy port. But Im still glad that I can experience this kind of games, now Im stuck in one case though.
