Patrick Wolf... I liked the track, but as a person, he's still a cunt :heh: from what I've seen of him anyway.
Hands Down just didn't do anything for me... I get the sentiment behind it all but I just don't care for it.

Hands Down love it :) gooooood memories.
Hands Down was bloody awful. Why anyone would want "that" voice singing in your band is beyond me. It's that dime-a-dozen "emotional" whiney american man's voice. Just makes me switch off. The song itself was passable, but that voice/singer brought it way down. Sure it'll appeal to people here though.
Patrick Wolf, my nomination. A brilliant artist, and a great, catchy, energetic song. I chose this song as it's one of the most immediate and enjoyable (that isn't Magic Position, which is pretty rubbish imo), but not as well known.

^ You and I have a very different definition of energetic then because 'Tristan' is anything but energetic.
Neither song was particularly great. Never listened to Patrick Wolf before and honestly, based on that, I wouldn't bother to check anything else out. I can see what he's attempted to do with the song but it did absolutely nothing. Likewise, that Dashboard Confessional song did nothing either. Got the sentiment but the actual song wasn't great. I know there are much better DC songs than that and if it had been anything like 'Vindicated' or 'Stolen' then it would have been a no brainer.
I'll begrudgingly vote Patrick Wolf but he doesn't deserve it based on that song and neither does 'Hands Down'. I really don't think either should 'grace' the next round.

Hands Down has no soul. / It does, but it's smothered by the generic crapness of the vocals. The lyrics are fine, and I like the "simple" sound (ie. acoustic guitar and drums).
Tristan is so stunning. I like how it's energetically dark. As though a gang of Weaviles have descended.
"You speak of love, but I've never heard of her" (A stunning line).
So yeah, Patrick Woolf.

Couldn't stand either of those songs. But I'll just vote Patrick Wolf and be done with it.

Patrick Wolf for me too I think. The DC song is okay, but it's not very great either, and the vocals do get a bit annoying over time. So yeah, Patrick Wolf gets my vote.

Jesus fuck, that Dashboard song is horrific on the ears. The intro music sounded alright, and I think "hmm, never heard this before, sounds ok so far." Then, the words, I just didn't like them. It's definitely not for me.
I can't say I'm a fan of Tristan at all either. The Magic Position is a personal favourite of mine by him, as it remembers me of a nice time I had in a club with a good friend. Tristan was ok, but I think I agree with Ganepark, I just didn't feel the energy.
Still, out of the two, I prefer The Wolf. By quite some margin, I think.

Didn't like either song but I'll vote for the poor mans Depeche Mode rather the utter dross whiny American drige.
That's a vote for Patrick Wolf

Dashboard because it reminds me of my college/Woolworths days (although coincidentally Tristan was the name of one of my college lecturers) but Patrick Wolf's song was so completely forgettable for me. Perhaps unfair in a way anyway because at a push I could have probably recited Hands Down before but good memories and all that (even if yes, his voice is a bit meh in that song).

Hmmm, tough call. I think I'm going to buck the trend and pitch in for Dashboard Confessional, as although the lyrics were fairly poor they at least made me smile with their sweet romantic naivity.
I've thought about and i'm actually going to vote Hands Down.
I quite liked both intros, but as Tristan went on it just lost me. I'm not saying the Dashboard song was way better (as neither really appealed to me), but i have a tolerance for the dashboard guy's voice (after hearing my brother play his songs when i was younger) and at least there was some energy to it.

To be fair, it would be a lie to say Tristan isn't an energetic song. When you listen to the opening ukulele bit / drumbeat / chorus. One of the few songs people were dancing to properly when I saw him live.
I did like the intro.. it just nose-dived after that.

Both not bad, both nothing special. Patrik Wolfe I guess
I found the Hands Down kind of boring in the sense that I've never heard that particular song before, but feel I have. I.e it didn't sound very inspired.
Tristan wasn't great either, but he sort of had his own style I felt. As much as he repels me, I'm voting for Patrick.
I slightly prefer Patrik Wolfe, but I'm not really a fan of either.

I can't stand Wolf(e?) because of his onstage antics. It makes me hate his music as a result. Therefore, I give this vote to Hands Down. Also, the song makes me lol quite hard.
Wolf(e?)
Wolf. As in "Grrrrr! Bark!". Eating girls in red capes.
Plus; I hate the "I hate an artist's music because they're cunts/they don't smile/etc." But each to their own. I can't fathom doing that. I still llike Kanye West's music, and he's the biggest cunt ever.

Oh, no, normally I couldn't care less about it. La Roux? Very addictive music, quite a fan, but she's dissed many other bands for no reason and there's the whole no smiling thing with her. And yeah, Kanye's a cunt but makes addictive music. But something about this bell-end strikes me. It actually affects his music, if I went to a gig and he had a temper tantrum because of the sound not being right I'd be pissed off and want my money back. He's clearly not got any respect for the fans, and thus his music in my eyes.
And that's why I can't listen to his music without hating it.

Ah okay, fair enough ^_^
Well to reiterate my point I've made elsewhere; La Roux's (as an example) music is fine but I think I'd be more willing to give it a try if she didn't seem like a sour-faced misery guts. Its as if she doesn't care about people listening to her music. Part of being a successful (read: known) music artist is whoring yourself out a little and she just seems like she wants the joys of everyone hearing her music without being approachable. But still, Bulletproof doesn't leave my head all day if it gets in there :heh:
And I love Kanye because he is a cunt and admits to it. What can I say, I like an out and proud cunt ::shrug:
In any case, considering I never watch TV or read that many magazines, I've seen La Roux smile a few times. And read a sole interview in heat magazine where she laughs bla blah.
Also;
But something about this bell-end strikes me. It actually affects his music, if I went to a gig and he had a temper tantrum because of the sound not being right I'd be pissed off and want my money back. He's clearly not got any respect for the fans, and thus his music in my eyes.

I have no idea how one equates having a temper tantrum at the sound being off/not being allowed to complete the setlist/whatever it was with having no respect for his fans or his own music...
I'm not saying I condone how stupid and cuntish he can come across by doing stupid shit like that, but it's not like he does it ALL the time. Anyway. Sounds like I'm justifying it. I'm not, but it's like...his music is still great and compelx and musically interesting/I enjoy it immensely. He doesn't write songs about his cuntish behaviour. Most people do things that are completely idiotic and cuntish behind closed doors, he's just a massive drama queen and so brings it pointlessly on stage too (which I don't like), but because he's famous, people instantly have an opinion on it, and when they get around to listening to his music after reading how much of a dick he's been twice on stage, they'll be judging based on blah blah.
Some of greatest artists were madmen, but you can seperate the art from the man. (Unless it's Tracey Emin. :woops:)
I have no idea what I've even said, as I can't be arsed reading it back. In short, I hate that it seems like only I can actually see art seperate from the person.
It's like the whole Amy Winehouse debacle. I couldn't have given less of a shit that she was a fugly, filthy, drug-abusing slag, the music she'd made was enoyable and showed talent. Patrick Wolf is a drama queen cunt occasionally. Big deal. Artists are human, and display human failings too.
But yeah. He has more time for his fans than many people I've seen live, as welll as being a great performer, going into the crowd, around the venue, chatting while in between songs etc etc. Very amiable and funny.
Back to Winehouse (this is like stream of conciousness writing), I saw her live in 2007, the NIGHT after the widely reported show she was booed off stage by a crowd after she started singing drunkenly or something. Yet my show was pitch-perfect, she was on top form. But that's not reported in the media. Patrick Wolf being a massive unnacceptable cunt to people is reported, him being a brilliant live performer isn't...
I'll stop now. I can't just keep rattling out inconsequential points.
