View Full Version : What aspect of life do you like the leeeeast?

Yesterday, I popped along to one of the UWIC campuses at Cardiff, as I was joining a teaching agency there. As my brother goes to UWIC, he was quite good at finding the place, which is good seeing as I'm bad with directions.
So, met up with the female there, and she was quite nice. Took all my documents, photocopied them, paid me a few compliments with regards to my CV, experience and work history, and then she conducted a short interview.
It was pretty laid back. Short, nice and simple questions which didn't catch me off guard. One of the questions had me thinking though, and it was one which I thought about quite a fair abit after.
"What aspect of teaching do you like the least?"
"Hmm...what aspect of teaching do I like the least?...yeeeah, that's a good question. *nodding and thinking* Probably the feeling of hitting a wall and not knowing how to get past that. *nods and thinks some more* Although that's also one part of teaching that I like a lot, too. Overcoming the obstacles. Yeeeeah."
But then, eet had me thinking, sometimes the least nicest bits in life are also tied in with the best things. You might use a bad experience to then help towards making good decisions in the future, that sorta thing.
So, my question to you: Are there any aspects of life that you like the least? Maybe it's an abstract thing, or maybe the thing that you like the least is something that takes a particular form, like money, or something else in particular. It may seem trivial, like Hip Hop Music, but it might mean a lot to you.
The thing that I like the least is when I hit a wall and can't seem to improve with something. One example is with my grades at uni, I kept getting 56s or 58s, and just couldn't do better. In the gym, sometimes there are days where you don't feel like you're improving there, or with my guitar playing. It can seem de-motivating. But then, the best days are where you overcome these obstacles. That's what I find.
Over to jou.

Potential, or at least, trying to realise that potential. Nothing worse than being told, "you have potential, you just aren't there yet" and then getting the feeling you have wasted your chances. That word is the bane of my life.

Pffft. Not always messy and not always particularly potent. Plus you get a massive sense of achievement and relief if you bust a huge dukie.

Sleep and pooing are awesome. Nothing better that taking a whopping great turd. The one that feels like your shitting a road cone. "IT KEEPS GETTING WIDER! HAVE MERCY!" Sometimes I weep a little after. Then have a nap.
The aspect of life I hate at the moment is work. It's so god damn boring. I might become like those kids on that living off mum program. "Mummy, buy me things!"

Waking up in the morning and having exactly the same routine from 7 to 8:25 (always becomes 8:40 or 8:39 if I'm lucky) every single morning without fail.
All that changes are the silly BBC headlines. Even when I walk to work, I pass by 3 Chinese mothers with their kids all in exactly the same locations each day..blimey!! they are always in the same order too.
I dislike Groundhog Day.

Haha, I think there are only a select few who will have first hand experience on that. But, as a guy, I feel for you females and your bleeding. :(
Also, I understand that sleep is being mentioned in this thread. It's crazy that we need sleep, as it feels like a waste of time. But, in many ways, I quite like it. Being able to sleep means you can start a new day on a clean slate, and you feel refreshed and revitalised for it.

The flip side of ladybleeding is getting struck in the happy sack. It feels like someone has kicked your very soul. At least it only lasts a few minutes, although it feels like a brief window into the depths of hell.

Work and the fact that it perpetually eats up anywhere from 1/3 to 1/2 of your day and will continue to do so for years and years and years until your so old that you actually enjoy going to work.
Politics, NASCAR, and grocery shopping also make the short list

haha, i can actually compare that to period pain!
I'm not going to make out like women have life harder because of it etc (because im sure men have many problems as well) but having a period just makes life that little bit harder/more annoying! (esp when its bad already!)
I have actually been so ill with mine that I had to be sent home from work. :sad: Thankfully those times are well in the past ^^;
edit: sleep is awesome. It helps me forget yesterday and move on feeling regenerated! Its the only real cure for migraines too!

I would complain about having to get up early for work like many others but considering there are soooo many people who don't even have job it would seem a bit inconsiderate!

Screw that I am still going to complain about getting up early. Despite what time I go to bed its a massive effort for me to get up each morning(I think the lack of windows in my room is not a great help :P).
Cider can be made at any other time of day. However I still have to get up early because everyone else is at work at those hours. Its madness I tell yee.

The following aspects of my life i dislike
Being single and when i do get myself a female, they cheat on me or something like that.
Unemployed, pretty shite. Get made redundant, get screwed out of £500 and banned from going back into former employment to get the money.

Also living on a stupid island.
Mainland Britain is just a bigger, stupider island if that makes you feel better.
My whinge list:
-Being single does indeed suck. Womenz can't handle the goaf.
-My real life friends letting me down again. Was supposed to go to a gig tonight, naturally half bitched out and the other half left their attending status to "maybe" then made other plans anyway. Cunts.
-Beefeaters keep stealing my tinfoil hat.
-The rain. It makes me moist. Not a happy moist.
-Being a chubby fucker.
-The Paparazzi won't leave me alone.
-Working nights means I can't see my "friends".
-Delusions of grandeur.
The fact that now school is over, I keep seeing the fact that any hope and drive for the supposed goals in the future are really non-existent, and that there isn't any part of life where I'll ever be...satsfied. My Terrible Fear Of Dying will stil be there in 30 years. What will I do then?
I'm going off to Art School, I have very little drive to work hard generally (obviously could be worse) and basicall have career prospects in my head/lined-up.
I hate how I look. I need to lose a bit of weight (not greatly, I think I'm about right for my height-weight ratio, but even so, I feel extremely self-concious and ugly). I have annoying skin. Not awful, but annoying. I also think I'm constantly wracked with terrible diseases/cancers/illneses. But I'm too scared to ever go to doctors about my fears since I don't think I could face bing told I wil die. (I doubt I actually have anything particularly wrong with me realy, but were it to happen)
SO I'll stop before I list off everything I hate about myself, but yeah, me,myself and I is the thing I hate most about life.
The fact life isn't what you think/want/hope/dream. I have a love of fantasy worlds and places and wish I could just live in them.

Having just about no luck in the romantic/sexual love department (not to be confused with friendly love) - that often manages to bring me down. Yet, sometimes I can see beyond that and realise that I'm probably more annoyed at the fact that I care so much about girlfriends (or, rather, the lack thereof). Why can't I just not be bothered at the moment and then be extra happy when* I finally find a girl?
*This is a hopeful "when"!

I'd have to disagree with the first part, somewhat. I'd say there are just as many, if not more people who are happy rather than depressed or sad. I just thought it would be interesting to see what people liked the least about their life. Like I mentioned in the first post, sometimes it could also be linked in with the good things in their life. A lot of the time these things can be changed, too.

Yeah I don't understand all the negative grumpy gusses in this thread. How I interpretted Flinky's initial question is not "what is depressing about your life" but rather "whats that little thing that bugs you but is part of life"...if that makes sense. For instance; good things in life don't come easy. That kind of notion. Its annoying that I can't just...know Italian. Bing bang bosh. But I am working my way through and its rewarding it clicking into place. So that I suppose, the fact that things require effort. But as is life.
Plus being single and sleeping is awesome. Quit your collective bellyaching :p
Dannyboy-the-Dane

Perhaps Flinky was actually aiming for "pet peeves" of a sort - smaller things that annoy you?
Still, his example and the general description in the first post suggests that it's something a little deeper.
I don't think too many people in here are depressed or unhappy with their lives - bar maybe a few. (Cheer up, Paj. We're here for you, and we love you. :)) I think the main problem is that far too many threads pop up at the moment with depressing topics. I mean, sure, I whine about my love problems, but apart from that, I love my life. More often than not, I can forget about my lack of romance and enjoy the great life that I have. :)

It could just be that people feel it's more open to talk about their feelings here than other places? Maybe, that's one possibility. Although, we do have some insanely happy people here, too. A bit toooo happy. Give us some please, Coolness.

Well, not little things as such, although that can work, too.
Also, if you think Italian is bad, try learning Dutch. Of all the languages the female had to speak, it had to be THAT one. It's basically English mixed with German, with added Klingon.

It could be pet peeves or deeper things. Everyone's life is different, so people value things differently. I mean, Grunchy picked the train times, so his aspects may be different to Paj's, pour example.
I'm not really asking for people to commit mass suicide in this thread, mind. :heh: It's just where you talk about the aspect of life you like the least. It could be something concrete, like the job that you do, or it could be something more abstract, like the thing that I said in my first post.

The aspect of life that I dislike least is time. I don't have enough of it to do all of the things that I want to do in a day. I get up, go to work, come home, hang with the kids, put them to bed, then the time has pretty much run out. I want to watch films, watch TV eps, play videogames, surf the internet, read books, play guitar, have time with the wife, listen to music. All this to fit in a two hour slot between kids in bed and me going to bed. There's just not enough time. :(

Shaving is a waste of my time and always seems to grow after A) sex, B) Sleep C) eating copious amounts of meat.
Shame then that I keep living my life in the order of C/A/B. Damn stubble.

I used to have a problem with shaving, especially since my skin was pretty crap. This one time, I shaved my face and went into School for placement, and one of the kids asked me if I had been attacked by a dog. When I looked at my face in the mirror, I had awful cuts everywhere I had been shaving. It was also incredibly sore. It was a huge problem for me.
Then, for some reason, my skin just seemed to get better, and shaving wasn't so much of a chore. Now I see it as a kind of fun morning activity. It's almost like knowing you're going to have a treat, or sex, because sex can be a treat. I shave my face in the morning and think "yeeeah, today is going to be good." It feels so cleeean.
Also, first day stubble isn't too bad. I now have developed an appreciation for that, and second day stubble too...kinda. I could never grow a beard, but embrace shaving. It can be as fun as you make it.

I'm subjected more to the shaving lately what with axing the beard and taschio, though tbh it's like 5 minutes of work and simple as. I manage to not cut myself. I never understand how some people seem to imply they take forever to shave, though I think they(and here I'm really talking just about one guy I know) just think it makes them more manly to go on about beards. Kind of like a 14year old getting his first tash signs.
Buuuut...I think I have to agree with Odwin! Time! I seem perpetually busy, with no time to do everything I want, or I have so many things to do and not enough time I end up not deciding and not doing any, and thus get nothing done!
Money! Money is silly too, when you get a good job, you're all monied up, but shorter on time. When you have time, you probably don't have much of a job, so you haven't got the monies. All part of the money-time continuum, I guess.
Atm, it IS summer, but I just want to perpetually spend time chillin with people and friends. However, maybe it's due to time, but everyone seems to be in the 'grind', following life protocol and procedure and doing things, I wanna just drop everything and do something silly for a week. A week of new stuff, cheap stuff, just us stuff. A week maybe, of nothing. Some people really struggle with doing nothing except enjoying each other's company. I think that might be what I like least, I don't feel myself being in the grind, but can't easily find anyone else who isn't. I have got a few though, so I guess I be blessed it's not worse.
