Who likes him and who does not? Do people think his show is self righteous, self satisfying bullshit where Jeremy gets off on power rather than trying to fix things? Or do people think Jeremy is a decent guy, simply telling it like it is and making the scum of the earth feel deservedly shit?

people have a go, saying he bullies his guests, but fuck me are they a bunch of cunts. id flamethrower the lot of them.

I feel hes actualy a decent sort, when speaking with people who actualy treat him/outhers with respect, though i suppose he makes his money by feeding off of the dregs of society, so i dunno.

all in all, hes alright, id not hold my temper half as well with the little vaginal cysts who pop up on his show to endlessly reapeat "end of the day".

He seems to love using the phrase 'where I come from' as if it justifies all his arguments.

Now I'm a bit confused as to whether you like him or not. If there was a third, in between option, I'm guessing you would have gone for that?

Im in the middle, you only let us hae 2 very extremes.

ipaul

Well he does seem to polarise people. Think of either option as mildly like/dislike if you need to. Are you the sort of person who thinks marmite is just alright? :heh:

I don't think he's a hero or scum, and there are a few mixed messages with the show, at least in my own opinion anyway.

First off, the show is in its own set routine now, in that each show will definitely feature a lie detector test/result, a DNA test/result or alcohol/substance abuse at some point. It seems to have lost the "shock" factor that I think it may have had in the past. As a result, it's now harder to take the show seriously. Sure, you still feel appalled, but you care less than you would've done in the past. Dare I say it, have we as a society just come to accept the issues that this show portrays?

Secondly, this show is broadcast at around half past 9 in the morning, and it's deliberately aiming towards a certain type of audience. Is it a coincidence that all of the guests on the show are job-less or from a "underclass" background? I don't think it is. Some people think that the show "baits" people, and I would agree with this.

Thirdly, I think Jeremy does try to point out that there are a lot of problems with the country. He does ridicule a lot of people on the show, but then many others ridicule themselves, walking off stage, swearing, talking back to the host, basically making fools of themselves infront of the audience and country. So, sure Jeremy is making a point, but I think that it is a point that is lost upon many.

Why do I think there are mixed messages? Well, personally, I do think he is trying to talk some sense into guests who do have problems. But, it's bordering on farcical. He is now an agony/aunt for the job-less and ridiculous.

He seems fine on Talksport so I don't really hate him.

YOU'RE ALL SCUUUUUM! YOU ARE SCUM! YOU ARE SCUM! YOU COULDN'T BE MORE SCUM IF YOU DEEP-FRIED YOUR TRACKSUITS!

For me, I think of him as both. Sometimes I'd say the same thing but other times, he shouts at the wrong person. Other than that, he's not bad but he's not good.

And by the way, I find marmite alright, lmao.

I love it when he shouts at the annoying twats on the program, but when he's far TOO sympathetic, it reallllly gets on my wick. Just seems somewhat patronising.

That is basically him summed up in one word; patronising.

The majority of his guests are pathetic wasters who don't deserve the air they breathe. What's the point in watching a show like that in the first place?

There is nothing i can say that has not already been said. The guy can be a bit over the top sometimes, but who wouldn't when they're faced with those sort of people. Hes alright i guess, but i still voted scum!

I sometimes feel a bit sorry for his guests in the way he bullies them for the entertainment of a nation. "Get out of my sight, you're scum", "Where do you think you're going, get back here and defend yourself", "shut up, nobody asked you to speak. You deserve to be stamped on by horse for rest of your life like the turd you are."

But then, quite a lot of the guests sort of deserve a good kicking. It's swings and roundabouts. Still voted scum though as he is exploiting misery.

Hes a Fucking legend. About 98% of the people who he has on his show are the scum which is a fucking burden and bassically just general oxygen thieves. I only wish they had a fireing squad on there and jezza could do a thumbs up thumbs down style thing (ala gladiator) to decide if the guests are allowed to carry on stealing my oxygen.

Scum; what an egotistical wanker. This guy's head couldn't get any bigger if it was torn off and inflated with helium. The only thing worse than the chavs on this show is someone whose living is to interact with and goad said parasitic smears.

Nice mention of Jeremy Kyle in a past Gringo Asylum post:
http://thegringoasylum.blogspot.com/2009/04/media-moaner-1-itv-daytime-price-cuts.html

However I have found myself watching him a little more. I've come to notice he enjoys making sure everyone knows it's about him, it's always "MY show" as the name wasn't too much of a giveaway. I really don't see the point of having an audience, they do dick. The normal format is to have them ask some questions, but instead all they do is clap when Jeremy rants away. You might as well have a button which plays an applause track.

After watching Maury, Jeremy Kyle just seems so...vanilla now. For example, a 14 year old girl on an episode of Maury called Sheneqa or some other hilarious 'Ghetto' name was like "I've had sex for a double cheeseburger. I was hungry, so just did it". Wow, had she done it for a normal cheeseburger I'd have been horrified! But a double? Totally understandable. Plus, Kyle's smug attitude bugs me. Though, I do love these shows so much. They make you feel so much better about yourself, it's ace. :D

But yeah, he's a knob (admittedly, one with good intentions).

i love his "freak" episodes. the 26 stone 3 year old beign a personal favorite. it was just unreal.

also, boy who shot his own face off was a great watch. id always imagined that to a suicidal person, losing your face, including both your eyes would be pretty much confirmation to kill your self. not to him.

watched some rikki lake, she had freaks on who were admitting crushes. the guys were fucking creppy and just plain mental.

steve wilks is were its at. he gets so angry with his guests he throws chairs around and screams.

I actually just finished catching an episode of Maury. It wasn't as Kyle-esque as this thread made it out to be. In fact he was a bit of a pussy. But the guests they had were in severe need of a beating. And based on one of the guests' logic, I could've gotten away with it.

Not sticking up for the dude in the chair but there wasn't really any need for Jeremy Kyle to act like that, it could have been easily avoided. The guy didn't sound like he was being funny or anything, he sounded pretty genuine and when he said "It's an envelope", they should have left it at that but Jeremy Kyle decides to take it a step further and humiliate the guy even more and show him up (he was already humiliated as soon as he stepped foot on the show). Well, if you do that or behave like that to people, don't expect people to sit there quietly...

I'm the opposite, I used to like him a bit but now I can't stand him. He sticks up for the person who thinks is in the right and then it turns out they're lying and he accuses the innocent person of all sorts. He made two people break down in tears, one was about a job and the other was a gambler who wanted a family. I stopped watching him because he got annoying with his shouting and hardly anything is interesting anymore. I like to watch the ones about the young carers and heroes and stuff but if there's chavs, not much these days. I prefer to watch Everybody Loves Raymond on Comedy Central :D

He nicked his show format from Jerry Springer and watered it down. At least on Jerry Springer they allow the contestants to beat the living crap out of each other :D

Apart from that though, he IS exploiting misery. Although having said that, the contestants on the show ARE just bad as him. Graham the councilor may well be the only decent human being on that show !

That's partly why I don't like it. All these reality tv shows and chat shows of this type just seem to thrust these idiots into the spot-light.

I'm sick of idiots. It would be nice to have something insightful to watch and actually be proud of whats on television. ITV is mostly a joke these days.

It's the beatdown that's so entertaining. Finding out that the parents of baby B are brother and sister after a one night stand is TV gold. Watching the "guilty" parties and their parents/friends etc react is the best part. Half of the time you don't get that because Kyle wades in, knee-deep in his own bullshit to give some sage advice.

Not a big fan on the reuniting parent thing. I know it's a good thing but there's only one way it can only go. Blubbering and hugging (I'm yet to see a reunion where one half has exploded at the other). Trauma is much more volitile and unpredictable.

I can't believe some of these reunited people don't know what's coming. They claim to have no idea why they're there, and Jeremy (Or any other host) starts talking about their father and where they went etc etc. What the fuck are they expecting to happen now?
"Well I've just spent 20 minutes asking about your father and I can see you're just not getting it. I sent my team out (That's right MY team, it's the JEREMY KYLE SHOW) to find your father. And you know what? We couldn't find him. Join me after the break where we find out if Goat Boy is actually a llama, those all important DNA results next."
