View Full Version : Titles in development for Revolution
BigTac

I will not give out name of titles that haven't been announced yet. So I will just give you an idea of what I know on how much is in development for the Revolution. Obviously I don't know every single title or have info on every developer that working on the console this is from several of my sources(co-workers, word straight from developers directly to me throught meetings and/or visits,) And just to make it clear, despite the fact that I have talked with lots of people I still don't know the specs 100%. I don't even now everything about the system itself.
Ubisoft = 5 titles / 3 for launch date. I think this number will of course increase, from what people at Ubi have talked to me about system. I think Ubisoft will have lots of people talking when they show off their Revolution software.
EA = You can expect your usual Sports titles, along with their other racing,action... games. They launch numbers would depend on exectly when exactly the system launches. For those whoo think that EA will just simply port over their games and leave them the same your wrong. I love some of the ideas they have for some of the sports games. Haven't really heard what their thinking for other genre.
Activision = 3 titles / 2 for launch date. Saw game concepts for one title in September.
SquareEnix = 2 titles / 1 at launch date. I would expect this to rise.
BandaiNamco = 3 titles / 2 for launch date.
THQ = 3 titles / 1-2 for launch.
Konami/Kojima = 4 titles / 2 for launch. I hear that we will have 2 titles from Kojima. I know you have heard the rumor that Kojima is working on a classic Nintendo franchise and if it turns out to be true then I hope it's Kid Icarus.
That's all for now. I will try to give you an idea of what to expect from Nintendo (including Zoonami,Camelot), Atari, Sega, and Capcom ASAP.

A new Kid Icarus would make be sweet but this all sounds a bit random. Since when do Square, Namco, or Konami ever have launch games?

To simply put it I am a video game industry insider/journalist. I started shortly after E3 '04'. I attended E3 I attended E3 for the first time in this past May. I got my job through good word of mouth by a former employee at NoA.
Revolution will launch 3rdQuarter 06. August/Sept most likely. Worldwide!

Who said Nintendo will be last ones out. I still have reason too believe that Sony won't have PS3 out worldwide until the end of 2006. If somehow they do manage to get a spring release it won't be worldwide. This is what was going around about a month ago on the PS3 release: Japan = April-August / US = August-September / Europe = Sept-November.
Also I just don't go out and start making predictions I'm not some person claiming to know everything. As far as predictions being made I don't know. But I am 110% sure about the time period for a 3rd quarter worldwide launch of the Revolution.
First of all I expect some actual titles to be announced before the end of the year, from Nintendo and 3rd parties. If not it will be in January. I think it's no way Nintendo can go all the way until E3 to show game footage and screenshots. Maybe something is planned for GDC in March?.
I was gonna tell you guys earlier that Wario Ware will be at launch. But the reason I didn't mention it is because I thought everyone already knew that. This is a game that shows off what the controller can do.

Namco i know for a fact release launch games (ps2 tekken tag) konami most probably have, but i am sure square dont.
But anyway nice list and good news lets hope some of these ubisoft games are amazing.
Edit: What i just noticed which is the icing on the cake is that none of these titles are by nintendo :shock: they are all 3rd partys if true wow revolution is going to have the best launch ever!
... Just need smash brothers for launch *fingers crossed*

Sega = 3 titles / 1 title for launch.
Atari = 2 titles /
Capcom = 2 titles / maybe 1 for launch.
Nintendo = 10 titles / 3-5 titles at launch. Expect Metroid Prime 3/Mario to be at launch date. 2 new franchises that are in development, one may be at launch date. I hear the Wario Ware will be at launch date. I have heard about at least 3 new genre/wierd/different titles that will come out. SSB will probally be at launch but I think they should keep it until holiday season. I think Nintendo have to have one of the big franchises for November release. If MP3,Mario,SSB are at launch I don't know what they would have for November. Nintendo will have a hard time deciding with 3rd parties also what should be at launch date or the weeks after. And of course they will need to have something big for the holidays.
Camelot = 2 titles / 1 for launch.
Zoonami = 2 titles / 1 for launch. This title formally know as "Game Zero" is huge! That's all I have to say. This has Killer app potential.
New news I just heard assuming it's true: PS3 will launch in Japan Sept. US might also come in September-November. Europe in November.
Revolution may come out later then I previolsy thought. I heard a September-October US/Japan launch. October-November launch for Europe.
So Sounds like Nintendo and Sony might just have a big battle sometime around the 3rd quarter. I was told again that a Spring launch in any terrortory for PS3 is possible but not likely. Hopefully Nintendo beat out Sony on launch shipments, knowing how bad Sony is they most likely will.

Wow, if this list of launch titles turns out to be true - I'm believing you, it's because some games get delayed maybe - I have to save more money and this should also be a killer launch lineup.
It's good to hear that so many big companies are already supporting the Revo when they aren't even allowed to make official announcements, I think.

The launch date you said seems too late to me. I doubt Nintendo would want to have a direct launch competion with Sony. It could be true but Im still hoping for June/July launch.
I see that someone on Gamespot forums misunderstood what I said about Kid Icarus. I didn't say that Kojima was making Kid Icarus I simply said that if the rumor is true then I hope it's him. For some reason I just think that he would do great with that. And I only mentioned that because I was talking with someone at Nintendo and I asked them about the title. She almost confirmed it's development but when I asked if it would be in house development or a collab with someone outside Nintendo she didn't really say anything else so I got a little vibe that it maybe possible that it may come with a collaboration.
Again anything is possible. Going by what your saying that if Nintendo releases in the 3rd quater/4thQ it's too late so that means Microsoft is too early. Why wouldn't Nintendo direct competition with Sony. They done it with the DS in Japan.
Things not revealed so far: Classic Control Shell, Final Name, Specs(they will come out), Games(info,screenshots,footage). And of course unknown features.

Is the stuff about possible steroscopic 3D being used on the Rev true?
Are there any RPGs in development for Rev?
Is Resident Evil 5/Sonic coming to Rev?

Of course there are RPG's in development. I know of 2 that will be at launch be there are others don't worry. The Revolution features work great with RPG's.
I don't know if the #d rumors are true off course there are rumors but either way I believe things like steroscopic 3d will be a part of consoles in the future.
Why don't I know about the classic shell? Yeah I know about it even though I haven't seen it. As you know when Nintendo first went around showing the free hand controller to developers lots of them weren't excited but as they showed the analog add -on they became much more interested. But that wasn't enough. Developers wanted more. So Nintendo talked with a few 3rd parties and asked what they want for a classic control. And I also think the system should come with the classic shell and nun-chuck add-on.
Ask me about games in 1 month.

With the handheld market they can afford to take risks because they basically have a monoploy on it. They have dwindled on the home console market recently and the PlayStation name holds more credibility to the casual gamer than than Nintendo.

All those games at launch? Hahahaha, I'll believe it when I see it. You forget that barely any third-party developers knew about the REV till E3 of this year. I doubt many companies could complete a REV title in a little more than a year, let only 3 or however many you stated.
More importantly, why are you forum goers buying into his crap?
Stocka: There is at least 1 RPG officially CONFIRMED. Camelot is developing the only known RPG for the REV. Nobody knows if it's Golden Sun or something new. However, given the REV's capabilities, wouldn't using your psych energy be that much cooler?

yeh i really hope nintendo use a PPu. I mean i was shocked that given all the money they spent on their consoles sony and microsoft didnt use one in their consoles, their machine would have been so much better had they done this (assuming the performance gains of a PPU are as good as advertised).
But after seeing the freehand controller i gained new hope for a ppu cos i saw nintendo aren't afraid to use technology that could actually improve the game experience. And the freehand controller begs for better physics IMO.

How do you know this Big Tac? Are you with NOA Redmond? I'm a video game tester there and what you say is partially acruate. I don't go to any meetings or such but I hear around, and I know quite a lot about what's in development. It's almost certain that Metroid 3 will not make launch, and Mario and Smash Bros. might not. There will not be 2 RPGs at launch, but one might be released short after. I know there is going to be a much larger launch than the other consoles for the REV, but what you say looks wrong to me, that's way more than what Nintendo's going to release with the REV. Like you're 10 titles over from what I know. You're comment about Game Zero took me off guard because I've heard nothing about the title for quite some time. You may be right, but I'm doubting it. I believe most of what you've said BigTac, but a lot of it probably could have been guessed. What I'm skeptical of is the Square titles. FF:CC for Revolution, but what more... I sent you a private message for you to look at. Believing that you really do work with NoA here are a few things/questions about what you said.
Do you really think MP3,Mario, and SSB won't make it at launch date? I could see if you said one of them won't make it. I actually think either MP3 or SSB will come in November.
There will be between 15-20 at launch. I base this of what developers say they would like to have complete for launch. Remember Nintendo wants to have a good constant flow of great titles following launch. So what is your number range for titles at launch?
About Game Zero it may be because Zoonami have stop using that name for some months now. This is far in development as far as Revolution titles are concerned.
About Kid Icarus I know it's coming but is it a in house development in Nintendo or a collab like with "Capcom, Kojima..."? I talked with a friend at NoA and when asked about it she basically confirmed it but when I asked about who's making it she hesitated and didn't really say much else.
