So the big new (bound to be popular) US TV show "Fringe" started yesterday (I think) officially on TV. The feature length first episode was leaked months ago, however.

I personally loved the season opener, and I eagerly await next week (assuming last night was the full feature length episode bundle)

I assume this started in the States? How have you seen it? When does it start on Sky One?

Erm yeah, sorry in the US. I don't know when it airs over here Im afraid.

My friend in America burnt it onto DVD for me and sent it over.

What on earth is it?

Its a bit like the X Files but good.

Weird stuff starts happening around the world, and a government department investigates it.

Essentially/nut shell etc.

Strange show name o_o I thought this was going to be a thread about whether fringes (hair) are good.

Lol yeah. Its cos of "Fringe Science" or so they refer to in the show.

Hair fringes are good too though....well I mean they have their uses/look good on some people.

The pilot (the old one) was pretty good. I just hope they've removed the awful text effects.

I was wondering if he meant that aswell, especially since so far Fringe doesnt seem anywhere near X Files level.

To be fair....I never really watched it lol. It was an unfounded comment.

Except fringes are called bangs in America. BANG!

Yeah anyway...I wanna check it out because of the buzz but Joshua Jackson bores me, J.J. Abrams annoys me and the plot/theme/concept of the show is of little interest to me. And judging by feedback so far its not exactly me rush to find out.

I was distinctly underwhelmed by the pilot. Except for the opening scene which is the single most horrifying thing I've ever seen on television. Other than that I couldn't help but feel the whole thing is born for filler and I just didn't like the characters all that much.

Oddly enough I think Joshua Jackson was the best thing in it and im not a big fan of him either.

My fringe is starting to get slightly too long and into my eyes.

Sorry, wrong fringe.

Yeah, the fringe is awesome. Usually get some really awesome stuff going on around Edinburgh during it.

Sorry, still wrong fringe.

Haven't even heard of this show.

*bump*

I watched the first episode last night out of curiosity, and I gotta say that it was good. I'll defo be watching again- Fringe seems to be the new X-Files which is no bad thing, imo.

You watch any Fringe then Jay...?

I tuned in again last night and it was pretty good. Nice self contained episodes with an over arcing story tieing it all together- just like the X-Files. Its a bit out there (ie in the realms of fringe science) but thats why I'm liking it. I need to get on Wikipedia, cos that guy in it... do I recognise him from something or does he just look like someone else...?

So i've watched the first two episodes and I quite like it so far. It's a little unbelievable at times, but then the X-Files was hardly only fact. I think the casting is really good in it. The girl who plays the agent is hot, Joshua Jackson has the sarcastic wit and facial hair, and the guy who plays his dad is just awesome, "That's go make some LSD". Gonna check out the other episodes later on.

the young guy? he was Pacey in Dawson's Creek.

this show seemed a bit weak from the pilot. prone to filler and I didn't like the characters much.

Yeah, thats the one. I checked his Wiki page and I reckon I recognise him from the likes of the Mighty Ducks and Oceans Eleven- I never watched Dawsons Creek so I'm ruling that one out.

I haven't found it to be fillery so far- it seems to be fast paced and to the point.
