Hi again, I just can'tn wait 'till I get Nintendogs! It looks really good. I sooo want it! But theres one problem... I don't know what version to get! Can u help me and tell me what ur getting, they are all so cute I can't decide. This game has easily risen to my most wanted game of this year.

I’ve got the US Dachshund & friends version.
It’s a fantastic game, best on the DS so far I reckon.

As for what version to get, well just base it on which puppy you most want to start with (that’s why I got the Dachshund version :aww: ) as it will take a long time to unlock all the breeds, even longer if you don’t use bark mode.

Yeah you can unlock all of the breeds in any version.
Oh – there’s only three versions though:

Chihuahua, Labrador & Dachshund.

Cool! Because thats why i was finding it so hard too choose because i liked all the dogs, I thought it would be like the pokemon blue/red, gold/silver etc... Now i want it even more!

I have Dachshund and Friends as well, and my particular dog is a wee Siberian Husky called Deacon :) He is particularly good at the frisbee contest, but is unfortunately afraid of everything, including sticks, bubbles and tissues.

I think the thing that sounds most exciting is the mic. The fact you can tell them to do stuff,does it work well, Johelian or does it not undersatnd your voice very well?

Well, it basically uses voice recognition on a sample that you yourself have recorded - so you could record any sound, any word in any language, and so long as you use that same sound again, it will recognise it and obey. I had the Japanese version of the game beforehand, and it worked the same way.

I have had no problems with the sound recording, although I have noticed that it doesnt pick up single syllable sounds like "sit" very well; I would therefore advise that you give your dog a name with at least 2 syllables, and do the same for each of its commands ("sit" can become "sit down", etc). Also, you should say the commands in a clear, normal way, because if you record your command in a certain tone, it will then only recognise that tone. I had some troubles with my first dog, because I would enunciate the words in a particular pitch, and then not be able to remember the exact way I had said it last time. This gets very frustrating! Luckily, you can re-record any command at any time - the only thing you cant re-record is the dogs name. It says in the manual to say the command clearly with your mouth around 6 inches away from the speaker when you record, so I guess as long as you follow that advice you should be ok :)

bstmte, the Lab and Friends pack has a corgi (in the US version anyway). WOOH! I want lab and friends now, I love corgi's, I'm going to name mine in memory of my nans dog which was always there since the day i was born, He was great! His name was sabre, he sadly died of age although he lived a well 18 years! :aww: I sooooooo want that game! lol.

Chihuahua and Friends has the Cavalier King Charles, but you can get it in the black/tan colour of the King Charles. Hurray! Its also uber cute.

I don't care which version I get, I'm kinda "meh" with Nintendogs. I'll probably end up getting it when it's gone cheap, but it's not something I'm weeing myself waiting for.

I have a feeling it'll be just like Animal Crossing where you have the week of total obsession, then you realise it's a waste of time and never touch it unless you fancy showing off what the DS can do to a friend...

Ive had it for a few months now. Its possibly due to the fact its in Japanese that I didnt play it as much as I thought I would although once you get past the first training bit theres not that much Japanese involved.

Its still worth a buy id say and if im in the mood for a new game I may get the English version.

Huskies are available right from the start in the version I’ve got, Dachshund & Friends.
I got a husky in my game a while back and they’re really fast, good for the competitions.

Well, I think it was just me that had an issue with P-A as the item I ordered from them took about 4-5 days to dispatch and then nealry 2 weeks to arrive as I recall. Maybe it was out of stock, I dont know - but that discouraged me a little. On the other hand, I ordered Osu! Tatakae! Ouedan! from Y-A and it arrived in around 4-5 days. Its the only thing Ive ever ordered though so I guess theres still room for changing my mind :)

I ordered things from Lik-Sang and they both had customs charges :( I know its not their fault, but if someone else is willing to mark it down Im always going to go with the cheaper option. I havent had any issues with them other than that.

In AMERICA. Unless VGP get it most people can't.

Also all thats different is the starting dogs.

And if any of you do import remember Nintendo UK will not repair any broken DS's.

But that didn't stop me when the DS first came out in america but still so far so good.

I agree. I do not think one version is specifically oriented to girls or boys. For Lab, the apparent boy version, you have a toy poodle :angry:, for the apprent girly Daschund version you have a Siberian husky which i'd say appeals to guys more. Oh well.

Hmm, seems Chihuahua & friends is the least popular version as it isn't being bundled. Although I think this is probably becasue the Chihuahua version deals with all the miscellaneous. It would be good though if they did a Chihuahua version with a white DS. So you'd have Blue for boys, Pink for girls and White for everyone :)

Does anyone have the sales figures for US/Japan comparing the 3 versions' sales. I wonder which one is most popular?

Though I don't see why you lot are complaining about these bundles. You can still get all the dogs in each game. Or am I wrong?

aaaah, that mascot is COOOOOL! lol. Ok Ive just made myself look a bit... But it looks so cool lol. and yeah all dogs are unlockable its just i thought, would i have to give up one of my old dogs when i unlocked another set of dogs been as u can only own three. I dont think i could do that! my poor pup :( lol, listening to coldplay, suits the mood for getting rid of dogs...sad and depressing.

you can have 8 dogs, cos theres a hotel, i think. all your other dogs are in the hotel and if you want to take them out you just go there adn take them out. so you can keep 3 dogs for home and some more in the hotel.

I got chiwawa, I was going to get lab but they only had chiwawa and my sister HAD to have nintendogs (so I guess it worked out that it's for both [or is it]) We went half and half... Now she is trying to persuade me to buy the nintendogs skin *will not happen*

Lol, beware though Platty, while your friends may find you cooing your dogs name cute, they will quickly get sick of you shouting commands at it. :(

On a side note, I havent played with Deacon the Husky in a while...when I finally went back to see him he had fleas and looked very depressed. I gave him a bath and the soap turned black. Lucky there is no virtual RSPCA.

I like the fact the music goes all jazzy when the dog is really dirty too, and then gradually fades back to that light tune as the dog gets cleaner. There are a lot of subtle changes in the music on walks too that I didn’t really notice at first, like when you encounter another dog you can tell if they’ll fight or not by what’s going on with the music, very cool. :wink:

I know it's not much effort to preorder it but most shops near me are a bit of a biatch and require deposits which I am against as then I'm tied to buying it from them when I may discover anoder shop may be seeling it for a good 5/10 quid cheaper :(

On another note, is a bulldog avaible in any of the versions?

I'm surprised at the exclusion of the bulldog as this is pretty popular dog within Europe. It having a A French variation and the traditional English version and the fact that Sharn Osbourne as gone and put teh bulldog on the map an all ;)

Are there any new dogs for the US best of friends edition? Or is it a best of the best collection from all three versions?

Seems the daschund bundle is at number 4 on the top ten DS preorders at Gameplay. Labrador bundle at 8th, Daschund game at 9th and labrador bundle at 10th.

People are loving the pink DS and daschund.

ive preorder all three from GAME and im going to decide which one i want over the next week or so, at the moment, im swaying towards the version with the cavalier king charles spaniel in, but i also want the pug and beagle version :hmm:

Have a look at the unlocking lists....Example, i wanted the version with the Huskey or Shiba Inu, i then looked at the unlock guide and saw on the Dashund version (with Huskey) that getting just 4,000 trainer points unlocked the Siba Inu - happy alround. My only problem now is i want a Chihuachua which gets unlocked at a whopping 50,000 trainer points (currently on 20,000 after 3 weeks of play).
