Are many of you peeps smokers? How much do you smoke? And do you ever get over having a mouth that tastes like mouldy cardboard?

I can't stand the stuff. I'm one of those idiots who buys a big fat cigar at the pub when I'm half cut and then proceed to piss everyone off with the horrible smell. It usually ends with me feeling lightheaded and barfing up.

i dont, tried it when i was like 14, didnt know what to do and hated it and still hate it to this day, i dont wish to inhale smoke into my lungs and dont like it when i come out of the pub smelling like an ashtray! dont get me wrong im not an anti smoking hate campaigner or anything i dont mind people round me or my friends smoking as long as i dont get it blown in my face!

ive had the odd cigar but struggle through it and dont really know how to smoke it to be fair, people laugh at me....

oh oh i also hate it when i meet a girl who smokes, damn its not good.

Haven't done it. Never will. Although I have to say, most of the people in my class (year 10) smoke. Half smoke pot and I think one does magic mushrooms :bah:. I'll never understand the attraction. I know there's peer-pressure etc. But it seems like most people you know don't have any willpower. Some of my best friends who I never dreamed would smoke or do drugs have started. Don't give in, don't do it!

"Now we know!" "And knowing is half the battle!"

I don't smoke.
I don't think I'll ever do it either. I learned my lesson when I was about five or six, being sick from all the smoke my grandparents produced when I was there on holiday. Had to take som medicines for it, I dunno what it was.

I don't like to be around people who smoke. They can smoke near me, but just don't get all that smoke in my face! >_>
And people can do what they want.. I don't really care, as long as it's not being pushed onto me in any way.

I wonder how people can do that to themselves, it harms your body and costs money at the same time but as long as I don't get the smoke blown into my face I doesn't really bother me.

I smoke about 10-15 cigarettes a day - mostly when I am walking to university or in the breaks between to classes. In restaurants I would never smoke while somebody is eating at my table and I try to to respect others even though sometimes it is hard to talk with very strict non-smokers.

Bren

I smoke about 15 a day, i hate people who put down on people for smoking. Its your own choice, unless theyre getting the smoke of your ciggy then they have no reason to complain.

I dont smoke around kids or anythin though.

Couldn't agree more.
Fair enough, it is your own choice but when smokers smoke in confined spaces, non-smokers have no choice but to breathe in those fumes.
And yeah, like Bowser said, the majority of smokers just let their fag ash drop if they're outside. When they're finished they'll chuck the thing on the ground and dub it out with their foot.
It's disgusting and it's true that the majority of smokers do this.
That's something to complain about.

Yeah, the skanky corner that is only skanky because smokers leave their cig butts there.

As for the ash, out of sight of mind eh? Ash floating around the air is great for people with asthma.

If someone has a drink they aren't forcing anyone else to. If someone smokes in a public place, they practically are.

The majority of people can have a drink without smashing glass and getting into fights whereas the majority of smokers do make the place a mess with butts and ash.

Fumes from cars mess up the air? Yeah they do, so why the hell is that an excuse to go about adding more shit to our air?

Life does have it's downers. So why go about creating more?

david.dakota
17-09-2005, 11:28 AM
I have never smoked - and it ruins my life!

Unfortunately, although no medical diagnosis has been made I can barely breath in a smokey room. Start wheezing, eyes water, feel nausious and basically get pissed off. By the next morning I have dirty black bogies which block my sinuses completely.

I think people do have a right to smoke, if they so wish. But I (and others) have a right to clean air too.

Smokers should also be forced to pay a heafty levy for NHS treatment of smoking related ilnesses.

I have tried smoking, but it didnt really do anything for me so i didn't take it up as a habit. I have had the odd Hamlet cigar just for a laugh - so i dont see a lot of harm in doing that once every 6 months (say).

And about the NHS levees, i would like to see that happen but i cant. Next we'll be charging fat people because their weight has contributed to health conditions etc etc.

So the butt was only a few mm's long.

Smokers should also be forced to pay a heafty levy for NHS treatment of smoking related ilnesses.

The duty collected by the Government from cigarettes is much larger than the amount spent by the NHS on treating smoking related diseases. In 2002, the Treasury earned just over £8 billion a year from tobbaco duties, and the NHS spends around £1.5 billion a year on smoking related disease treatment, which includes the cost of hospital admissions, GP consultations and prescriptions.

I personally don't smoke tobacco - I smoke weed occasionally. I'm all for smoking to be banned in restaurants and places that serve food. Pubs, I don't mind, and I don't associate with people who blow smoke at people, so I'm at least not getting a lungful each breath.

Like others it makes no logical sense to me at all. The only benifits it seems to offer is to fit into a paticular social group. But I am really to apathetic to take up something that is going to harm me to gain some friends who share the habit. Makes no sense at all to me. At least cigars look cool though in a old fashioned british empire kind of way.

Thats true, however when they become drunk and act like utter knobs even causing damage then that is far worse than inhaling smoke.

Having said that i dont like somking either, tried it a few times and i cant stand it, making your breath reek something shocking. Its a waste of money and go out to a confined space and you'll have to wash your clothes the next day.

Uhm, unlike alcohol or almost every drug?

I smoke occasionally, which means that if I go to a party(that week) I smoke about 10 cigarettes a week, if I don't, I smoke perhaps 2 or 3. Sure, I don't like obtrusive smokers, but I'll rather(even when I wasn't smoking at all, or when I'm not) sit near a bigtime smoker then a mean drunk.
Rolling your own always gets you weird looks, it's rather fun :) Infact, a week ago I was sitting at a café with a friend, and I was rolling a cigarette and a girl from the table beside us comes up and asks me if she can taste some, I answer that it's just tobacco and then she looked a bit sad and said, oh, ok, and went back to her friends. I don't think I would dare come up and ask a complete stranger for weed (unless someone told me he/she was a dealer ;P)

I smoke around 5-10 a day, i wont lie, i started because i was always around my girlfriend who smoked and when we got drunk id go 'give me one!' then i brought my own one day and it was all down hill. Im not addicted though, i could stop, in fact i go quite a few days when i just dont feel like one. Its only usually habit that urges me, like after eating or when drinking, or if someone else is smoking, its rude not to! I joke, but you get what i mean.

I fucking hate people who piss and moan about it though, unless they have a baby near by or are pregnant, get a life, havnt you got anything better to do than get angry at someone for smoking at the bus stop or what have you. No-one who smokes ever blows it into peoples faces, when i didnt smoke i had no problem with it so i duno why people do. Its not the end of the world. If smokers follow the rules and do it where theyre allowed then theres no problem, i can only condone anyone telling someone to stop if its somewhere they shouldnt like on a bus or in a non smoking part of a restaurant etc.

In general. Smoking should be outright banned. It's a harming drugstick that does kill. If our pathetic government can condone so much of other substances et al... well, it's quite obvious the only reasons cigeretes aren't banned is the few billion of taxes the gov'ment pick up. They are the asses in all of this. Not the individual smokers. If Jav smoked around me, I wouldn't feel any different. Infact, I'm quite sure Jav smoking adds to his coolness? If that's possible? hehe

I agree with banning smoking in public places, but they couldnt ever properly ban smoking as a whole because it would put so many huge companies out of business.

Then after that, let's ban drinking.

I knew he was being sarcastic hence my ridiculous replies.

Sarcasm is awesome. It just gets misunderstood too much.

Fuck that, I've no chance of surviving life in Sunderland if I can't numb the senses to the point where I can block out all the activities that go on in the streets at night.
