With England not in the Euros this year this is perhaps the best chance some of us have of winning it! Anyway teams are first come first served basis we will see how the teams fill up and if we don't fill all of them up we may have to rejig the groups from reality! Get all your mates in, even if you have mates who don;t have the game but come round to urs to play it they can have a team! Here are the groups;

All teams play each other once and the top 2 in each group go through with 1st playing 2nd in the opposite group. Positions are based on points>results against each other>goal difference etc...as per the real world Euro 2008.

good game 2-1 to you and 1-0 to you. In the first game I went all out defense as I had just lost 6-3 and 5-4 to people in free matches. Croatia aren't very good seem have a fair few slow players having said that I cannot defend for shit at the moment...most improve before compeition

Well I'm open to suggestions as to where to take this...thought I'd leave this a bit past the deadline of the weekend see if they caught euro 2008 fever and signed up, but alas it has not happened.

Really struggled in this game, could have lost by far more, but a snap goal from srna left Croatia chasing the last 15 mins for nothing. Germany are through...If Croatia draw against Portugal they are through on goal difference.

Well other than me and darksnowman (who surely have to share a wooden spoon losers play off?) things have been pretty tight. The pressure is definitly on the champions league champ Bryn to get the points, / nando / will be nervous but points in the bag are better than games in hand.

The way I see it Holland are through if France Win OR Draw. If however Spain Win they go above France owing to better record against them, however Holland would also be aboth Spain owing to superior record against them and France would be above Holland as they beat them, so it would all go down to goal difference....

Which would mean a heavy defeat for France could see them go out whereas a moderate defeat could make things complicated with regards to goal difference.

Summary:

The group stages seemed to take forever to get going, and complete. This been due to players not been online at the same time as their opponents. With n-europe forums only being the real source of communications between players it was often by chance that you were online at the same time as your opponent. Then arranging a time to play was also tricky as conflicting schedules such as work, uni and social life got in the way of the tournament progressing at a swift pace. Personally i think this and the lack of people involved are the only downsides to the tournaments because as soon as the games begin you can't wait to play your next opponent and the fact that theres actually nothing up for grabs apart from being the champ, doesn't mean that the nerves, tension and competitivness isn't there. So get involved as i am need of more people to beat. ;)

The group stages were great fun with two difficult wins. My game against flameboy started off brightly with 2 goals in the first half. This was partly due to one of flameboy's players being red carded for a mysterious fowl... The 2nd half saw lots of chances at either end with flameboy scoring a goal late on in the match. But the final result was 2-1. A good game and so far a good tournment.

For the second tournament in a row, my participation ends in what can only be described as an unplayable mess. The lag was awful and it was a complete lottery.. neither player could have known what was happening on screen so, as is always the case when lag comes into it, I end up going out and feeling annoyed that I didn't get to play the game properly..

Very disappointed.. I feel I could have won this :sad:

For the second tournament in a row, my participation ends in what can only be described as an unplayable mess. The lag was awful and it was a complete lottery.. neither player could have known what was happening on screen so, as is always the case when lag comes into it, I end up going out and feeling annoyed that I didn't get to play the game properly..

Very disappointed.. I feel I could have won this :sad:

AGAIN! Ugh, i always have to comeback.Went to penalties just like our friendly a few weeks ago. Ah well, i got lucky bryn missed a couple (read that as plenty) of sitters, but his players were shoving me off the ball but the blind dumb ref saw nothing. Grrr. Ah well good luck in the final.

Anyone still up for playing this? Love this game, best footy game ever :) Konami beter be releasing a new one, can't beieve they didn't announce 09 edition with the other versions.

I know this one has only just come out, but the players are insanely out of date!!!!
