View Full Version : Is there any element of gaming you wish were real?

...I'm sure gaming has corroded our minds so much as to wish some things were real...
I've always wished Pokemon to be real back when I was hooked on Pokemon Red about 10 years ago (wow). I always used to look at a pidgeon...as a Pidgey and imagining it evolve into Pidegeotto and then the giant Pidgeot. :) :/
But seriously, a pokemon world on earth would have been cool, give or take a few ghost and psychic 'mons.
Pokémon could be (sort of) possible if they figure out two things: turning creatures to and from pure energy so they can be stored in a ball and mind control so they listen to you.
From that it's just a matter of the Government letting us pit our Pokémon in fights against each other for money (of course they won't have powers, but you get the idea).
Recharging health would be nice.

Just your life being a big adventure going on journeys to other places to go and do some tasks and such.
Basically, playing in the RPG of life where everyone has an adventure to go on.
Multiple items cheat would be nice aswell.

Yes, and with a blissful theme tune playing in the background, like Hyrule Field. :D

I could only wish. Some form of Pokemon VR has to happen.

Every room having music (which changes throughout the day, and turns off when someone plays proper music) would make live much more interesting. Even better if it changed depending on the situation.

Which reminds me of Family Guy when Peter gets 3 wishes and he wishes for his own theme music. Travelling on the bus music, etc.
That would make life more interesting. Knowing when there's a sad moment or awkward moment just by listening to the background music.
I always loved the way in RPG's you can just go into anyone's house, and talk to them, but never have a conversation, it's just them telling you a joke anecdote/fact about the area.

Item systems, thereby allowing you to carry up to several hundred kilos of items without even knowing. Shopping would be a breeze.

Also when you start taking their stuff.
I always laugh when i find something like "medicine" when I´m at some total strangers house

I remember when I was younger I always wished pokemon were real because it would be so awesome.
Now... I can't think of anything I'd desperately like - I think I'd abuse functions like lives and save points. Hmm, maybe being able to study and learn magic like in some RPGs, that would be great.

A quicksave/quickload feature would be awesome. So many things I've regretted a few seconds after.

Godmode and unlimited pocket space plz. I'd say the save/load thing, but I know I'd forget to save at a crucial moment.

I wouldn't mind being able to run along/ up walls, oh, and having an instantly recharging health system, being able to cure broken bones, burns, cuts and bullet wounds with a medikit, being able to run any distance without getting tired, being able to cast Knights of The Round, or at least Bahamut, being Dante, being able to walk into random peoples houses without getting arrested, finding monies in tall grass and under stones, never having to take a shower/ crap/ whizz, oh, and my personal favourite: respawn points.

I've often pondered this and concluded that albeit Pokemon and GTA would be great gameworlds to live in, Zelda wins this. Just look at the world in it. Perfection, just like New Zealand.

It would be cool if you could retry parts of your life like you can in games until you get it right, or until you get the high score you wanted.

It's called acrobatics and/or martial arts.

Definitely Pokemon, when I was younger I always wanted to catch a Pikachu and go off on some journey with a few friends!
Then again, kids wandering around on their own across the world might be a bit dodge, what with pedophiles and all :heh:

Yeah, if there's actually anyone that can run several metres up and along walls, I'd very much like to castrate myself.

The ability to go back and change stuff and get another chance would be the biggest feature I would like.
I also used to fantasize about real pokemon.
I think thing from games that we would all like is just the ability to have a life that is interesting and an adventure.

I'd never want that, sleeping is so good. But would you really like sleeping if you never got physically exhausted? If your body didn't need to 'recharge' or anything? Why would you want sleep if you didn't need it, you basically lose about 1/3-1/2 of your life to sleep.
It would be nice just to live in a world where more exciting things happen. Or where you could somehow be intelligent without ever seeming to need school. Pokemon trainers didn't go to school, they just went out and lived an adventure life....
I'd quite like a real-life gamerscore like on the 360.

Pretty sure I saw somebody mention it earlier, but the ability to save before you reach a certain part...so that if you get it wrong, you can redo it as many times as you want until you get it right.
Kinda like GroundHog Day. Hehe.

Extra lives and continues sound very tempting to bring into real life, and does invincibility and the Save and Load method.

Living in a town filled with talking animals and the local shop being run by a badass Capitalist racoon... (tycoon).
I'd happily give up the reality of Pokemon to experience a real world Animal Crossing. It's such an optomistic, innocent world and it has Totakeke to provide the badass soundtrack.

That's... an odd example.
Anyway, I'd definitely go for someone appearing and informing me of some mysterious destiny that awaits me. That would be very useful right now.

Thats freaking ace, LOL.
I'm still in love with having a background soundtrack which changes according to the situation. So as you leave home in the morning under a radiant sun with blue skies, you get the chirpy theme like the beginning of OOT's Hyrule Field Theme. But say if its 11pm at night and you're being tailed by a few chavs the tune takes an ominous approach, like as you were getting closer to the final boss in TP in Hyrule Castle...With organs and shit.
