Yeah apparently he has pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs.

Not sure how reliable a source the national enquirer is but this is what they say:

Patrick Swayze has five weeks to live, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has learned.

In a shocking world exclusive, The NATIONAL ENQUIRER has uncovered the devastating news that the beloved Hollywood actor and dancer was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer that has spread to other organs.

Swayze's rep confirmed the sad news Wednesday. Full details are in the print edition of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER that goes on sale Thursday.

For the past month, Patrick, 55, has been traveling to Stanford University's prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful.

Patrick and his wife Lisa Niemi — who both have pilot's licenses — have been flying their private Beechcraft plane into Palo Alto's airport, minutes away from the Stanford Cancer Center, where the actor has received outpatient treatment.

He received three doses of chemotherapy and the tumor shrank, but less than his doctors had hoped for — and Patrick was told he should prepare for the end.

"He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure," said an insider.

The man who danced into the hearts of audiences worldwide in the 1980s in Dirty Dancing and then broke them in the poignant love story Ghost in the early '90s has lost more than 20 pounds in the past few weeks and is restricted to a liquid diet because he has trouble keeping down solid food, added the insider.

"It's time to start praying for a miracle."

No kidding here. Celebrities are really dropping now, seems to be a new one dead not long after the other.

If this is true... There's a curse I tell you.

BBC have now reported on it but say the "weeks to live" bit is untrue. But he does have cancer.

I confused Patrick Swayze with Patrick Stewart.
Nearly fell off my chair.

I wanna see a celebrity with a countdown to death go out with a bang and do some crazy stuff! Of course, I hope it doesn't happen to any celebrities, but if it was me, and famous or not, I'd do me some crazy things!
Shame about Swayze, though I only remember him for Ghost.

Ghost is a classic film, sure a bit soppy but the basic premise along with Whoopie Goldberg and the way it is executed is brilliant. Point Blank, Donnie Darko and Dirty Dancing are the only other films I really remember him from - which all have their merits.

Hope you get better Patrick, would be a shame to lose another decent actor.

Who the hell was he in Donnie Darko?

That lecturer guy, was he teaching kids about safe sex or something? Haven't seen it in ages.

Donnie exposes his stash of porn or something to the world later in the film, IIRC.

Okay. Wink wink. Yes the film with Patrick Swayze and Whoopie Goldberg isn't Dirty Dancing. Nudge nudge.

... ReZ are you being silly on purpose O_o

Mad Propz-wishes to the dude. Despite the horrible, horrible connotations he assembles in my mind, you can't wish this on anyone.

Rule A) ReZ is barely ever serious.

Rule B) If you are ever in doubt of if ReZ is joking or being serious, see Rule A.

The only movies i know him from are Point Blank, Ghost and Dirty Dancing of which he was great in all of them, best wishes go out to him to recover, and as Intensity said it would be a great shame to lose another great actor.

Would it be particularly crass to start taking bets on the day?
My mum said she saw something about a few weeks on the news, so I'm confused as to whether it's terminal or not???

Well put it this way people who get pancreatic cancer have a low survival rate. Something like only 10% - 15%. Once diagnosed most only live for a year or so more unless treatment works.
