So; It's ok for somebody to predict that it'll be awesome, but when somebody predicts it'll be crap, 'oh noes, I can't believe that-how can they say it'll suck-they haven't tried it'
Thats the thing none of use know if it'll be good/bad-we all have our own opinions, including scott, and we are all entitled to them, as at the moment, no one can say if we are right or wrong.

Nintendo have created a controller that has people talking about it, which is typical Nintendo. Always getting the crowds talking about them in good and sometimes bad ways.
I for one am not too sure about the controller. I don't fancy the idea much of waving my arm around like a nancy. I thought that if you have mates round, and you swing too hard, the controller will fly out of your hands and hit your mates or something (experiment by swinging a remote control around side to side, it does fly from your hand sometimes). Yes the controller/remote does look cool, and it is wireles, which i for one like about controllers. No Wires.
Nintendo need to convince me to buy a Revolution (or whatever it is going to be called) by showing off game demos with the controller in action otherwise i, like many other Nintendo gamers i know, will go off and buy a rival console be it either a PS3 or a X-Box 360.

No, you could just use the shell controller that Nintendo is making. The free-hand device can be used as a nes pad, as it is very much like it.

I don't mean the analogue add-on. Nintendo have confirmed that they are making a traditional joypad so that 3rd party games that won't make use of Ninty's innovations can easily be ported.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if he's idiot to the point that he's that much of a fatalist, why bother with him? To be frank most webcomic guys have some views on gaming that are narrow minded and idiotic. So shut up and make good comics.

You are obviously confused young one. Nintendo is making a "shell" that is reminiscent of traditional controllers seen today. The "wand" fits into the top of the "shell" so there are no dangling wires like the analague attachment has. This has another pro in its favor. Because the "wand" is fit in through the top, it's ability to sense tilt, turn, and depth is still functional.
So basically Nintendo created 4 different controllers:
1. The "wand"/remote.
2. The shell and "wand"/remote.
3. The "wand"/remote and the analogue stick attachment.
4. Two "wands" (which allows for some of the craziest ideas, like using the two as "drumsticks" on a virtual drumkit.)
Also, the technology is very sensitive. So much so, that most games would require but a flick of the wrist. All this can be done with your hands resting comfortable on your lap.
I don't particularly care what people think about the controller, but I'd like to join the "VGCats is shite" brigade. Oh, the guy wears boxers on his head? Never seen that before.

What a stupid thing to say, if they dont include a regular controller they would alianate to much of the 3rd parties games. When they came out with analog stick why they keep the d pad same with sony. Just cuz they have a regular controller add on its not that they lack confidence sorry if u see it that way.

IGN have posted a mock up of how they think the controller might look with the "wand" remote attached to the middle. Looks pretty darned sexy if I do say so myself. Shame no official images exist as yet.

I think Scott is just refusing to believe it can be successful until he sees proof. Some people will go to great lengths to avoid potential disappointment. :heh:
Myself, I'm optimistic about the new controller... for one thing, many people I've talked to these past few days, of whom next to none owned a Gamecube and less than half played console games at all, just about everybody seemed very enthusiastic when I explained what the controller can do. And yes, these are the same people who never understood why ever anybody could want a Gamecube... and they love the Revolution concept.
Give the narrow-minded a few months to get used to the idea and couple in the fact that the new console is nether purple nor kiddy, and I think the optimism that many feel right now is well founded.
And if the controller can actually be used as a sex toy (which I doubt, since the rumble function seems to be in the remote-like part, but who knows for sure?), well, at least that's another step away from the kiddy image and towards a multimedia entertainment platform, eh?

Now Scott is being a total idiot (check latest comic). This is really the kind of thing you see in webcomics. They don't even think things over properly or get informed they just hit the sarcasm button. I'm pretty sure that any necessary add on comes with the game as we've seen before in many cases. Like some said, not liking it or loving is fine, but at least get your facts straight and try not to be an asshole.

FFS; read his news post. Take a dose of your own medicine, 'get your facts straight'. He actually is looking forward to seeing the games, but he isn't too convinced if Nintendo are taking the right path(which is what I think as well).

Hellfire's point is that in the comic they're showing things, like having to pay for the analogue nunchuk, which have already been confirmed as being otherwise.

I think the add-ons will come bundled with the games, akin to Donkey Konga and the Rumble Pak with Lylat Wars. Nintendo aren't going to make us pay for them unless they're optional or something.

**** you.(unnecesary anger-but i'll leave it in anyway..) seriously. A lot of you guys are so repugnant; you're annoying fanboys and you don't even know it. Stop whining every time someone disses Nintendo and the new pad; there are a lot more important things in life than games, comics based on games, and discussing either.
Edit; I think he also had a valid point; the fact is, why give add-ons away for free, when peple WILL pay for them. Nintendo are just trying to get your money like Sony and Microsoft; they aren't no different to them, and in some instances(see pokemon, constant re-releases among other things), they can be worse. Some of you look at Nintendo through rose tinted glasses, it's time you realised they are just a company who want your money and don't care about you or what you think; as long as you keep buying their stuff that is.
Edit the second; seems Dave Perry of Shiny already knows how things will work;
when a developer designs a game, they can very easily design their own interface at the same time. Their interface component would then (at a very low cost) be included in every game box. (Imagine a small "interface' block that clips in the front of a normal controller.)
Games with these devices will be more expensive than games without them; exactly what Scott of VGcats was implying, you will have to pay for these add-ons.
Hellfire
20-09-2005, 12:03 AM
This is so fun. Do you people see a pattern here? When someone agrees with Nintendo, he's automatically a fanboy. I didn't pay more for Donkey Konga with bongas than I did for Metroid Prime, Four Sword Adventures came with link cable, Lylat Wars came with the rumble pack, Donkey Kong 64 came with an Expansion Pack. All these games cost the exact same as any other game. While Nintendo is a company these things I just wrote are facts. They've done it and following the trend, it's safe to assume that they'll do it again. And I might be wrong here, but the point Dave Perry has is that developers can now easily create costum interfaces, not that they'll make them mandatory for games and sell them seperately. In fact he seems to have loved the idea. Still, I might have interpreted him wrong. You also say that there are more important things in life than discussing games. Sure there are. There are also more important things than eating chocolate cake, wash the car, take a walk down the beach or watch TV, but nonetheless people do it. We are in a videogame forum, we discuss videogames. We were all discussing calmly, until you insulted someone. I'll say this to you: calm down, there are more important things in life than games and discussing them.
masaki86
20-09-2005, 12:06 AM
Yes, but there is no need to act like videogaming is a holy war; is there?
Oh, and just agreeing with Nintendo does not make you a fanboy; many people agree with Nintendo about the revo pad; i do as well. What makes some of the people in this thread/forum fanboys are the fact that they can't allow someone to criticse the Big N-not even an online comic that is there for the funnies, and the funnies alone. They had to stand up and support nintendo, even though the people who have criticised them won't ever get to see it; pointless tbh.

Personally, i like VGcats and their comics, and i still don't see the bit where they said they don't like the Revolution. They have a jokey sense of humour, so i put it down to that. It's hardly something to get worked up about tho. It's not as if our lives depends on a controller. :heh:
