The N-Europe Forum Awards 2007!

It's that time of year again! It's Christmas! Er, rather, the N-Europe Forum Awards 2007! Here, you can reminisce about the year's events on the forum and vote for who you think fits each category. This years' questions are taken from the 2006 poll and since they were so successful are being used again, with a few additions.

Here are the rules:
- Only one vote per category
- Voting ends on the 31st of December at 11:59pm GMT.
- Anyone who joined on the 1st of December 2007 or later may not vote but can be voted for. This is to stop alternative account etc being used to skew the votes. Sorry!
- Editing your post is allowed, providing it's before the closing deadline. Any posts edited after 11:59 on the 31st of December will not be counted!
- You do not have to fill in every single nomination.

Votes will be counted by me in January and the results posted at some point. Cube found it tricky last year so I apologize in advance if there are any delays! (Shouldn't take too long though).

And remember: This is for fun! Please do not cause arguments in the thread or get angry over certain aspects of the thread!

You should do 2 threads, one for voting and one for discussion. Would make you're life a lot easier when it comes to counting stuff, this could easily hit 20 pages by the end of the month

Im sure a gen chat mod could help with moving discussion posts to that thread.

There are some really interesting characters in the comments section on the website that also deserve recognition. Some in particular, would be a very welcome addition to the forum, but are yet to create accounts...

I don't mean that, but it was irresistable in my mind. Out of curiosity, is there going to be any awards this year, or wil this be a biannual kinda thing given the time it takes to get done? Any reports on the current progress?

Next time, if I end up doing it again (which is unlikely, I don't think many people here would take them seriously) it wouldn't be a one man show from the start. On top of that there would also need to be a reduced amount of categories, or perhaps an easier system of counting the numbers, as this is where it fell to pieces in the results section.

Seriously, it probably is a two person job at the max, but it's more tedious counting up all the votes than anything. It can be done in a single day if you set time aside. I think I've done it before, and then Cube last year.

I would of done the same, import all the votes as they come into a csv file and had the computer count it. Oh well, people make mistakes etc.

Whole thing's done, yeah. I didn't count votes when they stated two or more members (eg: "Most Helpful Member: Member A... or Member B!"), but aside from that, I've counted the lot of 'em (I guess I have too much free time :P). I could send you the results too over MSN / PM if you want.

The best thing to do if you do it again is to have a template, so everyone who votes has to put "Best poster - blah blah". That way you can just CTRL F on each page and find each vote for that category quickly. Write them down, and repeat for each. People who don't write their vote properly wont have their vote couted, it's as simple as that :p
