A child's mind is moulded by it's parents, friends, culture, society, teachers, politicians, country etc etc etc.

A child learns a language by repeating what he or she hears - they are a clean slate or blank piece of paper (so to speak) and many many many people and situations and experiences will leave their mark shaping and moulding the child into what they ultimately become.

Yes, we hear almost daily bout the rapid rise of knife crime in inner cities suburbs such as the rougher parts of London. However, I was shocked last week to find out, that in my local rural village - of which there are less than 2000 people; five young people, aged between 13 and 15 were held at knife point by some youths (no older than 16) from a neighbouring village. This is just so their mobiles and wallets could be stolen. For the prize of less than 30 pounds respectively, these youths were risking harsh punishment and obviously prison, if they were over the age of 18.

The question I pose is, is this new wave of street crime, 'new' at all, or has it worsened since the introduction of the Labour government over a decade ago? I don't intend to start a politics based argument, but do you think the state is responsible for these peoples action, by not educating them and providing entertainment out of school hours; or would you solely place the blame on the parents of these youths.
