Many websites are reporting that according to Japanese magazine Famitsu Capcom's Devil May Cry is in development for DS, and the graphics will be like those in Viewtiful Joe.

The only decent version was the first one the 2nd was terrible and the 3rd was a bit iffy.

the graphics will be like those in Viewtiful Joe.Yeah, they had Dante as a secret character in the PS2 Viewtiful Joe, so i guess they got the idea from there!

This could be really cool!

Hmm...a viewtiful joe styled Devil may cry? No thanks... Games that have any bit of horror in it shouldn't be cartoony, it wrecks the experience

Even if it is cel-shaded, hopefully it will be along the lines of Killer 7 like cel-shading.

Gameplay wise, lets hope that it remains a 3rd person game. :)

I own the 3rd and even if they get it half as good as that it will rock, sure the speech is crap espically the ultra cheesy one liners. But it is so cool as in DMC3 Dante is running down the side of the tower killing hundreds of devil birds and jumps off the side and gets eaten by a massive flying whale.

I hated how they made Dante run and jump around shouting wooooooooooo. He was cool as hell in the first 1 very confident yet silent. In the third he was an arrogant little punk which made my hate him. He reminded me of a charv!

Mainly because he's younger in 3, more of a teeny person growing up.

A well done 2D Devil May Cry could rock my world.

I'm imagining a lot of Castlevania stylings when I hear this rumour... I could see it working really well. My only gripe if it was in 2D would be that the combat might lose something. The "crowd management" aspects of DMC3 were its strongest feature, and the combat might well lose something if translated to 2D.

The combat is insanely fast, but very, very skillful. Normally people who didn't "get" DMC3 tended to button mash their way through earlier sections (after Normal became unlocked), and then get frustrated that they couldn't progress further.

Another concern for me is the loss of the FMV - the sheer audacity and exuberence of the cutscenes kept me coming back for more in DMC3... there's no way that kind of quantity and quality of FMV can fit on the DS carts, so it could be a big loss.

Overall though, as I say, Castlevania's stylings and gameplay style would seem to indicate a way forward for this game concept, and I could see it working well.

"Capcom <heart> Nintendo, eh?"

I've only ever played 1 DMC game...that was DMC 3. And a great game it was too. If this was to come to the DS I'd be over the moon!

Have you read the latest info on Resident Evil DS? All of the voices, all of the fmv and even the supremely cheesy intro movie is being put on the card. Maybe they might be able to get close enough on DMC3?

Certainly looking that way.

Err yeah... but the same movies that were used on the PSOne, with a 650Mb disc.

The movies on DMC3 are of such high quality that I don't think they could be translated to the DS intact.

The DS cards are 1Gigabit at the most right now... there's only so much you can fit on there. You might get one or two decent quality movies on there, but no more.

Yeah, but since its running on a DS screen doesn't that mean that you'de have to have it at a lower res and at a slower frame rate? I mean they should be able to fit it on then.

The frame rate wouldn't need to be affected, but the size of the screen means that you could run hours of movie off of those carts. Cut scenes are no longer a problem. Sound would be of course, but cut scenes never do go on for hours, they are only a few minutes long. Sounds good :)

Devil May Cry would be great, the first was such a great, great game. It could be 3D graphics with 2 1/2 D gameplay. wicked stuff.
