Just a quick thread, i know people's view of the PS3 has changed greatly since E3 and i just wanted to see how serious people are to buying one.

Though I have one I can honestly say that I would buy a PS3 over any console after E3 07

It showcased the console, the games and reassured existing gamers that theres tuff worth having.....and plus MGS4

I always planned to buy a PS3 tbh with you. Just when the price ridiculously goes down, so thats basically 2 years off lol.

I just trust Sony in making products that rarely ever break and have longevity... PS2 was a stunning console, once Sony gets all its big dogs released and reaches its true potential graphically, I am sure the PS3 will be a force to be reckoned with...

Still isnt touching the 360's online though :D

I will get a PS3 when it costs around 200 quid...

Ill get one in a year or so. By then there should be a better price, better library, and any hardware issues will have been ironed out (if there are any to begin with)

That scenario reminds me of a Simpsons qote

I will get one eventually.
It's just when. Most definitely when my brother is gone. He asked me about it yesterday so he definitely has an interest in one.
If he gets one then if I get one he'll moan at me for being a nintendo fanboy and also I bought a PS2 not long ago when he already had one.
Still I will get one.

Thing is, there aint many games I would get it for.
Echodrome looked immense. That Home feature is too good to miss.
And that's about it. Depends what games will be released if I'll buy any games for it.

Hell no. The only thing on there I want and can't play on a 360 is MGS4, and some version of that will probably end up on 360 eventually anyway.

Nope. No games on it that interest me that aren't coming out for the 360. This is the first time I've owned two consoles of the same generation during that generation, and looking at the release schedule of games I want I don't think I'd have time for a third anyway.

I wouldn't get rid of one if you gave it to me, but I'm not prepared to go out and spend £400 on a console that only has 5 games on it that I'd actually be interested in.

Hells no. But then I said the same thing about PSP when it first came out..although I did trade it in. Now I want to buy one again...It all depends on my budget. If I was rolling in cash, I'd go and buy one now, just for Tekken, FF and MGS4.

I doubt it, because I don't have enough room for one, plus I have tons of games to get for Xbox 360, so I'm alright for games right now. Sony are definitely getting it together though. But I like to have one console and I've already had to break that rule to have the Wii and Xbox.

Mr.X

I am going to wait till LBP, MGS4, and FF series are on the console, because as much as I would like one I can't justify paying £400 for a machine.

I'm trying to ignore the PS3. I didn't bother looking at any of they're E3 stuff, or much of Nintendo's simply because at the moment I'm content with the 360.

I don't have cash flow problems stopping me from getting one, but there are far better unnecessary ways to spend £400 (mostly involving beer Jäger, strippers, a team of midgets and a medieval catapult)

Hellfire
17-07-2007, 01:59 AM
None of the answers in the poll appeal to me. I intend to have one eventually, but they'll be expensive for a long time and there aren't enough games that justify the buy for now. I'll probably do it like PS2, buying 5 or more years after the launch. Getting a console for launch is only if I'm certain I'll enjoy it relatively fast. I'll probably get a 360 before that.
Plus, I hate Sony.

Noodleman

Even without HD its a great piece of kit. The HD and extras just push it over the top. The software setup on the Ps3 is very nice and very easy to use. Love the clean look.

put it this way - i have NEVER owned a sony console

ps3 only has Killzone 2, MGS4 and FF13 that interest me
the controller is terrible
the console is ugly
pshome doesnt interest me
the idea of running blu-ray movies doesnt interest me as i dont have a hdtv and if i did id just get the 360 hddrive
too expensive
so yea i wont be getting the ps3 as i think its a joke fullstop.

a team of midgets and a medieval catapult)
I want to know more.
I only have 1 game for my PS2, FFX and I have hardly played it.
I'd get it mainly as a cheap Blu ray player. Stand alone ones cost well oer £400, to get a games console aswell as a blu ray player, it's an opportunity not to miss out.
I have an HDMI port on the back of my tv but I don't know if it does 1080p, when I try changing it to that via my 360 it splits the screen in two.
I won't get one for a long time as no games appeal to me. No games on the pS2 appeal but I got one to try them out. I havnt bought any games because the 360 games that do appeal to me are coming out and money is going to them.

Definately going to get a PS3 at one point in the future, just not sure when I'll have enough money.

The PS3 has a lot of sequels and new titles that I really want to play, I don't really give a crap about the online, Home or the PS3 store.

I think I'll probably save up for a HD TV before I get this though, I'm getting bored of standard definition. :heh:

you wanted me to put no.? bit of a short post. Last time i looked this was a forum so i can put my view across

as for why i have never owned a sony console -

had a n64 back in the day of the ps1 v n64 days back then i was a massive nintendo fan and didnt look twice at the ps1 presides ff7 and ff8 which made there way onto the pc. I was a fanboy i admit

as for the ps2 i had a dreamcast at the time and had lots of games to play though so didnt bother getting it (had pc games to play as well) by the time the gc came out tehre was still nothing that convinced me to buy one. Then the gamecube came out had a good start plenty of good games. Then got rid of the GC after 18 months and got the xbox as had tons of games i wanted. The drought on the gc was frustrating to say the least.

As for ps3 like i said above also i got the 360 and wii so i wont be missing much

£400 hmmmmm.... i want MGS4 and a blu-ray player would be nice, but i have a 360 with HD-DVD drive and i love it to bits so unless sony drop the price to about £150 (probably never going to happen)then they can kiss my white ass.

MGS4 might come to 360 eventually anyway, if not then at least 360 has Ace Combat

The PS online side of things is superb. While Xbox Live has been out longer and is more developed. Sony have a much more expansive and advanced online network. No space restrictions for games, Possibility of servers for no gaming lag, Internet browser, Streaming of content from wireless devices etc. Xbox Live was up ages ago however it wasnt designed for todays gaming so much as PSN is(hardware too). Which is because Sony started late from scratch so they ended up with better possibilites. Also Sony are much more open. You wont need to have MS everything to do half the features nor do you have to pay. Oh and Tekken DR will be online soon. UT is coming due PS3 open to MS wanting to lock content to microtransactions etc. Sony have a very forward thinking approach. It wont be long before they are king in online.

with HD-DVD drive

Now thats an expensive thing to do. I wouldnt be able to justify that. Its a gimped HD-DVD player.

My reasons for not getting a PS3:

I haven't found many games that will be available on the system that interest me.
The price is far too high for my liking, and I'm not reckless enough to spend that much on a gaming system, especially money that I seldom have.
Whenever I buy two systems, I tend to focus on one system, therefore leaving the other machine redundant. With the fact that I currently have a Wii and a DS, I doubt I could focus on all three systems, especially as I have a hard time coping with the Wii and DS as it is.
I cannot stand the controller. Has never agreed with me. SixAxis or not, the original controller design was rubbish, imo.
I can't see myself adopting either Blu Ray or HD-Dvd in the near future, so am in no rush as far as that is concerned.

The poll itself is ever so slightly flawed. Answers 1 and 2 are meant to sound logical, but you make it the whole of idea of not wanting a PS3 to be daft. "Omg, you don't want a PS3? FANBOI!"

On each generation of PS there have been about 4 games that have apealed to me.

I can see that being even less this generation.

I brought a PSX for £20 (with two of the 4 games) second hand eventually, so maybe I'll do that with the PS3. By the time I'm ready to move over to Blu-ray or HD-DVD stand alone players will be cheaper so I'm in no rush.

Thats because there really is sod all on the Wii at the moment :)

I tend to try and own all the consoles so that I can sample many the games across all the platforms. The best thing about this is that usually when there is nothing to play on one console then you can fall back on another.

Im off to the Metro Centre tomorrow to see Transformers ( YEY ) and its looking extremely good that I will be coming home with a PS3.

By the time I'm ready to move over to Blu-ray or HD-DVD stand alone players will be cheaper so I'm in no rush.

Bear in mind PS3 is the best Blu Ray player. Not even the + 1000 stand alone ones are as good. This is due to the hardware decoding being done through Cell and RSX combo which is currently overkill for a Blu Ray player, but puts PS3 at the top for quality.

To get the equivalent of PS3 in a player you would need super expensive chipsets to match it. None of which will exist for a while. When they do come close even you will find the PS3 much cheaper anyway as quality is always going to be a premium.

Medium priced players wont rival PS3 when they arrive. They probably wont ever due to costing and quality balancing.

PS2 for the record used a full software decoding solution which makes it worse than supermarket dvd players. A bottom quality dvd player if you will.
