Two things.
First, a system update that adresses the 'dots' problem.
Second, find a solution with MORE STORAGE SPACE!

Dots problem????

Firmware update would be to fix all virtual console games for component cables.

I'd like an update (2000 points to cover licensing costs) to the Photo Channel to upgrade it to a Media Channel. DVD, Videos, MP3 plater, Phoro viewer/editor, etc

thirtynine.

I just want a half decent online system.

But other than that, A ds Demo channel.

I don't like all my VC games being separate channels, I'd prefer them to be all under one channel from the main menu which expands to display them all... it's getting messy!
If possible, faster loading on all channels and start up, i might use them more if it didn't take a minute to get to the weather channel.

Just thinking, is it possible to run out of spaces to put the VC games or other channels in. Are you only allowed a limited amount or will new spaces be created?

At the moment the cure for running out of memory is to switch stuff back and forth between any SD Cards you have. From what I've read you have to load VC game's back into the Wii memory before you can play them, ie you cannot just play em direct from the SD Card. Its a bit of an awkward solution, but we gotta make do with it for the time being! :hmm:

erm...dots problem? As in little black dots sporadically appearing over the screen?
Sorry to say it, but it sounds like your wii may, more than likely, have overheated and fried the graphics chip :heh: I've had the same problem so please do accept my sincere empathy :(

Eel,in resi4 this problem is very noticeable.Have you found a solution? If you keep the Wii off is it possible to cool the graphics chip?
I think that this is very easy for Ninty to fix this problem with a system update.
And I would like to add that not only Nintendo must fix the VC games for component cables but also to actually RUN the games in 480p just like in USA and Japan!

I'm sorry panmusic, but the only solution is to send it off to nintendo for a replacement: overheating is a factory problem and cannot be solved.
Just post the wii on it's on off to nintendo. Had to do it with mines last week and P&P came to about £5, just so ya know.

Demos of Virtual Console games.

Either being able to play the game free for 5 minutes, or downloading a small demo.

The idea of GameBoy and Color games would be very interesting.

I really hope that Nintendo add a firmware update for keyboards and for USB storage device. This will instantly mean harddrive and flash drive compatibility meaning that we can store larger files like our music collections, videos, VC games and other things rather than just on an SD card. I don't have an SD card at the moment, don't really plan to buy one either really, the main problem is that if I were to go round a friends or my cousins house, I cannot take my game saves with me to their Wii. If they added flash drive compatibility things could be different.

I'd like a DVD channel, allowing me to playback DVDs. I'd happily hand over 1500 points for that. A media channel wouldn't hurt either.

A DS demo channel would be perfect to try out up and coming games.

I think it'd be ebtter if they did VC demos, like XBLA trial versions of the games.

Isnt it the general consensus that the Wii is able to read DVD discs? Heck, aren't Wii games on DVDs anyway? If it means the Wii needs software to encode those discs in order to have it playback, then a DVD channel should do the trick.

It's definitely not a deal breaker, as most people have one if not several DVD player. Still, having on inside the Wii just make it complete. I bring it over and take it with me so often, it's just very convenient. Besides, the Wiimote should work a treat as a DVD remote.

A button = play/pause
Hold B + drag left/right = rewind/fast forward, the more you drag, the faster it plays. Kinda like the scroll function in the Opera browser.
+ button = volume up
- button = volume down
D-pad left/right = previous/next chapter
D-pad down = search track (enter digits)
1 button = bring up track info (time played/left, track no., track title, also include on screen playback buttons)
2 button = return to root menu

no it can't. wii disks are i think dvds but the wii spins the disk the other way (same with the cube obviously). unless someone developed software that could read binary in reverse and i think that would cause slowness i think.

Nintendos idea of a demo channel is a disclaimer on the Wii Shop telling you to visit www.nintendo.com and look at the VC preview page :heh:

Yes I'm sure they spin the other way (Its been said several times). Nintendo like simple yet effective security. If you still don't believe me remember how Nintendo were thinking about releasing a DVD compatible Wii in the near feature and not an add on to the Disk Channel (I'd rather have this than a whole separate channel just to play DVDs and CDs). The reason the Wii didn't have DVD playback from the beginning was that the Gamecube games spun the opposite direction than DVDs so they would have to build a very complex disk drive and they just didn't have the time to do this.

Its actually wii.nintendo.com. Why can't they just put .flv (flash video) files on the html (or whatever format they're in (remember when someone accessed them from fire fox)) pages right on the shop channel so we don't need to close the shop channel and open the "Internet" Channel and navigate to the game we want to buy. Thank god the video's are in .flv format or we would have to walk all the way to are computers just so we could watch a 1 minute video of super mario bros. or something.

HAHAHAHA, Don't know where you're getting your facts emasher but they're wrong. It uses a DVD based format, why would they make the GC disks spint he other way? Don't give me the piracy bullshit, they made 80mm disks for that.

OMG!!! DS DOWNLOAD CHANNEL AND OTHER STUFF!!!

Lots of exciting news regarding the Wii. New 1st and 3rd party games, WiiWare titles, new Wii Channels, and more...

Last night, Nintendo held a conference. During this conference lots of exciting things were announced. Here's the rundown on what happened:

New Wii Games

Two new Wii games were announced. Monster Hunter 3 and Super Mario Stadium Baseball.

Monster Hunter 3 is a hacnk 'n Slash game with role-playing elements from Capcom. The game was previously announced for the PS3. The aim of Monster Hunter is to achieve the highest Hunter Rank by completing missions.

Super Mario Stadium Baseball is the sequel to the GameCube's Mario Superstar Baseball and will be the second Mario sport title on the Wii. I probably don't need to mention that it's main feature will be the Wii Remote.

New DS Game

Nintendo have announced Fire Emblem DS, another instalment in Nintendo's turn-based RPG/Strategy games. Not much information was released on the title.

New WiiWare Games

New WiiWare titles were announced: Mojipittan Wii, Doctor Mario Wii, Pokemon Farm, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land, Joysound (Karaoke) and Bomberman.

Pokémon Farm allows you to grad Pokémon from Diamond/Pearl and raise them in a farm-like environment on the Wii.

The biggest WiiWare game was Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land. It will be available for 1500 Wii Points and is a fully 3D game and lets you build your own country.

New Wii Channels

The Mii-comparing Check Mii Out channel will be available in Japan this November. A new channel was also announced - a DS Demo Channel, which turns your Wii into a DS download station. The Everybody Votes Channel will soon be updated and will allow Wii owners to rate their games.

Other Stuff

Some Super Smash Bros. Brawl information was released. Sonic the Hedgehog will be a playable character, and will be able to transform into Super Sonic. Brawl will also feature online co-op. It has also been delayed until the 24th January, 2008 in Japan.

Mario Kart Wii will include motorcycles. The Wii Steering Wheel will be thrown in for free.

A simple firmware update that allows you to select Wii channels with the gamecube controller. If I'm playing a gamecube game I don't want to pick up the remote to select the gamecube disc, then switch to the controller.

Great idea, it's annoying when I want to play a GC or VC game and my batteries are dead again. I have to recharge them just to select a channel.

MULTIMEDIA CHANNEL:

Plays DVD-video or SVCD
Plays music CDs
Plays MP3 stored on the Wii memory, SD card, or even from a disk
Plays standard MPEG video files

You would have to pay for it of course, specialy because of the DVD-Video licensing fees.

Firmware update to have either streaming videos of games you are considering purchasing at Wii shop or even better, timed short playable demos that expire after a certain time, instead of just some tiny shots and a bit of text...

If I ruled the world (and one day I will), then I'd like:

The possibility to use the classic controller for GC-games. It feels so good! Rrrrrr!
BC for dreamcast-discs (DC-revival hooray!)
My Wii to do my cooking, cleaning and laundry
HD-capabilities (Yes, rantrant...)

One can dream...

One thing that would be cool would be proving you own a license for a classic game for instance, owning animal crossing 1 could get you all the NES games from there, Having metroid zero mission could get you metroid, then there's classic NES series and the e-reader. plus there's super mario advance and then obviously owning the game for its original system. These things could all let you download the games on the VC. as I don't like luging out my e-reader or loading up animal crossing, just to play Donkey Kong.

I want a firmware update that lets me control the Wii Menu screen with a GameCube controller. It's annoying having to use the Wii Remote just to play a GameCube game, but this is a must since the GameCube controller is the best control option in Smash Bros.

failing that i could just get my toaster from downstairs and strap it to my Wii...

first, a thing to make the graphics better. I don't know how but still...
Next, a proper online system e.g. xbox live where you could actually talk to people etc.
Allow music in all games instead of 1 or 2 games i.e. Excite truck, Endless Ocean
