Currently, I am 17 year olds in the UK and I need a new bank.
Where shall I go? I was thinking of HSBC as they have some discounts on their online service.
I preferably need one that comes with a Solo card rather than a Visa Electron or something shoddy like that.
Solo FTW.

Natwest without question. No bullshit just what you ask for. And speedy help for card fraud too. Someone nicked my card and spent £100 and they got it for me straight away.

Im with Natwest, they seem to be good. Solo card is accepted pretty much anywhere with the exception of xbox live :(
I also have an ISA with Halifax, they are also good, but i cant comment on their card services as i dont require one.

Im with foxy, natwest all the way. Thats what i use, you get a solo card and access to online banking. Means i dont have to get off my arse to see how much money I have.

Bank of Scotland! Visa Electron is really good. You can use it in more places than you can Solo.

Send your money my way. The Bank of EnGuyland is a safe bet with your hard-earned, and interest rates are incredibly high. So high, in fact, that they're low.

Pop the cash into my hand, leave it there and it'll be grand. I'll throw in a bank card if you like... with no cash point in sight, awwww... that's nice!

Well Natwest doesnt seem to have much benefits.
HSBC gets you discounts and some other BSM lessons (which are useless for me)
But from what I've seen, Natwest seems to be quite good in terms of service.

Don't go to Lloyds, I'm with them but they wont give me a card until I'm 18, pretty stupid really.
I'd choose HSBC, you'll get a switch/solo card from there without any trouble.
im with HSBC , had a solo from wen i was 16 and they sent me out a switch wen i was just turning 18, pretty gud, i dont have money in it enough to gain from intrest rates, once its in, its out. Theyre online banking is easy to use aswell.,

im with natwest been with them since i was 16 and im now 22, never had any problems, started with a solo card went onto a switch and i think its now called maestro or something.... they keep putting my overdraft up which is good as i dont get charged for using it..
so yeah i can recomment natwest, although i havent tried any other bank ive heard HSBC are just as good.
I'm with HSBC, had a nice card to withdraw money since I signed up when I was 11, and I got a solo card when I was 15. It's been all good so far.
Visa Electron sucks. Almost all the sites I buy off don't accept it.

Nah Moria, Solo has a much higher exceptance then Visa Electron. Shell garages do not except Visa Electron for fuel, because of the offline system; which is the way Visa Electrons work. Making them unreliable.
I am again with Natwest, they are very very good, they again keep upping my overdraft - and keep me well informed of their measures on combating card fraud. They also offer some very attractive credit cards for students, where you don't feel tied down.

Smile.co.uk are good, you get a visa delta card with it, and if I refer you we get a dozen bottles of wine each.

But enquire about their overdrawn charges. I was overdrawn by 9p and they charged me £28.

Well I've got a Barclays First additions bank account, have never had any problems with places not accepting the visa electron card and I also get 20% of the first thing I order, each time I order, on cd-wow.co.uk, 20% of most stuff in allsports, and loads of other discounts, also get phone insurance (although the account does cost me £4 a month, but I save that much just from money off cd-wow alone)!

Well Natwest and HSBC sounds good.
I'll go tomorrow and see if there's any waiting times, and I'll go with the quickest one.
Thanks everyone.
