Hey all,
I thought I would replicate the thread from CE, since I have really been getting into this game. Im really finding some of the levels tricky though; it took me forever to get past the stupid highschool one, just because I wasnt hitting enough perfects to keep the health bar up for the last section. Right now Im doing the one on the train, which is again tricky (but has cooler music).

Hows everyone else doing on this?

I am playing on hard mode now. Currently on the secretary stage.
The final stage (15) on normal mode was a bitch.

Am I right in thinking that Hard Mode is the "other" character (the one with glasses)? Or is it an unlockable thing? I havent actually played as the other character yet (the red headed guy is so much hotter....)

It is quite a hard game actually. I completed about 4-5 levels and now i'm having trouble!

Still great though! :D

You can only play hard mode after finishing normal mode. The old biddy is the character you get on easy. Playing on hard gives you the guy from the training bit.

I love this game, although it is killing my fingers doing the disco spinning bits.

For those that have not bought it yet.
Here are eight reasons (http://www.geekonstun.com/mt/archives/osu_tatakae_ouendan_shut_up_081505.html) to get it.

I've just got to stage 15 on Easy (the bottom option) and had my first attempts quashed. That's the major problem with this game: as soon as you make one mistake you're pretty much doomed to a restart.

I may just play through Normal now so at least I'll unlock something for making it through the dreaded final stage. Apparently there's an Insane mode to unlock, and I get the feeling it's no misnomer.

I am more than half way through on hard now so I will see if it unlocks insane. I am looking forward to that.

Its even worse on hard mode with regards about getting your timming wrong, you have no chance of trying to pull it back as you need to hit your combos to keep your meter going. On normal you can keep going most the time except stage 15 of course.

This may sound really stupid of me, but how/when do you pick the different difficulty settings? I may have gone on a hard-mode without knowing.

I haven't had a chance to play it much, as i've been away so i haven't really gone into all menus and stuff.

:indeed: typical of me really. lol

After you choose single player it shows two options. The old man with the glasses is easy. The guy from the box art is who you get on normal. Once you clear normal mode then you unlock hard which you have that guy from the training.

I have not tried multiplayer as none of my friends have this and there is no single cart option.

Just downloaded a video, it looks amazing :) Whats it like to play (as for Japanese)? Also, what are the chances of it coming to the west?!?!

Johelian
17-09-2005, 03:51 PM
dazzybee, its very easy to get the hang of - in fact, I made a post about it here:
http://www.revo-europe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102

Its pretty much guaranteed not to come out in the West; I think someone emailed Nintendo about it and they said its not been announced, and I seriously doubt that that wont change. Still, I thought that about Band Bros as well and look what happened to that...

Im now on the Mouse level...I can get to the 3rd section but then I miss about 2 and its all over. Its weird, but I havent found any as hard as that school level yet...

Hello,

At this time, there has been no announcement of the release of such a game title in North America, and we at Nintendo of America, do not have game release information for European markets. You never know what the future might hold, though, so keep checking our web site (www.nintendo.com) for the latest information.

For details on all new or upcoming games for our systems, go to www.nintendo.com and open the "Game List" (located in the upper-right corner of our main page). If you need to narrow your search for a specific type of game (based on release date, publisher, number of players, etc.), try using our Advanced Filtering option. When you bring up your desired listing of game titles, you can click on the name of a game to find out all the information that we currently have available on it. If the information you are looking for is not yet available, please keep checking back. When there is new information to share on announced games or other upcoming products, our web site is the best official source!

Please keep in mind that details on licensed software represents the most current information that we have available from our licensee companies. Also, any posted release dates for both Nintendo and licensee titles are estimates and subject to change. When it gets close to a product's estimated release date, you may want to check with your local retailers to see when it may be available in your area.

If you would like additional information on a particular licensee title, you may want to contact the company that is producing it. To find information on how to reach one of our licensed publishers, head to the Corporate section of our web site (www.nintendo.com/corp/index.jsp), and then click on Company Connections. Here, you'll find a list of all our current licensee companies.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

Sorry to drag this thread back from the dead (I did not want to start another Ouendan thread).

Has anyone completed hard mode yet ? I just cant get the last section on the final stage.
I really want to find out what insane mode is like.

It is annoying me now, on the final stage you have to spin the turntables that fast that your wrist just keeps in that motion and its hard to get back into the rhythm again.

I tried easy and it goes that slow you can watch the animation on the top screen.

Im stuck at the second last level on cheerleader mode :/ So that is 2 more levels to complete the whole game. The end is very, very hard. You can loose without missing any :O

It is tough - luckily I have Band Brothers, which has Ready Steady Go! (the end song) on it, so it helped that I was pretty familiar with it ;)

I must admit though, the levels I found the hardest on Normal were the Gym Teacher one and the Giant Mouse one; the teacher one I would lose without missing any because I was only hitting 50/100s, and the mouse one just had a tricky beat. Now though I cant even last through the Dodgeball one for 3 seconds. Oh well.

Heh :)

Its basically a music/rhythm game in which you control a squad of - lets call them - male cheerleaders that help people out of difficult situations by encouraging them to work hard and realise their potential. You have to tap numbered dots that appear onscreen in the right order and in time with the music; as well as this, you will have to drag the stylus across the screen at certain times on the beat and spin discs as fast as possible. Its all absolutely crazy, but one of the best games I have played in ages. The little anime comic strips that tell the story at the start and during the levels are wonderfully expressive, and make the game understandable to us non-Japanese speakers, so there is really no reason for anyone to reject this on the grounds that they wont be able to understand the text.

A must have for any owner of a DS IMO.

Read the Eight Reasons (http://www.geekonstun.com/mt/archives/osu_tatakae_ouendan_shut_up_081505.html) that craig posted to convince yourself that you want this game ;)

Fingers crossed; I haven't played a decent rythm game since Um Jammer Lammy.

Fingers crossed; I haven't played a decent rythm game since Um Jammer Lammy.

I doubt it - it has a lot of text in-game*, and is a concept that probably wont have widespread appeal outside of Japan. Also, all of the tracks are licensed Japanese songs; to replace them with Western songs would mean rewriting pretty much the entire game; I know Gitaroo Man was the same, but there are no instrumental-only tracks in this game. Unlikely to happen. But you never know.

Um Jammer Lammy is awesome - I have finished that game so many times. Its a game that makes me feel really good for some reason; just really happy. Plus the end song and the credit track are fantastic!

You should try Gitaroo Man if you havent already, and Band Brothers on the DS. Both are fantastic new(er) music games. Oh, and Amplitude on the PS2 is also wondrous.

*please note - in spite of the text, the game is perfectly easy to understand and get to grips with thanks to the comic strip layout. The writing could theoretically be gibberish and all races would be able to understand.

For some odd reason I passed the Giant Mouse one on cheerleader mode (the insane mode, after hard) with only one try :D After that its just impossible.

Edit: :D :D :D Finally at the last last stage of the game!

I finished this on Hard yesterday, yippee! Now Im stuck on one of my favourite levels, the one with the race between the young bloke and the old man on Insane.

Its weird, but I found Hard easier than Normal, since the hits fall onto the actual words of the songs more often. That last level was tough though - miss like one or two and youre screwed!

The game is deceptively hard... I have a good sense of ruthm and so on, but this just eludes me! Still, I'll keep trying. It's too much funf to stop trying.

Last night I took turns playing it with my boyfriend. We both are not very good at it, but at least he hist the marks most of the time. I have this problem that once I mess up, I keep missing. I predict I will be able to sing along to the tunes in no time. I also predict I will have english and dutch versions of the lyrics done shortly after that. Not that I understand Japanese... But I will try!

Anyway, I will try again tonight and this time.. I will be better! (My boyfriend completed about 6 stages, so I will have to complete a few as well..)

Just read this on the Eurogamer forums:

"Kotaku are reporting that Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan is getting a european localisation sometime in the near future!"

From Kotaku:

"Nintendo DS import favorite Ouendan [Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan] will be getting a Euro release. A Nintendo of Europe team member slipped word to game journos that the game will be heading to the UK sometime in the future. No word on a U.S. release, but it should be in the cards.

The rhythm game follows a troupe of cheerleader like helper dudes that go around encouraging people who are stuck in difficult situations. Weekend Editor Mike McWhertor picked this game as a best of 2005."

All you people talking about this game make me want it really bad. I do hope they keep the original music, since people seem to love it so much (and I pretty much probably wouldn't like anything else they replace it with I think). And I guess if they change it and the picks are bad, that maybe I'll have to import anyway... which would be a first.
